The redhead waved hesitantly as she watched him say goodbye and walk out the door.
She hadn't been able to say anything to help her servant.
Naruto walked calmly down the hall, his furious mind thinking about everything he had said to Rias minutes ago, returning to the past to make her feel bad.
Part of him actually felt as he had described, while the other part... Well, this one just wanted to keep living.
- So... Are you a fraud? A voice attracted the - - blonde's attention, making him turn around and find Akeno standing behind him, with a slight smile on his face. She had her arms crossed, in a dignified attitude.
Naruto rolled his eyes.
She had heard everything.
-I don't want these games now, Akeno. He said seriously, as he started walking again.
The brunette blinked, before quickly following.
- I'm not here for that either. She said as she stopped in front of him, forcing him to stop too, with a serious look on her face. - I... I want to talk.
Naruto just raised an eyebrow.
- About? - He asked.
Akeno let out a somewhat angry snort.
- What you told me, of course! She answered. - And truth?
Naruto didn't hesitate and just nodded and responded.
Akeno said nothing.
... It was just that? He asked, following the path.
N-No! Wait, don't be in such a hurry! - She quickly stopped him again.
Akeno, get straight to the point. He said. If you heard my conversation with Rias, you know that I'm not okay with it.
The brunette narrowed her eyes.
- Of course, of course! Fraud is in a hurry! - She ridiculed with a venomous look on her face. - Judges me for the way I act and does the same thing!
It was Naruto's turn to squint.
- I'm not like you! He replied. I used to be... But I'm not anymore!
- No? She raised her eyebrow. - Aren't you the one who even now wants to die, but hours ago you were smiling and saying you felt incredible as Rias's servant? She mentioned about the meeting earlier, before his punishment.
He opened his eyes wide, surprised: The truth slapped him in the face.
-I... Naruto had nothing to say... Nothing came out.
Akeno huffed, turning to leave with a complex look on her face.
-I was really wrong in thinking that you could help me... She said, making the blonde feel as if he had been shot in the chest.
Something hurt inside him...
Something hit him in the face again... The realization that something was wrong.
What the hell was he doing?!
W-Wait! He shouted, quickly moving forward and holding her hand.
Akeno turned to face him.
- Yes?
-... Let's have a coffee, shall we? - He said, with a slight breath. We both have a lot to think and talk about...
Akeno didn't hesitate, but looked thoughtful, before nodding.
Okay... Follow my magical trail and meet me at my house. - She said. - In half an hour, don't be late.
Naruto raised an eyebrow.
- Wouldn't it be better if we went together? - He asked, seeing her give him a look of pure mockery, along with a dry laugh.
- And allow other people to see me with you? She laughed again, before turning her back to him. -
No really, "dildo-kun". Until! And she then began to leave, leaving behind a reddish blond.
-You... ARGH! He almost ripped his hair out - with the way he violently ran his hand through it. - Bitch! I hate her!
Naruto looked at his cup full of a slightly greenish liquid and made a disgusted face.
- That's not coffee. He said, seeing her smile.
- It's tea. - Akeno replied. Much better.
- Coffee tastes better... This... It just tastes like dirty water. He said, tasting and twisting his lip.
-But it's good and not addictive. - She answered.
- Do we really need this? We are demons. - Naruto countered. What is good for? Shouldn't we destroy some country and eat virgins?
- Ara...? She smiled. I wonder now if in your past life you were the villain.
Naruto rolled his eyes.
Certainly, you are my Nemesis. - He said, looking at her, while taking a light sip of the worst drink in the world.
- I appreciate the compliment. The brunette - replied simply.
There was silence... No one seemed to know what to say.
Naruto looked away, focusing on his surroundings... Akeno's house was, in fact, a temple, complete with small statues, places for prayer, incense and traditional rugs.
-So... Are you a maiden? - He tried to change the subject.
Hmrum... She replied. My mother was a - - maiden, so I thought I could be too... I had the education for that.
- And what happened? - He asked. - What made you become a demon and hate Fallen Angels?
Akeno glared at him.
- What? Isn't that what I'm here for? - The blonde defended himself quickly.
The brunette sighed, knowing he was right.
But... Even so... It was so horrible that he was right!
Maous! Akeno would rather break her own arm than say he was right!
Huh? Don't you know my story? How did you say all that before? - She smiled like only a devil would.
- I guessed. - The blonde shrugged. - So what happened?
