Eating like an animal

Aria waited for some time but no one responded. She called out two more times before finally giving up.

Aria was incredibly hungry and thirsty but was also too tired. Bending elements really took a toll on one's body, and she had bended all the four elements together and that too for so long. Aria shook her head. "I really went overboard this time. Oh well, whatever."

She then lay back down and closed her eyes.

Suddenly she heard some noise and opened her eyes. She could barely see something under the metal door. She slided there and saw that someone had slipped a bowl of water and two breads under the door.

Aria: "I cannot eat. My hands are tied."

A heavy voice came from outside the door, "This is only what I can give. Think out of the box." And Aria heard footsteps which meant that the person was moving away.

Aria tried and found out that she could reach the bowl if she lay flat on the floor. She tried to drink from the edge of the bowl but it would not be possible without spilling most of the water.

She sighed and began drinking with the help of her tongue, like a cat or dog does.

After she had drank enough, Aria took the bread in her mouth and ate. She drank water after again after eating the two breads and then sat down against a wall.

She thought to herself, "Huh, who would have thought that the granddaughter of the king would have to eat like an animal one day."

Now that she had eaten, Aria felt incredibly sleepy. She lay down and looked at the ceiling, "I just hope that grandpa lets me meet mom, dad, Beth and Julia one more time before he executes me." She began humming a tune to herself. It was the lullaby that her mother used to sing when she was little.

Aria had always been a self-dependent kid, so she began to sleep on her own very early, she only needed Penny to tuck her in and her mother and father to say goodnight to her. So Aria did not remember the words of the lullaby, but the tune had always been fixed in her head.

The tone always soothed her and she hummed it whenever she was worried, sad or lonely. And at this point, she was all three.

As usual, the tone did it's magic and after much tossing and turning, Aria fell asleep on the cold floor. Aria dreamt that her mother was hugging her, she was stroking her head as Aria breathed her scent. But why was mom crying? Aria felt worried about why her mother was crying, she tried to reach out her hand to wipe her tears but her hands would not move. "Oh god, why aren't they moving? Move. MOVE!!"

Aria's face was getting wet due to her mother's tears. But why was mom crying? Aria suddenly heard her a voice, "Wake up, my angel. Please wake up."

"Who was this telling her to wake up? Was she asleep? And why was this person calling her by the name her mother called her?" Aria's mind was groggy as she opened her eyes, a frown on her pretty little face.
