Doomsday Ascension

The world is darker than our shadows. That is what everyone assumes until they experience it themselves. This experience makes you doubt your sanity. Some years ago, the discovery of energy crystals was made. They were said to be stones carrying immense energies the world had never seen before. The crystals were later on improved and utilized to improve work both industrially and domestically. They were used to power hospitals where children were born. Children born under this light began to evolve with extraordinary powers. Throughout the years most generations without the powers perished and the planet was now run by the hierarchy of strength in power. The appearance of these crystals got the attention of other creatures around the world and the safety of the world was no longer assured. Those who weren't born in hospitals powered by these stones were left powerless to be feasted upon by society. The corrupt system must be put in check but who knew it was far worse than that? Abel was one of them. He was an orphan left to fend for himself in this world ruled by those with iron hands. Abel could have stayed at the bottom of the food chain forever but he couldn't take it any more the embarrassment had to stop for good. ------- "The world is a tragedy for one and a blessing to the other, that's why I have to get stronger and protect those who can't stand on their own", Abel said to himself as he stared at the rectangular screen in front of his eyes. Ready for the results

A teacher walked into the class shortly after and Abel knew today was going to be a long one. "Phew, that was a close call", he mumbled under his breath while moving to his seat. Acting tough was one thing and and facing the problem at hand was another.

With little speed and agility he had at the moment fighting with a speed magicka user was a silly idea. Thank his lucky stars that the teacher had stepped into the class. It was the only way he could get out of this without being called a coward. Suffering at the hands of these brats for ten years had taught him many lessons and one of them was to never act weak in front bullys. They gain the feeling of superiority when one decides to back away from them or act weak.

Abel wasn't ready to relive the painful moments of his life again by acting weak. At least not to his classmates who were good at bullying him emotionally. Even though a teacher was in class, the guy kept displaying threatening actions. A throat slice and a strangling action was what he showed to Abel. Concentration was now lost gone because of these threats.

The teacher was busy with his lesson and didn't spare time to check what going on between the two boys. Abel swallowed hard each time the whole threat got repeated. He had already started to regret for picking a fight with an impatient person. Their battle was going to be a one-sided one and he could sense his defeat from afar. No one had to tell him this. The attention he had gotten was one he would love to have never gotten.

Calculating the time it took for the guy to reach his face was all that his mind was now concentrated on. This behemoth of a task was something he wanted to accomplish but fighting a stat related magicka could be tiring. The magicka which was related to speed in particular had also intensified the difficulty of the battle.

"What to expect from a speedster? I haven't fought one before. I also lack battle experience. This battle isn't going to be about how hard you can punch but I will have to make use of some hand to hand combat skills. Even if I get beaten to a pulp, I will make sure that I don't lose.", he assured himself.

The duration of the first lesson had crept away smoothly to the shock of the class since the teacher had decided not to spare a look at those who were disturbing in the class. His demeanour remained unchanged even when he spotted Abel writing something on a small sheet of paper.

Abel was currently planning his way of attaining a victory against Ben, the guy he had gotten into the heated arguement with.

His new found plan was still in progress since most of the ideas he had in his head if used would end badly for him.

*Rings*

The school siren had rang once again and the students were glad that the results of the election were ready. They started conversing among themselves about their views of how the results were going to be like. At this point the teacher could no longer control his class anymore.

"Break time! Go grab some snacks while preparing for the next lesson", the mechanical voice of Brooke sounded throughout the entire building of the school.

The looks of happiness these students had on their faces had distorted in an instant. When the announcement was over, chaos had ensued in the classroom. Most of the students were displaying their anguish openly by screaming and yelling. Some even yelled obscenities at Brooke for delivering such a heartbreaking announcement. Even the boys who had long for her voice was now part of those screaming obscenities. Their hopes of hearing how the election went had ended up in flames.

People started moving out of the classrooms when the tension had subsided. They had to eat afterall and they weren't going to be fed by being at one place. They had to make it to the the cafeteria on time in order to be served much faster and better. This had created a rush hour in an instance.

As usual Abel had decided to stay in class for that whole day due to his fight with Riley but he had gotten a new reason to leave the class. He didn't want to catch a glimpse of any pre-battle formalities. Sustaining peace at this moment was a valuable option and he had to comply with it.

Jazzlyn stared at the door from where she was seated and saw Abel carefully bolting out of the room. She couldn't hide her laughter and was seen bursting into an uncontrollable one. "Why is he running away? Is he afraid of Ben?", she asked herself while laughing away.

The sounds of hustle and bustle were all over the cafeteria when Abel had arrived there. This time it was full of people who weren't frequent visitors of the place. Some were yapping and yelling about the results of the election while others were trying to get themselves some balanced diet. It may seem that the chef of the school would be shocked by the number of people present but he already knew what was going to happen. His understanding of how student get hungry easily when they are bored was what had helped him figure this out.

True by his assumptions the number of students in the cafeteria was uncontrollably overwhelming. While some of them were curious about what the results were going to be in their classrooms others were filling their bellies for the programme ahead.

Abel was also struck dumbfounded by the number of people present in the cafeteria. "How come there are many evolved in this neutral territory? Won't this somewhat disrupt the peace of the place?". All these thoughts were running wild in his head that he couldn't help but feel anxiety kicking in.

He moved closer to the counter where a dark skinned middle aged woman stood with her ladle in hand. "Please, I want the monday special", Abel demanded politely while grabbing a tray which was present on the other side of the counter. "One Monday special coming up for my big boy ", she said joyfully while tilting her head to look at the boy. When her eyes had captured the image of the boy, her whole demeanour had distorted. It was now fearful and full of rage and disgust. "I take my words back. I didn't know it was the school's trash. What is trash like you doing out of the can? Are you not suppose to be inside a trash can where you belong?", she said jokingly while staring into his eyes.

Abel had his smile disturbed by what the woman had said. If it was the old him, he would have ran away in tears but now he was a new being and a new creation. These bad mouths weren't going to make him worry. It was because of him that they had something to joke about when they were bored. This was just another bored person trying to make a joke out of him.

"What did you say?", he asked with a dark tone which almost made the woman jump out of her skin. The question came out as cool and soothing as it could be but the tone which was used gave her the creeps. "Well I said...". "What did you say?", he questioned before she could finish her answer. By this time sweat was gliding down her face since the boy's tone was a bit diabolical than usual."Stop playing those silly tricks on me, moron", she said out hesitantly with a shaky voice. A creepy smile appeared on Abel's face when he had sensed fear in her words.

"Just give me my food so I can head out ", he pleaded politely this time. He had altered his tone immediately since he had completed his work. "Y-yes", she said and handed him the meal he had bargained for. On his way to a seluded table at the back of the cafeteria, the school siren sounded again and Brooke was ready with a ton of announcements to deliver.

Abel was angry at the moment since the woman had delayed him and now he had to stuff everything inside his mouth.
