CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Chloe's P.O.V

I wiped the tears away from my eyes and walked back to the waiting room where Hayley and Silvia waited for me.

He doesn't remember me.

"Hey how'd it go?" Hayley asked as I went and took a seat beside her.

"He woke up," I said slowly.

"That's great, you must be so relieved!" Silvia spoke excitedly.

"He… doesn't remember me," I said slowly.

"What?" Hayley asked to repeat it again.

"I said he doesn't remember me," I explained, upset.

"What, why?" She asked outraged.

"I don't know, they are looking him over now," responded, numb.

"So he has amnesia?" Silvia asked, biting her lower lip nervously.

I shrugged.

How can he not remember me?

Doesn't he love me?

Is he going to go back to his parents?

So many questions but absolutely no answers for any of them.

Colby's P.O.V

The doctor told me to follow her fingers as she shown a flashlight in my eyes, I did as I was told.

"What's the last thing you remember Colby?" The doctor questioned as she wrote down something on her clipboard.

"The last thing I remember is being at school I got into a guy because he was threatening me." I said honestly.

I don't remember anything, if that girl is my girlfriend there is only one person she could be.

After ten minutes of questioning, the doctor decided to bring the girl back into the room and she was quiet and Solemn.

She sat in a chair that was next to my bed, I stared at her, her eyes were ice her hair was dark, I'm trying to put a name to her face.

"My name is Chloe," she said slowly.

Chloe, where have I heard that name before.

"You saved me from your parents, we were going to run away but we brought your friend along and she got upset and shot you." She explained watching my reactions.

My friend?

"You mean Lucey?" I asked confused.

She would never hurt me…. Would she?

"You said you were my girlfriend but your pregnant, and I was in a coma." I said half accusingly.

She didn't get mad or upset over the fact I accused her of cheating.

"I can see why you would think that, Colby. Before we ran away you took me to a beach on the other side of town, you made us a picnic and we watched the waves come in and the stars come out, and on that beach we made love, it was my first time, and I'll forever hold onto those moments even if you can't. After Lucey shot you, a stranger helped me bring you here. I was so scared but there was one person's number I had and I called her, and she helped me ever since she took me to a doctor because I thought I was getting sick, it turns out I was pregnant." She explained as she placed her hand on her overly large stomach.

The wheels in my head were spinning but no recognition of any of what she says was true.

I can't just not believe her, she looks heartbroken so I took her hand, and looked into her eyes, they sparkled with tears.

"I don't remember anything, but I believe you Chloe, I don't know why I believe you but I do." I say honestly as she holds my hands tighter.

"There is a chance that you will get your memories back. It might take a long time but it is a possibility," The doctor said with hope.

"I hope so, a lot of this is really confusing to me," I said honestly.

Colby's P.O.V

Chloe got up and walked closer to me but hesitated.

"Can I give you a hug?" She asked.

I nodded and got up slowly and wrapped my arms around her as she placed her head on my chest, her body oddly familiar against mine.

"I'll be back. I have to process your paperwork, I'll give the two of you a chance to talk." She said, finishing writing something down and leaving.

"She looked up at me and my body took over as I caressed her cheek wiping the tears away from her eyes and pulled her chin up gently as I placed my lips against hers.

Her tears soaked my cheeks as they ran down her face.

My world feels upside down, but she must be feeling the same thing she might have had help but I wasn't by her side when she needed me the most.

I slowly let her go and she sniffled quietly.

"I'm sorry I can't remember anything," I broke the silence feeling awkward.

She shook her head violently.

"It's okay, with everything that happened I'm just happy you're alive," she wiped her tears away.

She held onto my hands securely as if she'd let go and I'd wisp away.

The doctor came through the door minutes later with her clipboard, and Chloe let me go.

"Okay so what you're going through is traumatic amnesia," the doctor explained walking over to my heart monitor.

"What does that mean?" Chloe asked worriedly.

"It means he doesn't remember anything because of how traumatic the situations were." She explained writing something down from my heart monitor.

"Will I ever get those memories back?" I asked, glancing at Chloe's face.

"There is a possibility with therapy," she began.

"Okay so what now?" I asked sitting on the side of my hospital bed.

"We can get you ready to go home, however you need to come in for periodic check ups.

"Okay, I understand." I agreed, waiting for her to take out the needles from my arms.

"I will make you an appointment to see one of our therapists, and we can go from there." She said, writing more words down before coming over to unattach the needles from my veins.

I hissed as she unhooked me feeling them slide out of my veins.

Chloe nauseously looked away from the blood pooling down my arm.

The doctor wrapped up my arm and passed me some clothes.

"This is what she brought you in," they were crusted with blood and I swallowed hard.

"I bought you new clothes, they're at Hayley's," Chloe explained grimacing at the clothes.

"Okay," I replied, taking the clothes from the doctor.

I got up and stiffly walked to the bathroom.

Chloe smiled before I closed the door.

I quickly got dressed in the blood crusted clothes, I felt dirty and in need of a shower.

I looked in the mirror, my head wrapped in gauze and crusted blood where I got shot.
