Ch.3

Jack's POV:

I stopped listening to what the doctor kept saying after hearing him say her name.

Aurora Glendor.

I completely blocked what he was saying as I just stare at the child. All of my focus was on her. I was met with gold hair with golden-hazel eyes, a small cute nose in the middle and small heart shaped lips. Her body was so tiny that it could break with the slightest pressure. She was the definition of exquisite.

My hands immediately moved to the glass that's separating us, placed right against her small one that was also on the glass.

"She's beautiful."

"Yes, she is. We were all bewildered when we saw her face. She might even causes cities to fight over her."

"I can see definitely see that. Can I... can I fell out the papers of the adoption as soon as possible." My voice was shaking wondering if I was even capable of taking care of such an exquisite gem. I felt that if I didn't adopt her, I'm going to regret it miserably. Something was telling me to adopt her and I am going to listen to my guts.

"Of course!! In fact, you can fell it out once we are back in the office." The doctor sounded more than excited. I bet he would probably allow me to take her at the second if she wasn't born a month early.

"Then, please lead the way doctor."

"This way."

That was it! After 30 minutes of felling out the information, I'm now a father.

I'm a father!!! That thought just adds fire to my inside.

I am a father!! Father of Aurora Glendor!!

"When can I pick her up?" My voice was full of excitement.

"As you know, she is born a month early. We have to make sure she's in perfect like any other normal child. So, probably in 2-4 weeks after we get the results of the exams."

"Can you transfer her to the NICU in airship 100?" I didn't want a second to go without me having her where I can have easy access to see her. Moreover, she will definitely have better healthcare in my ship.

"Mmmm. We can't have her leave the ship until in 2 weeks when we get our tests results of her not having health issues." He said with a conflicted voice.

I guess there's no helping it. It's better than waiting for 4 weeks.

"I understand. I'll send one of my subordinates tomorrow to keep an eye on her. I'll be back in two weeks to pick her. Do please take care of my Aurora."

"Yes, I understand sir. We will definitely take care of her. However, will you keep her last name the same or make her take yours?"

I didn't think of that at all. It will please me greatly having her have my last name but I know I couldn't change it. It was the only clue that she has of finding her father if he was still alive. It will make her feel close to her unknown parents as she grows up.

"Keep it the same." Once he nodded in understanding, I turned around and left ship 1,900. I'll be make in two weeks to bring my daughter to her new home.

Just two weeks. I can survive two weeks.

5 minutes later, I made my way to the airship that was waiting for my team. It was small. Yet, it was good enough for 10 people.

"Sire, we are ready to depart."

I looked over to the person who just spoke. It was Andy, my youngest subordinate at 20. He was an average looking man. Black hair with dark brown eyes, a normal nose and lips. His body was on the lean side, not too muscular or skinny.

"Andy, would you like to do me a favor? You can consider it as a mini-mission." It seemed that my question surprised him as his jaw dropped in disbelief.

Now I'm feeling guilty. He is probably thinking it's going to be a top mission. When it's actually just him keeping an eye on my Aurora up for me until I come to pick her. Damn! There was even stars in his eyes.

"Ahem, tomorrow you will come back to this airship."

"Why? I'm sure we checked every alarm and all of them work." I noticed a huge question mark on top of his head.

I cleared my throat before continuing, "Actually it's not about the alarms. I... I just need you to watch over someone for me and when two weeks have passed, I will come and pick you and that person too."

"Who... if you don't mind sir, but who's the person?"

"My daughter. My daughter Aurora Glendor. Ahem, I just adapted her. Her mother died after giving birth and her father is unknown if he's still alive after going to ship 500."

There was surprise on his face. In fact, the whole crew stopped what they were doing and just stared at me as if I had just said the funniest joke of the century.

Silence was around the whole ship.

For the 3rd time today, I cleared my throat to get everyone's attention.

"From now on, a new member will be added to our small family. As you might have heard from the conversation between me and Andy, the child is parentless. She was born a month early before her due date and therefore has to stay in the NICU for at least two weeks to make sure she is a health child."

I stopped for few seconds as I look into every pair of eyes of the members of my small family that has become one for the past years.

"As many know that I have always wanted to adopt a child but I never had the time to. When I saw her, she captured my attention the second I stared at her big, wide, innocent eyes and I'm sure she will too for you when you meet her. I believe that this is gods gift for me. Well that's what I think it is.

So please, do treat my daughter with kindness and welcome her to the family that we all created."
