At this point, Xiao Feng's eyebrows furrowed.

"What is she doing?" Xiao Feng wondered.

The little girl didn't immediately eat the goat meat; instead, she picked it up and walked towards a distant place.

Observing where she was headed, Xiao Feng saw that the girl had gone to an elementary school about a block away.

"Why is she going there?" Xiao Feng was puzzled.

As night fell, Xiao Feng turned his attention inward.

Considering today's circumstances, the people in the shelter seemed to be quite wealthy. So, he didn't have to worry about a lack of customers. In this vast Yu Lin City, the available resources should be enough to meet the demands of the post-apocalyptic world for at least ten years. Xiao Feng running a restaurant here was a secure endeavor.

The only issue was the food supplies. In the restaurant , Xiao Feng was invincible. But once he left the restaurant, he would be helpless. With only Xiao Feng as the restaurant staff, the food supply became a problem.

Thinking about the current dilemma, Xiao Feng suddenly sat up.

"Why am I so foolish?" Xiao Feng couldn't help but smile wryly. "Am I just wasting time here all alone?"

Humans are social creatures, and Xiao Feng, being all alone, had seemingly isolated himself from the community, thus neglecting the benefits of being part of a group. Xiao Feng realized he didn't have to go out and hunt for ingredients personally. He could establish an economic bridge with the other explorers from nearby shelters. This way, he could buy ingredients from those who dared to hunt, and then process them into food.

With the presence of newcomers, like the powerful Zhang Lei, they could help ensure that the ingredients wouldn't go to waste by freezing them, preventing spoilage.

Xiao Feng calculated that a bloodfang wild boar could earn him about 10,000 energy units. If he could buy one for a few thousand, he could make a good profit, even if it meant taking on additional costs. This would save him from the labor and risk of hunting.

With this in mind, Xiao Feng immediately planned to discuss this opportunity with other survivors from different shelters that he might encounter the next day.

With this exciting idea in mind, Xiao Feng drifted into sleep.

At the same time, inside Shelter No. 9's command center, Bai Meng sat there with a gloomy expression.

Meanwhile, across from Bai Meng, an older man with a full head of white hair was engaged in a heated discussion with a middle-aged man sporting a scruffy beard.

"You're saying there was no Mutant Serum inside the safe? That's impossible!"

This white-haired man was a former researcher from the Biological Research Institute, and the Mutant Serum was his creation.

Bai Meng: "I've already told you, there really was no Mutant Serum inside the safe. Several dozen people who went with me can attest to it. When we rushed to the safe, it was already open!"

Bai Meng defended himself with a stern expression.

"Could it be that the Zhang brothers took it?"

The white-haired man questioned with suspicion.

"Impossible!"

Bai Meng can say with certainty.

"Zhang Dian was killed by me on the spot, and Zhang Lei was severely injured by a spider zombie and thrown out of the window. They wouldn't have had time to open the safe!"

"Okay. Lets not continue to talk about the serum. What happened to my son? Where is he? Why did he not return!" Another middle-aged man with a black beard and mustache glared at Bai Meng.

"Bai Meng, don't think that you're the commander of the shelter. This place doesn't belong to you alone!"

"Your son?" Bai Meng sneered.

"The boss of the Great Potential Restaurant in Yu Lin City has an unimaginable strength. Your son didn't listen to my advice and decided to target Zhang Lei. He was instantly killed by the Great Potential Restaurant's boss. Who can we blame for that?"

"I don't care about that insignificant restaurant owner. Just a mere restaurant owner, a puny survivor. With so many of us, you think we're not a match for him? Who do you think you're fooling? Do you think we're all idiots?"

The middle-aged man with the black beard and mustache is the father of the person who was killed by Xiao Feng in the restaurant today. The middle-aged man is also the second-in-command of Shelter No. 9. He has long coveted Bai Meng's position as the commander.

Now, with his son dead in Yu Lin City, he strongly suspects that Bai Meng is responsible for it.

"If you don't believe me, you can ask the people who went with us today," Bai Meng said, standing up and slamming the table.

"Among the people I brought today, there should be some of your people. If you don't believe me, you can ask them!"

Upon hearing this, the man with the black beard and mustache looked dark and said to Bai Meng, "I will investigate this matter thoroughly. If it turns out to be false, you'll step down from your position as commander!"

With that, the man turned and walked out.

But as he reached the door, he suddenly stopped.

"I'm going to the ruins of Yu Lin City tomorrow. I'll show that so-called restaurant owner what happens when he messes with my son!"

After saying that, the man left in a huff.

Once the man had left, Bai Meng couldn't help but smile.

"Why are you laughing?" The doctor asked in confusion.

"Dr. Jia, I told you, do you believe everything I said?"

Bai Meng looked at Dr. Jia and asked.

"With your character, you wouldn't lie," Dr. Jia replied.

"Since you believe me, I dare to make a bet with you. If he really goes to the ruins of Yu Lin City tomorrow and dares to provoke the owner of the Great Potential Restaurant, I believe he won't come back alive!"

"Is that person really that terrifying?" Dr. Jia asked in doubt.

"So terrifying!" Bai Meng said just those words.

"So who do you think took the mutant serum? Could it really not be the Zhang brothers?"

Dr. Jia shifted the topic back to the mutant serum.

"If that restaurant owner is truly as terrifying as I believe, could he have taken the mutant serum?"

"That possibility can't be ruled out. But when I saw the traces of the safe being broken today, it was clearly freshly damaged!"

Bai Meng said in puzzlement.

"Freshly damaged? Then that means the mutant serum must still be with the Zhang brothers!"

Dr. Jia said with certainty.

"My safe has a strong defense, and not even a second-tier evolver could have forcefully opened it!"

"Zhang Dian!"

With Dr. Jia's reminder, Bai Meng suddenly widened his eyes.

"Oh my, how could I forget that!?"

"What happened to Zhang Dian?"

Dr. Jia asked in confusion.

"When Zhang Dian fell, why didn't I search his body? What if the mutant serum was on him?"

Bai Meng smacked his thigh in regret.
