DxD: Golden Peerage

[Do you desire to save your race from extinction? if so... accomplish a mission for me and I shall bring your race not only to salvation but also... supremacy!] Those were the words prompted in the mysterious screen in front of her as blood kept pouring out of her wounds, for Grayfia Lucifuge, a devil in the middle of the civil war against the Old Satan Faction; there could not be more treacherous yet hope-inducing words, it could be a trap, but it could not. She had the option to choose between 'Yes' and 'No'. For her who was at the edge of death with a family that needed support and a cause to fight for, there was not much of a choice. Little did she know, the mission she was tasked to do wouldn't be a simple or common one. In the faraway multiverse of Helius, one of the most powerful entities in endless existence slumbered atop his myriad treasures when his senses perceived something that shouldn't be possible. Intruders were common; Intruders remaining in his realm this long without perishing... were extremely rare. Upon appearing before the silver-haired maiden in odd attire, he huffed a breath frightening enough to make the strongest gods flee on the spot, but she remained in place - conflicted, but in place. "Before you perish, tell me... what is an ant like you doing in my realm? and why are you still alive?" Disbelief was concealed in his mighty voice. The maid thought a lot about what words had to come out of her lips for her to survive this hurdle, eventually, with her century-worth of experience in romance, she managed to find a fitting answer. "You're the Primordial Golden Dragon God, Richter-sama, right?" She asked with serenity. "Sama? I don't know about that... but you're correct. With your foot standing on my treasury realm, do you still dare ask about my identity, Demoness? you haven't-" "Richter-sama... my name is Grayfia Lucifuge and I'm here to conquer your lonely heart" "..." ** ** https://discord.gg/68Entk7Zs7 Feel free to join my discord server to have novel discussions with your peers, get illustrations and participate in polls! Cruel Fate

[Grayfia's POV]

We were led back to my room, I refused to release my master's hand. There are several things that have changed and I don't understand. One is why there are servants from all races here, even from the other mythologies such as mermaids. My mother seems to have made this castle into an asylum for fallen angels, angels and the other races. I just can't understand.

The second issue is... why is Layla concealing killing intent towards me?

Master thinks I didn't notice, or perhaps he does… right now I'm not the same I used to be. I'm a Demon Goddess.

I'm an evil being that's trying to suppress that evil, the current me doesn't even care about the hundreds of thousands that died due to my master's outburst… if their families came and offended him, I would freeze them even if we're in the wrong.

I care about my family, I care about my race... but they can't compare to how important Richter-sama is to me. Especially now when I believed I had wronged him, I felt desperate to show my worth and loyalty; he must have doubts in his heart and I must erase them in order to feel relieved.

I'm even cautious of my own family, as much as it hurts me... and Layla's gaze is telling me that my cautiousness is justified, she seemed genuinely happy to see me earlier, but then it was as if something dawned on her and she changed.

A pity... I'd like not to have to slaughter her if I can help it.

They might think I'm taking master's side… but in reality, I'm also protecting them. If master is disrespected in any way and takes offence… then he could destroy this whole area out of anger, killing them all… by setting their boundaries, I'm indirectly doing them a favour.

The last thing I want is a war between my master and the devils, what is the point of me doing the mission and going to Helius, if he is going to end up obliterating my whole race?

There isn't even the slightest doubt in my heart that they would lose this war. Therefore it is better I work as a mediator.

Thankfully, my master is a wonderful man and knows when to step back, he even met my family as if he were my husband, he has been addressing them politely, lowering himself.

I can't wait for tonight, I need to repay him plentily.

...

"This is your room, darling… we left it exactly how you had it" My mother stepped in, leading the way.

The room did look exactly as I remember it, it is a surprise, which means they replicated it exactly how I had it in the manor. The only difference is that it is bigger. But the white colours and furniture are the same.

She took a letter from the draw and my sister stood at the entrance.

"This letter was left for you by madam Calliope. She asked us to give it to you upon your arrival. It has been hundreds of years, the four satans and I have tried to open it several times, but it just won't budge" My mother said ashamedly and pushed the letter into my hands.

I sighed, it is understandable, I wouldn't be able to hold my curiosity either. She said that before, my mother asked me if I was with the mysterious woman whose statue we saw, Calliope.

I still don't know who this Calliope is… but before saying anything, I decided to read the letter first.

My mother and sister gave us some space despite the obvious curiosity in their gaze, I set up a concealing barrier around my master and me and then opened it in front of us, I wanted him to read it too just so he knew I wasn't concealing anything.

To Grayfia Lucifuge.

If you're reading this letter that means you have successfully accomplished your mission and made the Golden Dragon God fall in love with you. You must be confused and sad as to why you were sent back here on your own. Fret not for that was my intention all along. It was never your fate to be together with him. That said, I have accomplished your desire: the civil war has ended and the devils achieved supremacy in this lowly world. It was what you decreed on me and I have kept my word, just as I promised to you.

Now that our deal is sorted, I have a request for you... in the name of the experiences that we shared together: For your sake, forget Richter. His existence is mighty and lengthy his lifespan, eventually... he will forget you. It is only fair for you to move on as well. Do not question my intentions for they're beyond your comprehension.

With appreciation, Fate.

My confused expression was mirrored by my master. Just what is going on?

'System…'

'Speak to me say anything…'

The system never answered me, but it is still there. I can see my status, it even gave me the fruit, why is it refusing to answer?! there is no doubt this woman Calliope was the one I had been speaking to all this time.

*RUMBLE!*

'Your system's objective was to make me fall in love with you… then take you away from me?' There was raw anger in my master's voice and even the whole manor began to shake.

My sister and mother looked at us with concern as the whole manor began to shake, feeling how his golden aura spread forth, and he wasn't the only one, I was outraged as well!

My room began to freeze.

"Darling?! what's wrong?!"

The person behind all this had a single objective, to break my master's heart and make him sink even further into depression. It was the cruellest and most brutal of attacks.

Even he wasn't expecting this.

'Moreover, Fate… so it was Destiny after all!?' Master sent me, going as far as to take the letter for me just to make sure he was reading well.

I nodded; the message said it clearly, Fate… which is the law in the control of that other primordial, Destiny.

Master's hands blazed with a crimson flame that I had never seen and he burned the letter, I embraced him until the manor stopped shaking and shot a glance towards my concerned mother and sister who was already on guard, ready for anything.

"Could you leave us alone? we will come down in a bit".
