CH 5: Never Judge a Book by it's Cover

Yeong, side glanced at Jinwoo when the battle has ended. Daniel walked up to the passed-out students who had nosebleeds or white foam leaking out their mouths, waking them up from their slumber. On the other hand, Yeong was deeply concerned about what Jinwoo might become, yet at the same time, he couldn't help but be impressed by his resilience.

He expected him to drop down to his knees, cold sweat dripping down his forehead but no. He just stood there, looking unimpressed, or was it longing?

'No, that can't be right.'

Yeong closes his eyes for a second, breathes in, relaxes his posture, and looks up to meet the gazes of cowardly students with his usual but stern, poker face.

"Students of the fashion department." he pauses as he turns around, grabs a marker, and writes down his name on the board. "I'm Chang-Min Yeong, and I'm your substitute teacher for the next six months." the students held back a groan. He faces them again, puts his hands in his pockets, and says with a smirk; "Welcome to my class." The students felt like crying. It's going to be utter hell for the next six months.

Yeong chuckles, before returning to his original facade. The students stiffen, before scavenging their bags, taking out a pen and a notebook. Looking eager to learn.

"I have an announcement to make, put your pens down." they obeyed, even Zack, but he's just pretending to give in for Mia's sake.

"You have a new student." the class immidietly uproars with excitement, completely forgetting the terrifying incident that happened not to long ago, the moment they heard the words; "New student."

They asked aloud if it was a girl or a boy without a care in the world. Yeong smiled a bit. 'Seems like the class has calmed down a bit.'

"Find out, for yourself." the girls and boys began debating and placing bets, telling them that it was their opposite gender. Yeong smiles a bit.

"Sung Jinwoo, you can come in now." the girl's squeals. They knew they won the bet the moment the name Sung Jinwoo slipped out of Yeong's mouth. All were very positive that it was a male and not a female. The boys mopped around, feeling dejected and defeated, but still raised their heads to find out who this newbie was.

A teen walked in, about 184 cm tall, his wavy hair briskly swaying with the wind. His shoulders were pulled back, arms that were slender yet muscular upon closer inspection, and his pretty face could be labeled as 'Trophy Boyfriend'.

He looked rich despite his commoner attire and modest shoes. Perhaps because his face made the girls believe he was worth the effort since they knew that if he worked out more he would become even more dashing than now? The boys, on the other hand, didn't know why but they instinctively felt respect for him, and so did Zack.

But they quickly shoved it aside, thinking it was stupid of them to feel that way. Jinwoo looked and dressed the way a 'Victim Material' would be expected to dress like. He couldn't hurt a fly. He's only capable of defending himself to a minimal extent.

He may look confident now, but he still seemed a bit too meek to be considered a predator. [A/N: We'll see. We'll see.]

The girls openly ogle at him and Yeong just sighed. As the saying goes, simps will be simps. [A/N: I can relate.]

Jinwoo sat beside the window, rests his right arm on the desk, lay his head on his palm, and looks out.

The single girls squeal at how cool that was. On the other hand, all the boys groaned and told them to calm down because he's not even that amazing. Some of the girls roll their eyes and tell them that they're blinded by his current looks.

Many argued that Jinwoo will one day be a lot more handsome than Daniel if he continued to work out. They could tell he just started exercising by his current physique. The boys in the class, including Yeong and Jinwoo, looked at them as if they were crazy. Visibly shivering in the process.

Jinwoo mentally comforted himself, by saying that the females of his world were not this crazed. [A/N: You sure? Cuz I'm pretty sure you made yourself a sturdy harem, Jin.]

Yeong cleared his throat and coughed into his hands. The students gave him their full attention, waiting for him to speak.

"Shall we?" he asked with a foxy grin as he laxly held the black marker in his right hand. The students, excluding Jinwoo, silently prayed to God to forgive them for their sins and save them from this demon.

...

After an hour, the math class finished. All the students finally breathed.

The practice questions given out by Yeong came straight from hell.

Although Yeong tried his best to explain the topic in the most detailed and easiest way possible, the students who spent their weekends drinking (delinquents) couldn't understand a thing.

Yeong decided that they could only help themselves and asked a classmate who understood the assignment for help.

The students nodded and the troublemakers wore unnoticeable smiles on their faces, especially when looking at a certain sheep. Jinwoo.

However, Jinwoo, was by no means a sheep. He was a wolf. A king. A God (Was). However, he just prefers to live a peaceful, non-violent life. A human life. A life he wished he could go back to but couldn't after accepting the devil's deal. He didn't regret it though, because he met him and he's grateful for that.

