13: Food and supplies

Sage glanced at the time above his head while he thought of which bags to chose.

(*6 mins: 20 sec*)

"I bet that this isn't the only mission the system has set for me. It's better if I end this quickly."

Sage carefully examined the bags once again and spotted another clue.

"There is movement in three bags. These must be the poisonous snakes, as I expected they were the majority that occupied the bags. Now all that's left is to choose from the remaining four."

Sage looked at the four remaining bags. Two bags had a fisherman's knot and the other two had a square knot. It was up to him to decide on which bag the food was kept in, he took a closer look and found the third clue.

"I feel like the bag with the square knot is where the food is being kept, however, I find the bag with the fisherman's knot to be suspicious."

Sage had a gut feeling that the bags with the fisherman's knot were the ones that contained food, he went with his gut and decided to choose the bags with the fisherman's knot.

[*congradulations you have cleared the first trial*]

[*Time left> 5 mins *]

"I knew that the system wasn't that kind."

The building became hot rapidly, but it's temperature dropped as swiftly.

[*ping*]

[*Second trail: To be able to walk on thin ice in other to achieve your goal, this is a skill necessary for survival. You on this ice, in other to get what you desire.*]

A pathway of ice established itself beneath Sage's feet and a box filled with supplies appeared at the end of the path.

"Sigh...you've done it now, system"

Sage glanced underneath his feet, he saw a new form of aquatic life. His eyes were brimming with curiosity. A green screen appeared presenting the creature's status.

[*ping*]

[*Species: Plank shark *]

[*Level: 2*]

The plank shark had purple skin and four fins, its eyes were like pearls. And of course, its jaws were wide enough to swallow a human.

"Haha, what an interesting trial, as expected from the system."

Sage broke into a cold sweat, he glared at the ice and then to the box of supplies. Every step he took was like walking on a tight rope across a ravine. He had great balance and momentum, but things weren't going to be that simple.

(*bang*)

(*bang*)

(*crack*)

The plank shark launched an attack on the ice beneath Sage's feet with the attempt to make him drown. So he had to run.

(*Crack*)

(*boom*)

He ran towards the box as quickly as he could, but suddenly ahead of him were spikes of ice that manifested from the ice on the ground.

"Ahh you've got to be kidding me"

Sage moved towards the left and the right, trying to dodge the needle-like spikes made of ice. After a few tries, he got used to the spikes but time was running out.

[*5 seconds left, the countdown will now begin*]

Sage was seconds away from the box, but the plank shark grabbed his left leg. His leg was defenseless within the plank shark's jaw and it was shredded apart.

(*rip!!!!*)

"ahhhhhh!!!!"

[*2*]

Sage screamed at the top of his lungs from the pain he felt when his leg was ripped off by the plank shark. He quickly summoned his long sword from his inventory and using all his might he pierced a hole into the shark's forehead, which contained a core crystal.

(*slash*)

He was just in time to touch the box of supplies.

[*1*]

[*ping*]

[*Mission completed*]

[*You have gained Food and supplies*]

[*You have gained 2 Exp*]

[*You gained a rank 1 core crystal*]

[*Explanation > Rank 1 is the lowest rank of core crystal, the highest is rank 5. The higher the rank the stronger the mana.*]

"Oh, so that's why there was a number on the last crystal I observed, I believe the rank was 3 ?"

[*Regeneration activated*]

[* You have obtained the skill breath> you are now able to breathe underwater.*]

"Not bad, I can breathe underwater now. well Logia let's get out of here"

Sage put the food and supplies into his inventory. An exit opened in front of Sage and he walked out.

"Sigh.. finally free!"

"Sage what should we do now"

Sage thought deeply about what to do next, he really wanted to go to his mother right away but he had to find a place to settle.

"I think we should find a place to stay for the time being besides when I go get mom I'll need a place for her to stay."

"Then, how about the building we just saw? it's still intact plus it's right next to the supermarket."

"I see, you're right I should go there for now"

And so Sage headed walked the apartment. he arrived in no more than two minutes. He went up using the stairs, to the highest part of the building, on his way up he explored the building.

(*step*)

(*step*)

He arrived at the top floor.

(*gasp*)

(*gasp*)

"Ahh! I really should work out more. What do you think Logia?"

"Well that is true, although your body did rebuild itself, you are not yet used to it, and you still look do skinny under those clothes, well I guess it's just your stature, but in all seriousness, you must work out to improve your control."

"Thanks for the advice Logia."

"Oh this is different from your usual self, normally you would proudly say you could do it."

Sage was indeed that type of person, but he too could see the side effects of not knowing how to control his own body. Like when he got struck by Skie's claws because he wasn't able to dodge fast enough. or when he was bitting by the plank shark because he was too careless.

"Well, not this time, I am going to listen to you properly form now on. I'll be in your care!"

"Likewise!"
