The Love of a Mother II

[Richter's POV]

The isolated space located in the Blue Pole Star was a world filled with darkness, located at the bottom of a cliff. I brought Jie Yuan here and once again we were lucky.

"This is... surprising," She said upon arriving in this world, inspecting it. Her gaze fixed on a single direction and she found what she was looking for. Immediately her pitch-black eyes shivered.

"Why?" I asked her, seeing how she began walking in that direction.

"He held complete control over water, fire, wind and earth... but I never knew Ni Xuan to be able to control darkness as well. He kept that secret tightly locked from me, who would have thought... even after so many years of marriage, he still concealed things from me".

Like a somnambule towards a single spot where we had already sensed something.

*GROOWLL!!*

The growling of countless beasts could be heard in the distance. This space was incredibly dense and voluminous... although it is a concealed dimension located in this planet, the area of this dimension is dozens of times greater than the planet itself... it is filled to the brim with dark beasts, some of them even with divinities and authorities.

One of them came hurling towards us.

*BOOOOOMMMM!!!*

I had to slap it away, it was sent crashing far away from us, colliding with several other incoming ones and getting the point across. Don't even try.

We reached the spot where we found a girl in the middle of some eerie flowers and why not; she had silver hair... I perked up upon catching a glimpse of her, she was a teenager at most but what caught my attention the most were her eyes. They had four colours, two in each eye, top and bottom. Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.

I came to an abrupt stop but Jie Yuan continued forward. The moment the girl and Jie Yuan's eyes met, it was as if there was a connection... but instead of flying straight towards her daughter. The Devil Emperor knelt down on the cold dark ground, not too far away from the eerie beautiful flowers that surrounded her daughter.

"Jie Yuan..." I lifted up my eyebrows in confusion at her actions, but the next moment I realised this meeting had impacted her more than I could have imagined.

"Millions of years... *sob* here in the darkness... on your own with nothing but Udumbara Flowers and darkness monsters... my daughter, I'm so sorry... please forgive your worthless mother and father"

This woman just knelt down and started to cry in grief instead of going there to hug her daughter that clearly doesn't give a fart about anything and wants nothing more than to touch her mother.

The girl is crying too, but for different reasons... she's extending her cute hands forward, hoping her mother would go, but here she is... kneeling down and making a display.

*SNORT!*

'So dramatic...'

I took her by her arm and drew the astonished mother through the ground towards the longing girl.

"Wait, Richter!"

"Stop spouting nonsense... your daughter, a little girl, has been here alone for millions of years... do you think what she wants to see is this pitiful display? since you're a 'worthless' mother, then hurry up and give her what she wants".

When the woman was finally in front of her daughter after I technically stood her up in front of her. I retreated.

Jie Yuan perked up as if she was terrified; a Devil Emperor terrified of her own daughter. Instead, a small tear was visible in the girl's eye as she extended one of her hands forward, trying to grasp Jie Yuan, but she failed.

The girl was just a spirit.

The mother broke into tears and struggled to at least pretend to hug her daughter, the one she had craved to see the most. She knew her other daughter would be treated well wherever she was, but Ni Jie... was rejected by both sides.

And just as she had expected, her fate was a horrible one... just because she had the bad luck of having them both as her parents. While both mother and daughter cried, Richter made his distance, a little irritated, he wondered why he was here in the first place and contemplated leaving... but then he saw Jie Yuan's silhouette crying for her child and released a sigh.

'I guess there is still some goodwill in me, Monique... Grayfia'.

"Thank you, Richter..." After a long time, Jie Yuan floated out off the cliff together with her daughter. Richter had long since departed the dark world and waited here. She felt as grateful to him as she felt irritated.

It vexed her that despite his clearly younger age, Richter seemed more grounded and uncaring towards most emotional pains than she was. She didn't know if that was because of his uncaring nature... or because he had already lived through such pain himself.

