There had been pain. Excruciating pain. A vague memory of crying, screaming, and voices mixed with hands holding me filled my mind for a moment. What I felt right then was nothing. There was no sound either. It scared me. The lack of sound and feeling. It scared me so much, that I startled awake. My body shot straight up and I instantly regretted it.
Feeling came back in an instant via a wash of burning agony. Groaning, I fell back into the mattress that I was laid up in. Next to me, a soft voice made a strange sound of shock. Words came after and the stuttering made it clear who was talking.
"H-holy… S-shit… You s-scared me!" Kibba hissed. He was next to me a moment after, his hands smoothing over the rumples I'd made in the bandages that laced my body. "You're an outright idiot! Do you know… How much work I had to do!" his worry and shock gave way to anger. It was one of the few times that his speech wasn't too bad in the stuttering department.
