Once they were through the gate, the group continued to walk on the road. Some of the guards gave them funny looks, but most of them were actually nice. The ones outside the gate were naturally edgier, their part of the job was much more dangerous, after all.
"Bro, that move you used with your palm was incredible! You sent that guy flying like a pig that finally grew wings!" Lucas couldn't help but feel amazed, it even left a dent in the guard's armor!
"It was nothing, it's just that his movements were so slow, that even a sloth could dodge with ease." Vitiate wasn't lying, the guard's movements looked like they were in slow motion, his skill was clearly far above the guard.
"Aw, you don't have to be humble, you completely beat those Guard's asses, haha! They will hate you forever for th... Ah!" Suddenly, Lucas was chopped on the neck by Zelman, who put his finger over his lips, indicating to him to shut up!
Lucas got the hint and shut up immediately, he looked at Vitaite's face, but his facial expression remained indifferent. Lucas sighed in relief, of course, Vitiate didn't care whether they hated him or not, it didn't matter.
"I noticed your weapon has the ability to change into a pole other than just remaining as a scythe. Where did you find such an amazing weapon, or did you buy it from some weapon's shop?"
Zelman was trying to clear up the awkward silence, so he quickly found something to talk about. Vitiate's weapon was just a scythe not too long ago, but before approaching the gate, it had turned into a pole.
"I found it in some ruins, there are several ruins in Tarnish Desert. These places are the most dangerous locations in the world with death at every corner." Vitiate came up with a lie but made it sound interesting and real.
"D-death at every corner? Were there monsters in these ruins?" Black lines appeared on Lucas's forehead, he had never explored dangerous places he knew his group couldn't handle.
"Yep, these monsters don't eat regular food, they feed off death, death gives them nutrients!" Vitiate's face turned dark for a moment before changing back.
"Ah!" Lucas jumped in fear from Vitaite change in tone and expression, he was also scared hearing about monsters that got nutrients from death.
Soon the group came to a little forest, it wasn't a forest filled with monsters. It had no monsters or anything, but just a great number of trees. What amazed Vitiate was the giant waterfall, it looked similar to Niagra falls back in his world.
Vitiate had long looked over the map he had stolen, so he knew Goa Village had a waterfall. Looking at it from afar looked even more amazing, this was all connected to the ocean, but it had to go through long rivers to reach this destination.
The lake was massive, it was schooling with fish that would jump out of the water from time to time. Vitiate could even see boats on the water, there were people gathered around the lake fishing and swimming alike.
"I should hop in for a dip, so I can cool down and flex my muscles to the ladies, haha!" Lucas saw several women in bikinis, so he couldn't help but stare with a delightful smile.
"Yuck! Are you trying to scare them away? There are kids playing around the water, are you trying to scar their young minds!?"
Zelman and Lucas started to quarrel again, this seemed to be a daily occurrence for the two. Most were out today enjoying themselves because the Village/Town was under martial law.
They would have to stay home at night, but they could come out during the day to continue their regular activities. The group continued to walk on the nicely managed road, there were several guards on the side of the road chatting and drinking liquor. They kept watch all the time, some were on horses suited in Heavy blue armor, similar to the Knights at the front gate.
As they were walking, Vitiate recalled the woman in white at the front gate. Her Strength and Aura showed how strong she was, being able to choke a few knights out at the time.
He couldn't even identify most things on her status page, only seeing Question marks on it. Vitiate saw that she was controlling the Wyvern like it was her pet, this confirmed to him that monster tamers also existed in this world.
'Her name was Lisssandra according to the knight in red, I've heard this name before.' Just as he was thinking this, he heard the voice of Zelman.
"We're here, this is Doran's Guild!" Vitiate came to himself with the sound of his voice. The building was huge, it was at least six-stories in height with windows on some places of the building. The Building was made out of some sort of Stone Brick and Dark Brown Wood.
Honestly, it looked more like a small castle than anything else. The group didn't waste any time looking at the building and walked through the wooden double doors. Vitiate followed behind them, it wasn't like he hadn't seen buildings this tall before. He was just amazed that buildings would be this big in this world.
The inside of the building looked just as amazing, the floors were made out of some unknown Sturdy Dark Red Wood. There were decorated Photos hanging up showing a certain person. There were also pictures of Dragons and other monsters hanging up on the walls.
Once they walked through the doors, many people turned their heads to look in their direction. Everyone was just having drinks while running over some missions they were planning on doing. The once lively room suddenly turned silent, it was like everyone stopped breathing.
"We, the signature 3 are back from our hard and tough journey, we fought through hordes of monsters to survive, but we did it!" Lucas put his hands on his hips with his head pointed upward, it was the stance of Victory.
Vitiate's forehead wrinkled, what monster horde!?
"Monster horde!? You guys went on a mission to kill a Ravenger Bull, how hard can it be!?" Some random man amongst the adventures spoke in a contemptuous voice.
"The three stooges came back alive again, it looks like I lost another bet, why won't you three just die already!?" Another man spat some more nonsense, but Lucas didn't seem to mind or pay any attention to them, as he walked to the reception desk with a wide smile.
Zelman wanted to say something, but he held back, he didn't have thick skin like Lucas. Rigor ignored them as well, as long as no one physically attacked him, you can trash talk as much as you want.
