Doomsday Base Building

It was early in the afternoon. Dark as pitch-black, and the land was damped with silence. Only the cold breeze whispered amidst the calm and soundless skies. Though below it was a small settlement burning in crimson flames. Decimated beyond relief with rubbles everywhere. Cold corpses were strewn throughout the settlement, with some bodies ripped apart into bloodied pieces. Puddles of velvet blood formed, and chunks of flesh dangled along the concrete walls in gory ways. It was a horrifying sight, but this was the reality in the world of Terra.  Near the building where the former leader of the settlement resided was a young man leaning on the concrete wall. There were no emotions on his face as he held a revolver tightly under his fingers. His name was Duke Shepherd. Before the end, he was but a humble college student.  Duke was the only remaining survivor in the small settlement after it was overrun by an aberrant flood. He initially wanted to rest eternally using the revolver when he gazed upon what was left. But he couldn't find the strength to do so. Despite the unending tragedies and suffering... He wanted to live.  | Initializing... |  "Huh?"  | Connecting to the Bio-Apparatus... Bio-Apparatus connected! | | Activating Doomsday Base Building Protocol... Cerberus Personnel: Cerberus Air Force(CAF)

In the Director's Office, Duke gazed at a file with interest. The paper held the detailed plans for the new military branch, the Cerberus Air Force.

There were also the goals the Cerberus desired to accomplish for the CAF.

'The one that dominates the heavens controls the earth.'

This line of thinking held true in the Director's mind. As long as the Cerberus conquered the skies, those on the ground were the least of their worries.

But that was, of course, if they conquered the night skies.

Duke was in doubt that it would be easy. After all, as he had said before, the Imperium Military practically fell in months despite having superiority over the night skies.

There must be some flying mutated beasts, or perhaps, flying aberrants. The idea was enough to send chills down his spine.

Flying abominations that could infect humans didn't sit well with the Director. But he wasn't as weak as before, so maybe he wouldn't immediately die.

Besides, he also has the Anti-Virus Serum, a powerful antidote for any sickness. Even if he got bitten, that wouldn't be the end of his life.

Anyhow... Speaking of the Cerberus Air Force, the only aircraft they had before the acquisition was the Vulture Gunship.

Duke hadn't tested the capability of the Vulture, but with the amount of weapons it had. It could crush anyone and anything on the ground.

However, he wasn't trying to find or gain firepower for his first company in the CAF. Instead, Duke wanted the company to have the capabilities to synergize and support the CGF.

So, Duke wasn't planning to purchase a fleet of Vulture Gunships to decimate the landscape. And in addition, he had already checked the price of a single Vulture.

From it, he found how expensive they were.

Continuing the subject. For the Cerberus Air Force to carry their support to the CGF, he must turn his attention to the transportation section of the Air Force.

Duke looked lower on the file and saw the written list of names of the aircraft he bought from the Doomsday Mall during the acquisition.

These vehicles weren't cheap as the cheapest cost 300 Source Points to purchase. And it was with the effects of the 50% Discount.

So they were costly by the standards of the Director. But nonetheless, he didn't hesitate to buy some of them for the sake of investment.

"I can still remember how purchasing such vehicles took almost half of what I had left."

The hole in his wallet never disappeared and caused heartache to the poor Director. Though, there was nothing he could do about it. Source Points were obtained to be spent.

Anyhow, the first aircraft Duke bought was another Vulture Gunship. He remembered that gunships always had another one with them in movies. So he gave it a partner.

And he also couldn't deny the firepower of a Vulture.

Especially when it was handy against ground opponents, which were their enemies at the moment.

The second aircraft was the Sparrow Transport Helicopter, a medium-sized troop transport aircraft. It was an intriguing vehicle, and it also lacked offensive capabilities.

What made it intriguing was the simple fact that the aircraft was heavily modular. It can be anything as long as the Cerberus spends extra on it.

After all, it could be modified depending on any circumstances.

And most importantly, it was the cheapest aircraft in the Doomsday Mall.

