Chapter 1: A cliché reincarnation.
In a normal neighborhood, the sun is rising, casting a warm glow upon the land, blessing it with light and warmth. The still cold morning breeze is flowing through the aisles, making the scene quite pleasant for all those early birds who are just up to start a new day.
The camera zooms in towards a normal two-story house.
A middle-aged man is enjoying his morning coffee by the window while listening to his favorite radio show. He glances at the wall clock to check the time. It is 7 o'clock in the morning.
The man starts heading upstairs towards the far-left room. He gently opens the door, and what welcomes him is a messy room, with clothes on the desk chair, game cartridges scattered on the floor, and tons of posters of muscular men hanging on the wall (looks like the room belongs to a JOJO fan).
He makes his way towards the bed where a teenage boy is sleeping peacefully. Next to the boy is a smartphone and a pair of reading glasses. Seeing this, the man just sighs. It seems like his son spent another night reading online novels/fanfics until he fell asleep.
"Jason," the man calls his son's name softly.
The boy, however, shows no reaction and is still asleep.
"Son, it is time to wake up. You will be late to school; I will be going to work in a bit." The man gently shakes his son to wake him up.
The boy finally shows some reaction, and after a couple of seconds of his father calling his name and shaking, he is awake.
"Good morning, Dad," the boy says as he rubs his eyes to rub off the sleep fairy dust around his eyes.
"Good morning, son," the man replies, while making his way towards the door.
"Quickly freshen up, you will be late for your class. Breakfast is on the table; it is your favorite, toast and rose jam," the man instructs his son as he makes his way towards the stairs.
The boy perks up at the mention of food and quickly makes his way towards the bathroom to do his morning routine. He zooms back to his room and starts wearing his outdoor clothes. He stumbles upon one of the game cartridges, kicking it under the bed by accident.
"Man, I have to clean up my room. Nah, I will do it tomorrow," the boy says as he is putting on his socks. He has been saying that for the last week or so. It seems that his room will remain messy till the end of summer.
Jason makes his way downstairs and heads straight to the kitchen and starts having breakfast while his father is packing some important-looking documents and notes in his bag.
"Alright, son. Make sure to put the dishes in the dishwasher after you finish, and here is your pocket money and some extra for lunch. I might be late today at work," the man says to his son as he hands him a glass of orange juice and some money.
"Thanks, Dad. So, pizza for lunch today, huh," Jason replies as he accepts the money and puts it in his wallet.
The man hums and grabs his keys, puts on his shoes, and heads to the main entrance.
"Alright, son, I will be heading out. Make sure to turn off the radio before going out, okay?" the man says, and Jason just gives a thumbs up while wolfing down the slice of toast with jam on it.
The man then heads out and closes the door behind him.
'So, what to do today, huh? First, let's go to classes and see if any of the boys have any plans for today,' Jason thought to himself.
Fast forward the morning scene and we see Jason on his way to school while reading the final chapters from the novel that he is binging right now. He is reading 'Douluo Dalu 2 - Peerless Tang Sect' and feels frustrated as he watches the main character, Huo Yuhao, be a family slave for the god king Tang San and his stitched monster of a daughter.
'Bruh, I like the world of Douluo Dalu, but this Tang San is really ruining it for me.' He just sighs as he closes the novel and opens a podcast app to listen to an episode from his favorite podcast 'Trash Taste'.
While he is fiddling with his phone and crossing the street as the light has turned red, he fails to notice the speeding truck that is coming his way.
And as expected,
*BAAM*
He is thrown out like a rag doll across the street, while the truck loses control and hits one of the street lights and stops.
'W-What happened to me? The lights are getting dimmer and dimmer, the pain is unbearable. Am I dying? I can't feel half my body, and the other half hurts like hell.' Forming thoughts is becoming more difficult to form coherently for little Jason.
He is experiencing hell before his inevitable departure.
'Fuck, it was a truck, wasn't it? Do I even have a chance to survive this? No, do I really want to survive this? If I survived this accident, I would be a cripple. Ah, maybe death is the better option in this case.' The world is getting darker and darker for our Jason.
'Before my death, I need to do something important.' He summons all his willpower to move his adrenaline-infused arm to reach out to his broken phone that somehow is still working just barely, but that is enough for the task.
He opens his contacts and messages a person called 'Timmy'.
[Delete search history]
Just a clear and simple line sent to his best friend. He trusts his bro will do the job as he can't afford to die twice: first by a truck and second by having his search history leaked.
After clicking send, he opens another contact named 'Dad'.
[Love you, dad.]
After sending the last message, his shattered screen finally gives up and turns off. It seems like fate was kind enough to let him convey his last words to his loved ones.
'Ah, so this is the end for me. It wasn't so bad. I have given and received love in my life, so I am not really sad about my death. I am just worried about Dad.' The world is getting hazier and darker for Jason, yet as it is growing darker, he is strangely calm.
He positions his face towards the rising sun and simply watches it rise high in the sky.
'It is very beautiful.' That was the final thought as Jason draws his last breath. Amidst all the chaos and screams of people, little Jason passed away with a calm smile on his bloodied face.
Well, this is the start of a new journey for Jason. Let's hope he survives in this new journey.
