A Persevering Heart Part III

“Five minutes with this dragon? Well, I might not die from the skill, but the hand of the dragon.” Although he spoke in a stern tone, the tone was tinged with playfulness.

The player must defeat the enemy in five minutes, if not, the player will be in a game-over state.

The system’s voice stated the condition that he already knew. Despite sounding as if he might give in, he did the opposite. He immediately checked his first seven cards.

“Equip!”

The 6-star Crystal Armor card was activated first. He summoned it first because he had made up his mind that he would not dodge around or buff his stats as his Max HP was multiplied thirty times. Everything came down to his attacks and Summons.

“Summon! Equip!” Tan immediately summoned a Shining Bird and a 4-star Elf’s Bow. His MP went down to 8. The cards that remained in his hand were a Treasure Chest Monster, three Magic Cards, and a 4-star Black Wolf card. The Crystal Lizard was not there.

“741!”

Tan leaned against the wall and shot at the dragon on top of the castle.

“1,547!”

The Shining Bird could not deal much damage to the Dimension Dragon. It was probably because of its thick skin and the power inside its crystal scales.

Eizenger turned its gaze towards the direction that the attacks came from. Its blue eyes stared at the boy below and then turned to the Shining Bird that flew around its head. The dragon slightly opened its mouth, showing off its teeth. Its wings started to move as a roar rang out. The dragon turned towards the bird, which was ten times smaller in size, as a black energy ball was formed before its mouth. The energy ball was shot out at the Shining Bird that flew through the snowstorm.

Miss…With its speed, the Shining Bird survived the attack and rushed towards the enemy again.

“1,570!”

At the same time, Tan, who was currently leaning against the wall, constantly fired his arrows at the dragon on top of the castle. He was not thinking about dodging. The only plan he had was to attack with all his might and use whatever cards he drew without running away.

He literally had his back against the wall…

“751!” “749!”

“749!” “740!”

“757!” “743!”

These were the last damage that the Shining Bird could deal with its enemy. The Dimension Dragon spread its wings and flew to the bird. It let loose a roar before biting on the bird, perishing it into shining spheres of light just like its name.

“4,751!”

After taking care of the Shining Bird, Tan was its only target. The dragon shot out black energy that gathered around in the form of balls.

Dimension Blast! The system announced Eizenger’s move. After the voice rang out, numbers indicating damage popped up above Tan’s body.

“1,712!” “1,780!”

“1,774!” “1,740!”

“1,796!” “1,775!”

Tan had around 100,000 HP after receiving the buff, but the first attack targeting him from the Dimension Dragon dealt a total amount of about 10,000 damage.

One minute had passed…

Tan had only four minutes left…He finally drew the cards he had been waiting for, Crystal Lizard. He quickly activated the card.

“Summon!”

After his voice rang out, a reptile monster with a crystallized body suddenly appeared. The Crystal Lizard was summoned to the battlefield in exchange for a Black Wolf, a magic card, and…the Treasure Chest Monster.

“Summon!”

With its special ability, the Treasure Chest Monster could be summoned by using only 1 MP after it was sent to the Graveyard. It appeared with its ultimate move…Bloody Genocide!

The chest monster’s ultimate move made the Dimension Dragon stop momentarily. The Crystal Lizard took this opportunity and shot out an ice lance at the dragon.

“1,987!”

The damage dealt was not as powerful as he thought. “It isn’t weak against Ice element…” Tan said as he rapidly shot arrows at the dragon. It was then that the Dimension Dragon started to behave strangely. It flew to the top of the castle again and covered its body with its huge wings. A Black light lit up at its head; powerful force could be felt. Suddenly, the dragon shot out a huge beam, covering up a large area.

“Nano Blast!” The system announced the dragon’s move.

“6,759!”

“8,547!”

“8,102!”

As the force of the dimensions from the dragon flooded out, damage respectively appeared above Tan, the treasure monster, and the lizard.

Two minutes had passed…Only three minutes left before game-over.

Tan was about to activate a card in his hand. It was a 4-star Magic Card that Blanche gave him because he did not use it anymore. Normally, it was a useless card for Tan, but in this situation, it made him widen his eyes as soon as it appeared. “I forgot that I could use it this way…Thanks, Blanche,” Tan said and activated the card.

“Magic!”

It was the card that had the same effect as Blanche’s Regen skill. Normally, it would be of little use because it helped recover only a small amount of HP. However, with Tan currently having about 100,000 HP, this card became very effective for this situation as every minute, his HP would recover by 10,000 points.

He no longer had to care about his HP…The only thing he must focus on was launching attacks!

Tan continued attacking the dragon with his Elf’s Bow. His weapon had a special ability, but the condition was not met yet. It was a card that Blanche got his hands on when he explored a dungeon located in the north. Many people wanted the card, but he had to sell it in the capital city. Tan had initially refused to take the card, but after Blanche kept asking him constantly to do so, he was left with no choice but to take it along with a few others.

His arrows dealt relatively high damage to the Dimension Dragon and were then followed by the attacks from the chest monster and the lizard.

The battle between Tan and Eizenger raged on fiercely. The boy was standing before the boss of the Crystal Castle; his back leaned against the wall while his hands continually fired arrows at the crystallized body of the dragon and its transparent wings. “Urgh…!” Tan shouted as he shot arrows without stopping. It was then that the Dimension Dragon took revenge.

“7,489!”

“8,123!”

The dragon attacked Tan who was on the ground with its claws. It then stomped its feet on the ground and flew back into the sky, filled with snowy winds.

Tan had only two minutes left before game-over…

As the death clock moved forward, a card was drawn after a minute had passed. Mammon, the fire Demon of Greed, was the card that was drawn. Tan had exactly two monsters on the field; he could sacrifice the two monsters and summon Mammon, but the problem was his MP which had just recovered to 4 points. He needed another 3 points to summon the demon.

“4,720!”

The chest monster was struck by the dimension force. The damage it took exceeded its HP resulting in it perishing into spheres of light. The only monster left on the field was Crystal Lizard…The path for summoning Mammon was destroyed.

“Darn it!” Tan gritted his teeth as he constantly shot Eizenger with his bow. The snowy wind blew past, freezing both of his hands with frost. He still fired his arrows no matter how cold it was.

His arrows dealt greater damage than before. “My HP seems to be below half…” He continued, “This battle is indeed tough. Luckily, the effect of this arrow was activated.”

A bow that is used among the Dark Elves, made from ancient magic and a branch of the Forest Protector. When the user has HP lower than 40%, the effect is activated.

- When HP is lower than 40%, increases Attack by 10%

- When HP is lower than 30%, increases Attack by 20%

- When HP is lower than 10%. increases Attack by 40%

- When HP is lower than 0%, the player dies
