Chapter # 2

The bell rang, indicating the start of our break. I grabbed my tray and was about to sit at a table when someone shoved me, causing me to fall. My food scattered everywhere on the ground. I attempted to stand but felt something cold on my head.

Case: "Oh, my. I'm so sorry. I don't know why I can't control my hands today." She said mockingly, pouring juice all over me.

I got up, cleaned the mess, and headed to the restroom to change my clothes.

After changing, I was washing my hands when a single tear escaped my eye. I was taken aback and stared at my reflection in the mirror, my face filled with anger.

Me: "Seriously??!! You're crying? You aren't that weak. And why waste your tears on them? Those kind of people? Your tears aren't that cheap."

I mustered a smile at my reflection, washed my face, and left the restroom.

[Time Skip]

I was heading home when I passed by an alley. Unusual noises emanated from within. I peeked inside and my heart sank at the sight.

Three guys were throwing stones at a dog and were laughing. I was about to go inside but stopped. 'What will I be able to do? I can't beat three guys. Should I just go home? Ughh... I can't leave that dog like that. I should do something.'

Then an idea came into my mind. I took out my speakers and connected them to my phone. I hid behind a post box and played the sound of a police siren.

'Wee-oww wee-oww wee-oww'

Boy1: "Oh no... That's a police siren, right? If they catch us, we're done for. Let's get out of here."

Boy2: "But what about this strange creature?"

Boy3: "Just leave him, you idiot!"

They fled the scene. I quickly entered the alley. The dog was injured and bleeding. 'Poor thing.' I approached cautiously and began treating its wounds.

Me: "Hmm... You're a peculiar dog."

As I tended to him, I heard a scoff. I glanced behind me and my heart skipped a beat. The three guys were standing there, looking furious.

'Oh no... What should I do now?'

They advanced toward me.

Boy1: "Well, well, well... Look who we have here. You were the one who played those police sirens. Right?"

I swallowed hard and stepped in front of the dog protectively.

Boy1: "Oh, trying to be brave, huh?"

He leaned closer, his face inches from mine.

Boy1: "You're going to pay for what you did, little girl."

He signaled the other two boys. They grabbed my arms, pinning me down. I struggled to break free, but their grip was too strong.

The third guy grabbed the dog by its collar.

Boy1: "So, for this creature, you put your life on the line. Oh, you even treated him. How interesting," he sneered.

Me: "No, please don't hurt him. What has he done to you?"

Boy1: "Do you think I would listen to you? Now you will witness the end of this creature right before your eyes."

He lifted his foot, preparing to stomp on the dog.

'That's enough! I have to do something.'

Suddenly, I felt a surge of power welling up inside me.

I wrenched my hands free, turned around, and grabbed the two guys, tossing them into a nearby trash bin. 'Wow...'

I pivoted, smirking at the remaining guy.

He stood there, frozen, his eyes wide in shock.

I don't know from where this strength came, but I was grateful for it.

I approached him, and he began to back away in fear. He turned to run, but I seized him by his collar, pulling him back.

Me: "And where do you think you're going, mister?"

I hoisted him up and deposited him in the same trash bin.

I checked on the dog. He was almost unconscious. I was seething with anger.

I looked around and spotted some hooks on the alley wall. I got an idea. I hauled the guys one by one, hanging them on those hooks. They struggled, but it was futile.

Frankly, they looked ridiculous and helpless dangling there. I couldn't help but chuckle.

Me: "Have you learned your lesson, or do you need more schooling?" I said, cracking my knuckles.

Boy1: "No, no, no... We've learned our lesson. We won't do anything like this again."

Me: "You better not. Because if I catch you doing this again, I won't let you off so easily."

Boy3: "Yes, we promise we won't do it again."

I rescued the dog and left the alley.

I went to a pharmacy, bought some band-aids and ointments, and sat on a bench, treating the dog. He licked my hands gratitude shining in his eyes.

Me: "Oh, aren't you a sweet dog? But what exactly are you?"
