Chapter 2

It was a sleepless night for Ava. Memories of her ex-boyfriend's betrayal haunted her, leaving her hesitant to trust anyone with her heart again. As the clock ticked, she finally drifted into a restless slumber.

In her dream, she found herself strolling through a picturesque park, the sun setting on the horizon. A charming and imaginary guy approached her with a warm smile, asking her out on a date. Her heart fluttered, and for a moment, the pain of her past seemed to melt away.

As they walked hand-in-hand, her dream-self could feel the allure of romance building, but a nagging doubt gnawed at her mind. "I don't know how to love anymore," she confessed to him, her voice barely above a whisper.

The imaginary guy looked into her eyes with understanding and compassion. "It's okay, Ava. Love takes time, and it's okay to be cautious," he reassured her gently.

Just as the dream seemed to dissolve into fragments, Ava was jolted awake by her phone's ringtone. It was a call from Dr. Seth, her superior doctor from the hospital.

"Oh god this fucker", Ava mentally cursed.

"Dr. Turner , you gotta come here, Asap! There's an emergency, " he hung up.

"Okayy, coming!!!" Ava rushed.

Disconnecting the phone , Ava wore her oversized hoodie and trackpants . She took her Id and other important stuffs in her bag and head to the hospital.

Ava's heart pounded as she rushed through the hospital's corridors, still trying to shake off the remnants of her emotional dream. As she reached the ward, she found her senior doctor, Dr. Seth, seemingly in a hurry.

"Ava, I have an emergency, and I need to leave the city for a few weeks," Dr. Seth says, his voice tense. "I hope I can trust you to handle things in my absence."

Ava is taken aback. "But Dr. Seth, I'm still an intern. I haven't completed my training, and I'm not the head of the hospital," she protests.

He nods solemnly. "I know, Ava, but I wouldn't ask if it weren't necessary. These three patients need careful monitoring, and I know you're up to the task. Work harder."

"Sure,doc," Ava scoffs as if she was not doing that already.

Dr. Seth proclaims before leaving everything up to Ava's hand," I think it will be nice if you introduce yourself to them and reassure them that you are the one who will be looking after them in my absence."

Together, they walk to the room where the three patients are recovering. Ava introduces herself to each patient. She takes the time to listen to their concerns and answers any questions they had about their treatment.

Dr. Seth introduces me to Ben. He has his right arm plastered and damnn a fracture in his leg.

"Hello doc," he says with pain in his eyes.

I smile at him warmly.

"He is Alex. His patella could almost dislocate because of the accident. Though he is lucky enough not to get harmed much," Dr. Seth explains.

"Hi, I am Alex. Alex Smith. But you can call me yours." He winks.

Ava is too stunned to hear that. How could he even flirt at this moment? He is supposed to whimper in pain as per his condition. Rather than that, he is just flirting and smiling like an idiot. Ava ignores his little action that made her laugh a little in her mind.

Lastly Dr. Seth introduces her to the last patient who literally has the worst and deadliest condition . As much as a naked eye can see, half of his body is broken.

"He is Ethan Cooper. I can't even stop describing how many fractures and harm he has. You can just read his file." I casually nod ogling awfully at his situation.

"Dr. Ava will be monitoring you guys from now on. Any kind of problem you face, just feel free to ask for her help. Excuse me while I leave you guys up to her hands." Dr. Seth leaves.

"Hi guys. As I have already introduced myself . I am still an intern but I promise you I will do my best for your speedy recovery." Ava says with sincerity.

"Thanks, doc. You seem cool af," Ben exclaims.

Smiling at his warm words, Ava says,"You can call me Ava."

"Ava, are you from here? if you don't mind but you don't seem to look like the local." Alex asks out of curiosity.

Ava hesitantly replies ," Yes I am an outsider. I am not from the U.S."

Alex almost jumps out of his bed, "Fuck I was wondering from the second you came to this room. You know I am kinda into outsiders. We would look good together." He winks again.

Ava chokes on his words and just let it pass.

"Already started flirting? At first try to stand up properly or you will look good with the bed for the rest of your life," Ethan mocks. Ben laughs histerically at Ethan's words as Alex scoffs.

" Ethan Cooper by the way. "

Ava smiles at him and asks the about the accident.

"How did you guys end up on the accident?"