Unfortunately, peace was never an option.

How stupid of him to think it was?

He should've known. It didn't matter if gates didn't exist, humans are all the same. If being a hunter taught him anything besides learning how to fight and kill, it's the tragic fact that most humans are more beastly than those who are categorized as one.

Jinwoo knew, from the moment he got a 100% during the practice quiz that the boring eyes of awe and ill-intent meant that he needed to fight, but it wasn't that bad. He knew they were weaker than him, even in his current body. Besides, how could he say "No" to someone willing to be his temporary punching bag? He grins lightly.

"Sung Jinwoo!" a cheerful yet mocking voice called out to him. Jinwoo remained ignorant and continued writing down his notes. The delinquent, who had died his hair red and pierced his ears grew a tick mark on his head. 'The nerve of this bastard!' thought the delinquent wearing green. "Hey, newbie!" he called out again, but this time Jinwoo lifts his head. The delinquent smirks but it quickly disappeared when he hunched back and continued scribbling down in his notebook.

Embarrassed, he threw a right jab at Jinwoo but to his surprise, instead of feeling the rock-hard cheekbones cracking slightly, he felt the firm grip of a hand, grasping and crushing his fingers like butter.

As this played out, Jinwoo wondered if he could apply his lifetime instincts and battle experience to the new him? If he could, he pondered what kind of future awaits him and- if...this world is worth being acknowledged as a sub-scenario. If it isn't, he'll make sure it will be.

Jinwoo snapped out of his thoughts when the boy screamed in pain. A split second later, he demolished his perfectly healthy front teeth, struck both his cheeks till it nearly snapped his neck, and lastly gave the red-head a deadly blow to the abdomen using the strength of 13 men. All the while, Jinwoo's death grip on him, didn't loosen.

When it finally ended, the boy collapsed to the ground and only had his left hand to barely support him. He wheezed for air before puking out his mucus and the red-stained blood that was mixed in the translucent substance. Bruised purple throughout his face and sides of his neck, he wanted to take revenge but decided not to when he looked up to meet his gaze.

It was an icy cold glare. A stare that only belonged to killers. He shivered. He knew he was at his mercy as he could've killed him but held back and it scared him. The killers he met and knows would never hold back unless it was part of a plan.

"Y-you..." he said, with his index finger pointing at him accusingly. "Are a man who has tasted blood..." he continued, voice soft and inaudible, only Jinwoo could hear him. "Hunter," he finalized before blacking out. Jinwoo's eyes widened. 'Hunter?' he thought. 'But gates don't exist. Unless that's my new title?' Jinwoo looks at him for a couple of seconds before releasing him.

The onlookers were distraught. They didn't know how to react or what to make of it. Daniel, who was steps away from Jinwoo's seat, stood still in his spot, frozen. He was surprised yet amazed at his display of power. Even so, there was an unspoken fear that lingered deep beneath Daniel's soul. Everyone present felt the same.

All (The normal students and weaker delinquents or delinquents in general) have come to unconsciously respect and fear him. Most of the powerful delinquents who witnessed the feet wanted to befriend him or make connections with him. As they all know that a powerful fighter is always a good asset to have, but it is also a beneficial protector to have for the meeker students that were constantly bullied.

The students will fight for him for their reasons or they could leave it alone since they care more for their survival.

Then again, how could anyone be stupid enough to pass up a golden opportunity that presents itself on a silver platter?

Well, no one is. They'd scramble and fight amongst themselves to get it first. Didn't matter the status, occupation, or gender. All humans are the same as they all crave power. It's been proven throughout history that humans will always seek power to fulfill their goals or purposes, be it to serve, protect, or save another life.

Unfortunately for them, Jinwoo is a man who doesn't need others to survive nor does he harbor any interest to protect those that don't care about him. Even if he did decide to align himself with someone that plans to use him, they have to be intriguing enough to be somewhat useful to Jinwoo. Except, in this world, where everything is normal, nothing but his family, past acquaintances, and the squid will appeal to him.

Perhaps, Daniel could because he has two bodies, but Jinwoo is yet to know about it and when he does, the first thing he'd do is try befriending him. Understanding him and the knew mutant forms of manna, but this is only possible if he was at least a low-class C-Rank.

As of now, Jinwoo needs to prepare for his next class and then think about what he wants to do next during lunch. Hopefully, he sits alone so he could muse in peace.
