Chapter 12
James Harvey ~
"You shouldn't be saying this nonsensical words to me! If you have any issue with the message that I just delivered, I advise you go and rain them down on Cassius himself and not I." I said with a grunt as I leapt to the healing pool where we got our health from through Cassius.
Amongst all the creatures who has step foot into the lycan lands, I was the only one privilege to call who they know as 'the almighty' by his actual name 'Cassius'. I was given some respect and fear as the supreme leader over all the leagues of lycans under the rule of Cassius.
Rather than respond verbally to what I just said, Aaron just fixed a firm glance at me and growled heavily. He might be an alpha but right here and right now, I was the alpha of alphas. The only one above me was Cassius.
"Like you were to do any better." he added making me stop in my tracks.
"Control that tongue of yours if you don't want to lose it, pal. Don't forget who the boss around here is." I said using my thumb to point myself indicating that I was his superior.
"Have it your way James. What I want to make clear is that there is no way that any member of my pack is going further with this madness." Aaron said as he transformed.
"Ha! Ha! Ha!" I burst out in a wild laugh before transforming, myself.
"You and I both know that there is no walking away out of this or do I need to remind you of the consequences of going against Lord Cassius?" I said removing my hand from my side, standing up straight and grinding my teeth.
That shut the old alpha up because there were no more words from him. With a loud grunt, he returned back.
"Like I said before, tomorrow the black moon pack would be going on a mission so get yourselves ready. By the dawn of the new day, all details about it would be made for you." "Right now, get prepared." I said walking to the enchanted pool and took a dive in.
I stayed in for about five seconds and dashed out feeling all my pains ease away. I walked out of the healing chamber and went up to my personal room to prepare myself of the looming battle the following day.
Since I betrayed the late lycan king and his queen and joined Cassius' quest for power, it has been battle after battle, ambush after ambush, and bloodshed after bloodshed.
At most times, it gets tiring and exhausting, fighting for someone who never gets his fill. What Cassius wanted was beyond insane.
POWER.
Unlimited and Sovereign.
Cassius was willing to get it off the blood of other creatures. His goal to become the supreme ruler of it all blinded him. I know deep down that what he intends for is not right, but knowing the consequences of turning against him gave me more of a reason to stand by him and what he proffers.
I went into my chambers and took off my clothing. I took a look at myself and realized all my wounds to have been healed.
I smiled.
Perks of being loyal, I guess.
I went in for a cool bath after which a lovely supper. I was second in command to Cassius and I was treated as such. After a round or two of training, I turned in for the night.

"Your Majesty!" came a guard as he entered into the room with his head bowed down.
"Yes? What is it?" ushered Frederick to the guard implying that he should say what had brought the guard into a conversation with him.
"The league of Phoenixes led by Ryan McFlame are here. They seek refuge your majesty, against the passing danger that sweeps all over the supernatural world." "Ryan claims to have travelled very far to get here." the guard said raising his eyes to meet those of Frederick and Liam and afterwards, returned to this submissive stature. "Shall I let them in?" he asked.
"That's odd! Weren't Ryan and his brothers capable of maintaining their territory in the far off deserts? Or has the so called Lord Cassius brought his minions over there too?" Liam asked giving Frederick a rough gaze.
A long time ago, more of thirty-two centuries ago as the story goes, the supernatural world was filled with the wonderful creatures called 'Phoenixes'. Their leader, Gabriel McFlame ruled over them all but there was a catch. Like the present situation that went on between Queen Alessia and the late lycan king, there were conspirators in their midst.
Traitors who despised Gabriel and sought to end his existence. Seeing as phoenixes are naturally un-killable, they sought every way possible to counter those laws of nature and over throw him as the Emperor.
That was when the curse of 'The Midnight Sun' came into being through the aid of a very powerful sorceress of evil.
A curse made by an ancestral and celestial sorceress capable of disintegrating a thousand pheonixes in the split of a second. The curse was made but not without a vial consequence. All phoenixes in the world including those who rebelled against the king's rule burnt to ashes and died when the rays of the midnight sun fell to the earth.
Ryan is the only son of Gabriel McFlame.
Till this day, it remains a mystery to all how Ryan and the five others didn't go down with the rest. So practically, Ryan and his league are the last phoenixes in this world. They lived in the hot and dusty deserts.
"Let them in! Whatever intentions that they may have, we need to find out truly why they're here. Ryan hasn't set wings on this land for about two hundred years. What could be so urgent that he has the purpose of coming not on a friendly note but a request of refuge when he is a total immortal? I wonder." "Besides, the night is far spent and my friend wouldn't do so well in the cold and dreary woods." Frederick added with a nod.
"As you wish, your majesty!" the guard said and he took his leave.
Frederick and Ryan were good friends having met about seven centuries after the endgame of his people. While Frederick and the other vampyres inhabited the forests, Ryan and his brothers were forced to live in the deserts owing to their nature.
After about a few minutes proceeding the guard's exit, Frederick, Alessia, Morgana and Liam went down to the room right beside the front gate to receive their august visitors.