➤| The Sparrow Transport Helicopter(Military): The Sparrow Transport Helicopter was a four-bladed, twin-engine, medium-lift military transport helicopter created solely for the Cerberus. Despite being a part of the Cerberus Military, the Sparrow lacks offensive capabilities. But it compensates for its lacking qualities with speed, agility, and troop capacity. The aircraft was also heavily protected as it lacked windows and relied entirely on 360-degree cameras for operation. It can resist small to medium ordinances with ease and has good modularity. It can be anything with enough effort. One can turn it into a gunship, a civilian helicopter, an interceptor, and many more. It has a top speed of 500 kilometers per hour with an operating range of 1,000 kilometers. It can carry or lift a cargo of 10 tons. It has an operational limit of 22 people, including the two pilots. (Cost: 300 Source Points.[50% Discount]) |

The Sparrow was an excellent starting aircraft for the current Cerberus, especially with its capabilities to transport infantry and light vehicles.

"I previously thought that since it was incredibly cheap for an aircraft, I should buy a large amount for the Cerberus Air Force."

Duke shook his head and wryly smiled, remembering the moment he was enthralled by its cheapness. Only to remember that it was, in fact, not cheap.

It was only cheap when compared with other aircraft.

*Sigh...*

The third aircraft was the Condor Heavy Transport Helicopter. And Duke only had one comment about the helicopter.

So... Thick!

The Condor was a transport helicopter that could easily carry heavy armored vehicles, and unlike the Sparrow, it had some offensive capabilities.

Since he had acquired some Jaguars, which were heavy, he thought that heavy transport helicopters might be needed to do the job.

And he wasn't wrong, especially after returning to the Jaguar's detailed description. Its weight wasn't to be underestimated, and a Sparrow couldn't lift it.

"20 Jaguars will be a hell for helicopters to transport to the battlefield, but I guess there are transport trucks and H20s I could use."

Duke remarked and continued reading through the file of the Cerberus Air Force.

The Condor Heavy Transport Helicopter was an expensive aircraft. Though it was the second-most cheapest helicopter in the Vehicle's Tab. Which was a large part of the reason why Duke bought it.

He couldn't afford the expensive ones, so he opted for useful transportation helicopters for the Cerberus Ground Force.

After a short while of thinking, Duke remembered the details of the Condor's description written on the digital windows.

It was mostly the same with the Sparrow Transport Helicopter, with the difference of having an offensive armament.

➤| The Condor Heavy Transport Helicopter(Military): The Condor was a heavy-lift transport helicopter operated by the Cerberus. It was a six-bladed rotor aircraft with two protruding side-wing propellers. The helicopter was armed with a Thanatos Missile Launcher. It was also heavily armored to directly deliver troops and armored vehicles in the middle of the battlefield. It can shrug off ordinances and has some degree of modularity. It has a top speed of 800 kilometers per hour, followed by an operating range of 1,250 kilometers. It also has a max load of 75 tons due to its powerful six-bladed rotor. The Candor has an operational limit of 46 people, which includes the two pilots. (Cost: 400 Source Points.[50% Discount]) |

It only cost 400 Source Points, which was somewhat surprising for a large aircraft. Though... It was understandable since its primary role was merely transport.

Nevertheless, these three were the only helicopter types that Duke purchased from the Doomsday Mall. The rest will remain on their shopping list for some time.

Duke chuckled for some time before turning to the last written list in the file. It was the number of helicopters in the Cerberus Air Force.

Sparrow Transport Helicopters numbered five, while the Condor Heavy Transport Helicopters totaled two. And finally, the Vulture Gunships counted up to two, also.

It was bare bones, but it was something.

He also bought some Aviation Pilot Units and Mechanics to man and maintain the helicopters. This purchase resulted in the formation of 9 APS(Aviation Personnel Squad), increasing the personnel population to 801 units.

"I guess that's all it."

Duke was about to place the file back on the table, but he noticed a scheduled test flight that needed his approval. Once again, the edges of his lips rose as he approved the arranged test flight with his good-ol-signature.

He was also curious how the helicopters would fare in the Dark Cataclysmic Era, and most of all, he wanted to ride them and explore the surroundings.

"I can't wait..."
