Working Again

Chapter 14 — Working Again

To comprehensively understand the power of Soul Blood, I experimented a lot in a secluded spot.

The park was the perfect place.

As for the Cold Force, it mysteriously vanished from within my body. The same went for my dantian and energy channels.

Even after obtaining Soul Blood, I still couldn't release it outside my body. This was like an innate disability condition. Still, it didn't only come with just a drawback. It made it difficult to sense my presence and energy signature.

I activated Soul Blood within the newly opened aperture of my heart before performing various simple punches and kicks. My movements are as fast and sharp as lightning strikes. After testing out my speed and strength, I followed out with some exercises.

In the end, I was able to determine how Soul Blood works, as well as how formidable the enhancement it brought to my body.

"Unlike normal Soul Masters that need to actively reinforce their body, Soul Blood moves by itself like a flowing river across my body, therefore automatically reinforcing my body. It also provided a much powerful body reinforcement with the fusion of Soul Power and Blood Essence."

I nodded satisfiedly.

Still, it wasn't like there were not some downsides to it.

"This passive reinforcement continually consumes Soul Blood. I have no way of stopping the reinforcement. It was even way harder to have a way of effectively controlling it like normal Soul Power."

I couldn't tell whether this change was good or bad.

Nonetheless, I found myself to be satisfied since there were more positive sides than negative sides to it.

I then remembered something about Soul Blood.

Since it is also related to blood…

"Has it also affected my Purple Blood?"

Therefore, I decided to try out my thoughts as I activated the two bloods at the same time.

Swischhhh!

Expressionlessly, I sliced my palm open to spill blood.

I was already used to harming myself, so I no longer raised my brows from it like it was something normal to do.

The dagger was soaked by the blood, and I saw it gradually melting away.

"Amazing. To think its corrosiveness has already reached such a degree…"

I knew Purple Blood would exhibit different kinds of effects depending on the target it met. However, I knew its corrosiveness against metallic targets wasn't this strong before.

And soon enough, I slightly widened my eyes upon seeing the wound immediately regenerating. I could feel the two bloods around its area changing into a hardened state to stop the bleeding and heal it after closing the wound.

"The combination of Purple Blood and Soul Blood can automatically harden and soften to immediately close wounds, as well as healing it quickly! But as expected, this new function consumes my Soul Blood."

With my body's strong healing factor, the Spirit Heart's Life Attribute, and the power of the two bloods, I now have an extremely powerful regeneration speed.

I clenched my fist tightly.

"My biological weapon has grown more amazing!"

As a new morning came, It was finally time for me to start working again.

Of course, the work I meant was forging as a blacksmith.

After walking for a few minutes, I managed to arrive at the front of a large blacksmith workshop.

The exterior of the workshop seemed somewhat shabby. On top of the metal door, three words were written:

Mang Tian's Workshop.

Even as I stood outside with the door shut tightly, the smell of metal was still able to assault my sensitive nostrils.

"The smell of metal doesn't change…"

I pushed the doorbell, and it was not long before the door opened. A middle-aged man soon stood in the doorway.

The middle-aged man was tall and dark skinned. With his full beard, he appeared somewhat fierce and tough.

"Hmm, who are you?" His voice sounded low and forceful.

"I want to join your workshop."

"You?"

He remained expressionless.

"Kid, how old are you?"

"Six."

"Do you even know how to forge?"

"Yes."

"You're not lying?"

"Yes."

Hearing the same monotonous reply repeatedly, Meng Tian sighed tiredly.

"Come inside. I'll soon know whether you are lying or not."

Nodding, I followed Meng Tian into the chaotic hall of the workshop. The hall was littered with all sorts of metal components. Most of these were likely components for soul machines, though.

Mang Tian didn't pause as he walked deeper into the workshop.

And I silently followed his steps.

The workshop wasn't too large nor too small. After passing through the halls, Meng Tian brought me to one of the inner rooms.

Inside of the room was a workbench made from advanced technology. In fact, the workshop was filled with all sorts of things made from modern technology.

It was a real eye-opening experience for the current ignorant me.

"Try that machine." Meng Tian pointed to the side.

On the side was a half meter tall metal table where a round lump of metal lay silently. There was a soul machine screen below it.

Mang Tian picked up two small metal hammers from the side and held them out to me.

"You see that lump of metal? Use this hammer to strike it a thousand times. The screen will display the number of hits with sufficient strength. I want to see your strength first."

After speaking, he placed the two hammers in my hands.

The metal hammers were pretty small and appropriate for my age. They weighed about five kilograms each. For a normal six year old child, this wasn't light at all, let alone the fact of swinging it a thousand times."

I grabbed the hammers from him, not even bothered by the weights.

"Pretty light."

Waving it around with ease, I thought that the hammer I used previously was a lot heavier.

Meng Tian incredulously looked at me, who was easily waving the hammers.

I gazed at the soul machine with the same expressionless face.

"Hey Uncle, aren't you looking down on me too much?" I quipped while inwardly feeling annoyed.

"What do you mean?"

"That machine is to test my strength and willpower, right?"

"Yes, so?"

"As I've said, don't underestimate my forging ability. I'm not a beginner, but a 2nd Rank Blacksmith."

If my forging ability was looked down on, it was the same as looking down on my master.

Meng Tian looked as if he just heard the most absurd words in his life.

"A six-years-old kid like you is a 2nd Rank Blacksmith? Your jokes aren't funny."

"Then test me for real."