Both possibilities made her more curious about this Golden Dragon she had suddenly met in the Z-Axis when all hope seemed lost.

"It was nothing, but my time is running short, Jie Yuan... soon I will have to leave" He stated; unaware of how much the time dilation difference between worlds was... for all he knew, this day that hadn't ended could have been a month or a year in Grayfia's world, let alone... it could be a month or ten years in Helius.

"I understand... even though I'd hope you'd stay," She said suddenly, 'holding' her daughters' hands... the girl in question merely regarded Richter with interest, not saying a word.

"Don't say words we can both misunderstand".

"Shut up... I'm talking to you as a friend" She scowled and moved her head away.

"We met today".

"Yet you have done for my clan more than what my 'allies' could fathom..."

"What's going to happen to her?" He questioned, having regarded her daughter for a while now, mostly focused on those eyes of hers. They looked like precious gems. Treasures.

"I can carry her spirit with me, but my daughter needs a vessel... ideally, I could find Wanhu and join them back together" Jie Yuan contemplated whether that was the right decision or not.

"Finding your other daughter will be complicated... I didn't expect her to be just a spirit remnant, that is going to make it more difficult for me to sense her. You were lucky that she was located here".

"Knowing Ni Xuan, she should be on this planet somewhere as well... he said they're safe, so he knows where Wanhu is..."

"What about the two kids from before? your husband's successor".

"He has his own plans for them; after I gave him the water seed, the boy and girl disappeared from that world together, transported to another continent... it doesn't concern me whatever Ni Xuan plans to do or whatever the Goddess plans to do..."

Richter laughed a little in amusement at her uncaring nature, 'Primordials should learn to be this selfish every so often'.

"She doesn't speak?"

"I can... but... I don't like to".

"Jie'er doesn't even remember her name... she has spent so long in there that she has forgotten so many things" The mother tried to caress her daughter's cheeks but sighed at her inability to do so.

"Quiet huh? I like kids like you" Richter smiled and also tried to ruffle her silver hair, failing to do so and earning a glare from Jie Yuan.

"W-What?"

"Nothing... I have spread my senses along the planet already and there are many spots of interest for me... there is something I very much want to look up around this region, but... finding my daughter is still my priority".

"You should head to this spot of yours first," He said, intending to go somewhere else but his wrist was held by Jie Yuan who stopped him.

"Aren't you coming?" She asked.

"You are unable to completely restrict your aura unlike me, Jie Yuan... your mere presence in this universe is shattering it" Richter rubbed his temples, it was okay for her to be uncaring and want to find her daughters, but this woman really wasn't paying attention to how much this world was crumbling at a fundamental level just by her standing there.

"I won't remain for long in this world, Richter... you don't need to bother" She waved her hands back and forth, having made her decision.

When she said that, Richter lifted up his eyebrows and then his interest to keep this world together vanished. If she and her daughter weren't here... then what was the point?

"Where are you going next?"

"To your world".

"..."

"Come again?"

"Your world".

"And who allowed you to do that?"

"If you don't take us along... I shall follow you upon your departure and you won't be able to prevent me from squeezing through the spatial scar once you created it... my speed is not any less than yours, Richter".

"You're saying such outrageous words so easily..."

"My daughter needs a big pond to grow and a stable world where her strength and personality can develop. Look at her, constrained by the darkness... my beloved daughter is not inclined to even speak. How can I raise her properly in this forsaken world? since you're so strong, then your world should be a better option".

'This woman... that's why strong women are a fucking headache, why can't everyone be like you, Ether?' He growled inwardly, missing his beloved submissive galactic mate.

"Do whatever you want... but I'm telling you now, I have several mates... so don't try anything funny".

"Hmph! rid your head of foolish thoughts, Golden dragon".

Jie Yuan huffed in disdain, but... unbeknownst to her... there was the slightest of blushes on her cheeks. When was the last time the strongest Devil Emperor blushed? nobody knows.
