Dragon Tears

Secrets. We all keep them. Some tend to protect us from harm. Others tend to lead us to it. While Kayda’s secret is one that haunts her. Kayda isn’t human. She never was. All her life, she knew that. The words thrown at her and the fear filled gazes that watched her showed just how much of a monster she was. But she isn’t what those people think she is either. She’s kept her fair amount of secrets hidden. And she intended to keep them, until her barriers we torn down. Kayda has already had her lifetimes worth of pain and misery along with those secrets she keeps. She spent so long fighting, so long trying to survive, that one day, she finally snapped. Her sanity was shredded by the creatures called humans. She was torn down piece by piece to be used as entertainment slowly corroding away what once was her mind. Only to be built back up again to repeat the gruesome process. So she finally gave up. Now, she is nothing but a beast. At least, that’s what she portrays to be. And she would have continued to play her part as the feral pet, but what happens when Dimitri appears? A cold and calculative man, who appeared in what she thought would be her last moments. A man who seemed to have even more secrets then even her, but was still able to show a side of himself that even she had lost. He was ruthless, cold blooded, calculative, and even, warm? So what happens when he’s out on a mission and meets a creature he quickly wants to dismiss? A creature that he had no interest in until he met her eyes. How exactly is Dimitri going to carefully piece Kayda back together again? And how is Kayda going to react to the unfamiliar kindness shown by a stranger? What’s his motive? ———————- “So, your saying, that because you saved me from death, I’m now in your debt?” Kayda was intrigued but at the same time annoyed, seeing the charming tilt in Dimitri’s lips. And as she stared, Dimitri reveled in her gaze. “You could say that.” His mischievous voice didn’t go unnoticed and Kayda felt a slight twitch at the corner of her lip. With a glow in her eyes, she walked up to Dimitri who was staring her down. “I’ll repay a favor. But I’ll never be in your debt.” Slamming a hand down, she growled. “The Goddess wanted me dead for a reason. You’re lucky I don’t show you why.” Dimitri grinned with amusement when suddenly, his hand snaked its way around her waist. “Even the Goddess can’t take you away from me.” He whispered. ————————————- ‘The cover was not made, and is not owned by me. : Little Dragon

Dimitri watched the entire process, and when Clouse finished his spell, the collar fell off her neck when they both noticed something was wrong.

When the spell had finished, she suddenly doubled over. The mana in the room suddenly thickened and started to swarm towards Kayda.

Both Clouse and Dimitri were shocked but before they could do anything, more mana had suddenly bursted into the room, causing Clouse to sweat as Dimitri instantly lunged towards Kayda.

"Clouse! We need to stop the mana. If we don't stop it now, it will overwhelm her and we'll both go down when it detonates!"

Dimitri's words instantly snapped Clouse out of his stupor. His casual countinace turned grave as he started to set up barriers he would usually use on enemies to inhibit the amount of mana in the area, but it didn't stop the oncoming rush of mana but only slowed it down.

Dimitri went over to Kayda, he looked down on her as she had passed out from being suddenly slammed with such a massive amount of mana all of a sudden.

Her forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat as she unconsciously moaned and squirmed under the massive pressure forced into her.

The air around Dimitri turned grave as the air around them turned even thicker with mana that for normal people, would make it unbearably hard to breath. But Dimitri seemed to be unaffected.

Kneeling down, he scooped Kayda into his arms. Her frail figure easily fitted into his arms as he held her close to his chest, seeming to shield her from the oncoming onslaught of mana.

Suddenly, the air around him started to freeze. With a single breath, frost started to form around him, turning his breath into a cloud of mist.

Shocked at the sudden drop in temperature, Clouse spun around to look at Dimitri.

"Concentrate!"

Dimitri's yell forced Clouse to turn away while gritting his teeth.

Dimitri continued to release his own mana to clash against the mana forcing its way into Kayda.

His own mana started to freeze the ground under him creating a barrier around himself and Kayda which still laid unconscious in his arms.

"Dimitri! The barriers are cracking!"

Clouse became nervous when he noticed the cracks in the barriers he had set up to combat against the mana to try and stop it from overwhelming them. But the mana had started to condense to such a degree that they could see it like a fog filling the room.

Dimitri scowled as he looked down at the small creature in his arms. At this rate, Kayda would be suffocated to death by the amount of mana pushing its way into her body.

Just when the barriers seemed to be unable to withstand the pressure any longer, everything seemed to freeze.

The air stilled like time had stopped and no one dared to even breathe.

And like a sudden clap of thunder, mana burst forth from Kayda's body, pushing both Clouse and Dimitri who were suddenly caught off guard by the sudden reverse in the situation.

When Dimitri looked up to see what happened, the only thing he saw was Kayda lying on the ground as the mana in the room suddenly dispersed like the whole situation never happened.

Dimitri knitted his brows together while Clouse was still confused at what just happened.

"Clouse. What effects does the earlier situation have on your spells?"

Clouse looked up at Dimitri with confusion before his face slightly turned pale.

Cursing under his breath, Clouse suddenly jumped up.

"We need to leave right now. They could go off any second with that amount of mana supplying them."

Dimitri nodded. He walked over to Kayda and picked her up before both him and Clouse quickly made their way out of the manor in which the underground dungeon was located.

Right when they made it into the edge of the forest that surrounded the manor, the ground shook as the manor suddenly burst into flames.

Dimitri didn't even bother to look back as they made their way deeper into the woods.

It was dark. The only sound she could hear was the occasional clink against metal bars.

"Hey. You ok kid?"

Looking up, Kayda's eyes met a person in the cage next to her.

Their hair was short and they had neutral looks, making it hard to distinguish if they were a boy or a girl.

"Ya. Where am I?"

Her voice was small and delicate. And when she looked up, her face showed that of a little girl. Her eyes bright and big as she looked around nervously.

Looking down upon the small creature looking back and forth innocently, the person in the other cage chuckled.

"You're at the Black Sea Arena. Well, more like you're a part of it now."

Confused, Kayda looked up innocently with a slight tilt in her head, showing her confusion.

With a smile, the person leaned against the bars separating their cages.

"Come closer. We don't want the guards to hear us or we could get in trouble."

Nodding, Kayda crawled over with her tail dragging behind her.

When she got close enough, she finally noticed the long scar running down the person's face, directly covering one eye.

Smiling, the other person looked at the little creature who stared at her obvious scar.

"My name is Beatrix. But you can call me Trix, little dragon."

Trix put her arm through the bars and held out her hand towards Kayda.

Kayda looked up at her for a second before she suddenly beamed.

Taking Trix's hand, Kayda shook it with a smile.

"I'm Kayda. Nice to meet you Trix."

Trix looked down at Kayda. She smiled but it didn't reach her eyes which held a deep sadness looking at such an innocent kid knowing full well that her innocence wouldn't last in this place.

"Kayda. What a pretty name. Stick with me little dragon and you'll be fine"

Kayda continued to smile, not noticing the sadness in Trix's eyes.
