First Job

After arriving at the venue, Veronica and Nicole followed their manager to the waiting room to greet their competitors.

The room was filled with girls from 7-10 years old.

There were all kinds of faces and Nicole could even recognize some future top artist in the group. Normally, in the industry age does not equate to seniority rather it was popularity so, no matter which way you looked at it the girls were at the bottom of the food chain but, you wouldn't guess that from Veronica's face.

Though she was not stupid enough to make everyone her enemy, she looked down on most of the competitors and that was apparent on her face as they greet the people there.

Veronica's attitude left a lot of the seniors dissatisfied but, because of their mother's reputation, the seniors could only tolerate her attitude. Still, there were also a bunch of bootlickers trying to climb up a tall tree. These people flattered us to no end only making Veronica's head swell to even greater heights.

Nicole, on the other hand, was much more level-headed. For those who deserved respect she gave it and for those who were trouble, she kept her distance. Some of the bootlicking seniors didn't like her distant attitude, taking it as she didn't want to associate with them because she was too full of herself but, Nicole didn't mind their cold responses. Since their emotions were plainly visible on their faces, she could easily decipher their thoughts reaffirming her decision to distance herself from that group.

They were so petty over such a little thing showing how narrow-minded they were. They were the kind that would elevate you when you are at the top and step on you when hit the bottom.

Nicole didn't need these kinds of friends, thanks to Veronica her previous life was full of such 'friends', and they had immediately abandoned her when she hit rock-bottom.

After many of such experiences, she could smell these frauds a mile away and she didn't want to have anything to do with them. However, if she could let Veronica surround herself with such people, now that would be poetic justice

All those who she was warm to were in a certain sphere will those who she ignored belonged to another. The seniors she was warm towards felt appreciation once they realized this as well as apprehension towards this newcomer who didn't seem as simple as she appeared.

After Veronica and Nicole were done greeting they went to wardrobe to get ready. As they walked their manager briefed them about the script.

"This is your first commercial so I didn't pick anything too hard. The commercial is for Swan Lake's new jewelry brand. The commercial needs two girls and the theme is 'Black & White'. To make the most out of our chances one of you will audition for the white swan whilst the other will audition for the black swan. There is no script so no one knows what will happen at the audition so you have to be prepared for anything. Any questions? "

"Big Sister Sofia, is it okay if I audition for the white swan?" Veronica sweetly remarked trying to charm their stone-faced manager. Sadly that was something she couldn't even do as an adult much less a child so she was destined to be disappointed.

Ms. Sofia was a professional that was why their mother chose her so she wouldn't favor one of the girls over the other.

"Well, if your sister is fine with it then, it's alright" Ms. Sofia replied plainly with a hint of indifference.

"Sis~ can I be the white swan, please! I'll give you my desert tonight in exchange."

"Sure, I don't mind" Nicole replied with a smile while sneering inwardly. The lead role of a thousand dollar commercial in exchange for a plate of deserts she could get any time, what a 'fair' deal. Normally, she wouldn't take such an unfair deal and let her sister profit off her like that but this time was different.

Nicole understood her motive, for her first audition she wanted to be the heroine and she assumed that would be the white swan. Unfortunately for her, the director that wrote this commercial was special and so are all his scripts.

Indeed the white swan is the heroine but the one who would profit the most from this audition is not the heroine white swan but the ignored black swan instead.

Last time they auditioned, she and Veronica both tried out for the white swan position but, her sister had already made a deal with the investors thus, the role ultimately fell to her

Veronica was ecstatic until the release of the actual commercial.

She was totally overshadowed by her partner and barely received much fame from the commercial even Nicole who went for a slightly worse commercial was doing better in the fame ranking than her.

Veronica was extremely annoyed.

Later, she tried to get her brother to do something to the director but when brother found out the directors identity, he was forced to take a step back. Up to now, Nicole doesn't know who the director was.

On the other hand, she remembered vividly that the girl who played the black swan gained a lot of benefits from it.

Sadly, even with all those opportunities, the girl couldn't take advantage of them due to Veronica using their brother's influence once again to destroy her career causing her to slowly fade into obscurity marking the end of her career before it started.

This time Nicole was determined to climb to fame and this would be her starting point. Still, if she got the chance she would like to help the girl who won the previous audition.

Honestly, she was a talent and after taking her opportunity she would like to give her something in return.