I replied with two red orbs that looked calm as the water of a deep well.

"You'll soon know whether I'm lying or not after it."

I used his own words from earlier against him.

"Hmm, I hate your overconfidence. This is why I dislike kids who haven't opened their eyes to the cold reality."

He mumbled before gesturing to me to follow him.

Arriving at another workshop, Meng Tian took out a rare lump of heated metal before placing it before me.

"Using this rare metal, make a medium-sized component that has been Hundred Refined."

He instructed with piercing eyes.

"I'll believe your words only if you can manage to do it."

I nodded calmly before requesting something.

"I want a hammer that is very heavy to use when forging. And It would be the best if it's a two-handed hammer."

"Okay, wait for me." Meng Tian went somewhere to grab a hammer met my request.

He soon arrived with a jet-black hammer that was large and tall.

"Here, this hammer weighs about 50 kilograms."

Meng Tian explained while handing the hammer to me.

"I guess this hammer is enough."

I reached out for the hammer before raising it very easily with two arms.

"I can't believe he lifted such a heavy hammer so easily! Does he have the famed Divine Strength!?"

Meng Tian was now looking interested.

"Can he swing that heavy hammer hundreds of times?"

I quietly neared the rare metal before knocking on it a few times. Feeling the vibrations it emitted, I was able to sense how durable and dense it was, as well as figuring out its vein lines.

"A good start… It looks like he at least has some basics as a blacksmith."

Meng Tian closely watched my actions with his perceptive eyes.

Operating the Steel Breathing Method to sharpen my mind and body, I took my position before heated metal, decisively raising the hammer with both arms.

'Kill!'

I swung the hammer down with my entire body moving smoothly like cogs of a flowing river.

The sound of Heart of Steel was resounding grandly.

Body and Hammer as One!

Bang!

One…

Bang!

Two…

Bang!

Three…

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

One after another, and another, and another, thunderous crisp sounds came without stopping.

Like a wheel, the hammed rained down countlessly on the metal, causing its size to shrink down and molded into shape.

Amazing!

Meng Tian wore a surprised expression.

"His forging technique has already reached a level beyond his current rank. He displays an almost perfect control of strength…!"

Not only that—

"The Rebound Mitigation Technique has already reached the level where his strikes borrow power from the rebounds to empower the next strike, making each strike powerful with each swing! It is like a spinning wheel!"

"I can see his perception is also extremely great and special. It has already reached a level where it allows him to understand metal to a deep level!"

"This…"

"A devilish genius beyond words can describe!"

Meng Tian felt like he had found and struck gold. He watched the hammer pound the metal for hundreds of times before realizing something in between.

"Why is he not using Soul Power…? Don't tell me he's been swinging that 50kg hammer hundreds of times purely with his own physical body!???"

Meng Tian was stunned speechlessly.

"A monster with an unnatural amount of physical strength…"

As he was praising me nonstop, he soon noticed something else.

As he watched, the image of me soon turned into a figure clad in darkness with bloodthirsty red eyes that kept pounding the blazing hammer of rage down to the metal, causing the metal to howl vividly with pleasure and joy.

"Why does he forge so ragefully? There's no passion, only pure burning rage…"

Meng Tian felt goosebumps from watching me forging so intensely. It felt like his soul was getting sucked into the pits of overwhelming rage, causing his heart to pound excitedly.

"It is similar yet different from Evil Spirit Forging…"

Bang!

With that last swing, the metal was transformed successfully into a medium-sized metal component. It seemed to be bestowed with the spirit of death, a red veil of light appearing over the surface of the metal component.

I stopped pounding the hammer with beads of sweats pouring out from my skin with my hands slightly swollen.

"Forging a rare metal is really a different experience…"

I then looked at Meng Tian.

"Hey Uncle."

My words caused Meng Tian to snap out from his dazedness.

"Very good! No, your forging ability is so good to the point of even driving me crazy and dying in envy!"

He then examined the metal component I forged with his face becoming brighter with each passing seconds.

"No significant impurities, maximum density, perfect shape."

It was a perfect medium-sized component that has been Hundred Refined.

"Can I now join your workshop to earn my money?"

"Of course! Of course!"

Meng Tian knew he couldn't let go of such a genius. He would offer various benefits just to keep him.

"Right, what's your name again?"

"Nai An."

"Okay Nai An. I'm Meng Tian." He introduced himself.

"I already know from the sign outside your workshop."

Meng Tian sighed wryly before recalling what happened earlier.

"I noticed this when you were forging, why didn't you use your Soul Power?"

I widened my eyes.

"You need to use that when forging?"

"At early levels, it's not necessary but it will help a lot… And to reach higher levels, soul power is important."

"I awakened just a few days ago, so I still lack some knowledge."

"...!"

Meng Tian opened his mouth agape with his eyes shaking.

"When did you start forging..?"

"My master is Hu Yu."

"Crazy…"

Meng Tian realized I was forging purely with pure physical strength and mental fortitude.

With the lack of Soul Power, it must have been tough and painful to forge simply with the help of the body.

The existence of Soul Power helps to increase strength and stamina, as well as shield and increase the recovery of your body from extreme stress.

"Yet this kid went beyond common sense of forging. He actually reached 2nd Rank Blacksmith, having endured the painful road purely with his body and mind."

"Such a great mentality is simply cheating with such great talent…"

"If he used Soul Power, it might even be possible for him to reach Thousand Refinements…"

Meng Tian was extremely excited from those thoughts.