Vitiate followed along, he needed to sign up as an adventurer. No one paid any more attention to the group, they had better things to do, none of them gave Vitiate any attention either. But they looked again a noticed Vitiate's out of place features, particularly his hair and eyes, which were pitch black!
"A Foreigner?"
"I haven't seen him around here before, he must be from another continent or something."
"He came in with the 3 stooges, is he their friend or something? If he is, he better stay away from those idiots or they'll drag him down in no time."
"His hair and eyes are as black as night, how is that possible?"
Normally, they wouldn't pay much attention to newcomers despite them rarely having any. Sadly, his features stuck out too much. Most commoners had Brown hair or maybe some other color, but black was extremely rare in the world.
Behind the desk was a woman with curly Magenta hair, she wore a professional suit to match her field of work. Her eyes were violet, she had two diamond earrings on, she was playing with her nails that looked like they just got done at a nail salon. The woman didn't pay any attention to the people who walked in and continued to look and play with her nails.
However, once she heard Lucas's voice her face turned a bit strange.
"My beautiful queen, I'm back from a hard battle, I need a kiss to heal my wounds, ugh!" Lucas acted like he had been through war, as he faked like he couldn't stand by holding onto the receptionist's desk.
"Uh oh, will Linda give our hero a kiss to heal his body and spirit from the war he's been through?"
"Give him a wet one right on the lips, that'll heal him of any wounds from the past and even future!"
Several adventurers teased and found Lucas's shameless behavior quite funny. Vitiate almost laughed, but he endured, this guy was something else.
"You Damn fatty, get lost!" Linda face palmed Lucas as he fell to the floor with a handprint on his face. "If you didn't complete your mission, then you'll be deducted points for your failure, so did you complete it or not?"
"Agh, my poor soul, how could the sweet and beautiful Linda be so cold? At least a hug will do, right?" Lucas made a sad dog face as he stood up, he was pleading for comfort.
Vitiate's lips twitched.
"Don't you have a fiancee already, why are you hitting on other women? If I were your fiance, I would have beaten your face in until it was black and blue!"
Linda smirked, she already had information on Lucas and most adventurer here. Hearing what she said, Lucas went silent and backed away. Rigor shook his head, there was more to this story than what it seemed. Zelman sighed and took the storage bag from Lucas's waist; handing it to Linda.
"Here, we've completed the mission." Linda smiled and took the storage bag to confirm the goods. She took the bag in the back to take the bull away, then handed it back to Zelman.
"Very Good! Here is your reward, 15 silver coins. Congratulations, you and your party can now be promoted to F++ Rank! Hand me your Guild id's, so I can have them all updated." Rigor, Zelman, and Lucas handed her their card id's, then she handed them to some other woman to upgrade them.
Once they were done, Vitiate walked forward.
"What can I do for you, sir?" Linda smiled as usual and asked nicely.
"Yes, I'm trying to sign up to become an Adventurer, is there something I have to fill out?"
Linda quickly pulled out a pen and application, she told him that it would cost 1 silver coin to become an adventurer. Vitiate found it ridiculous to pay to get a job, it didn't make any sense to him, but he paid it anyway.
Linda told him if he couldn't read or write, then she would write and read it for him. This was almost common, most people didn't have a proper education and couldn't read or write, while some were just illiterate.
Fortunately, Vitiate could read and write this world's language, which made her see him in a great light. The application didn't ask much, it asked him his name, or what name he would like to go by if he didn't want to give out this information.
The application questioned him about his battle experiences and if he had a criminal record, it was pretty much like a job application but with you not needing to answer things you didn't want to.
Vitiate went to sit at a table to write all of this, before handing it to her. Once it was confirmed, he waited ten minutes before being handed a Plain White Guild Card.
The Guild Card showed where he signed up to become an adventurer. This card also showed his rank and his name or the name he went by. The name Vitiate chose for himself was Monster Slayer instead of Hunter.
The card had the number zero on it in black.
After receiving his Guild Card, his name was recorded into a special Document with his picture! His picture was even on his card, it was like an identification to prove who he was. The Adventurer's Guild had something special around the door that Vitiate didn't know about.
There was a special device around the doors of the Guild that was able to identify if someone was human or not! It was good that Vitiate was able to fool the device set in place, but this was to be expected, he had so many ways to hide his stats and skills.
"So, I'm an F-Rank? How does the ranking system work here?" Vitiate was going to ask about the currency as well, but that question might be too weird, so he opted to just ask Rigor about it, afterward. Vitiate had an idea of how the ranks worked, but he had to be sure if his thoughts were right or not.
"The System starts from the lowest to the highest, with F Rank being the lowest and SSS-Rank being the Highest. Of course, there are ranks higher than that, but those types of people work for the royal families or teach at prestigious Academies, so they rarely act."
These people made a lot of money doing these jobs, some were even qualified to become nobles because of their strength. But to become a noble, you would have to be initiated by a Queen, King, Empress or Emperor.
Linda explained that the Ranks above SSS-Rank were M, GM, and Ex, with Ex Being the Highest. All ranks had a single plus to a double plus before reaching the next tier. The only ranks that didn't have pluses in them were S-Rank and above.
Author Note: What I mean is like F+ and F++ for example.
After telling him this, she pointed to a large board on the wall that had an abundance of missions on it that needed to be taken care of. Vitiate thanked her and went to check the board out, but found that it was only giving out F to E++ Ranked Missions.
"What'll be my first mission?"
