Chapter 40: The battle (2)

Sweat dripped down from his forehead as he saw the spear slowly charging towards him.

He tried to dodge it by lowering his head but he knew that he wouldn't be able to make it. Just as Lucius was about to get hit, his summon appeared in front of him.

"His summons are very annoying" The bandit who was about to hit him exclaimed.

The bandit had hit Lucius' summon as his summon acted as a shield, blocking the attack.

A notification flashed in Lucius's retina when the summon took a hit.

(Your summon has suffered serious damage. His health has dropped by 70 percent)

(The wound is automatically healing due to the spell summoner's enchantment.)

Lucius ignored the notification flashing in his retina. He focused on the enemy that was in front of him. He realized that the spear of the bandit was stuck.

"It will take at least a few seconds for him to take out his spear; during this time he will be completely unarmed. I must not miss this opportunity to attack him." Lucius thought to himself as he began to channel mana to his sword.

He launched a strike at the bandit who was taking the spear out from the chest of his summons.

As he channeled mana into his sword, he began to grow brightly. Very soon, weak flames were produced around his sword.

(You have used the skill attached to the sword, Flame Creation)

(Mana has decreased by 10

Current available mana: 203)

Lucius ignored it and willed for the flame to engulf his sword from top to bottom. The flame seemed to obey his command as it soon engulfed the sword from top to bottom.

This was probably due to the influence of the film control, a skill that's attached to the sword.

"I should be able to successfully hit him," Lucius thought to himself.

He kept charging his sword toward the bandit, the bandit had successfully retreated the spear that had struck his summons, and the bandit quickly started to put a defensive stance but it was far too late since Lucius's sword was just a few cm away from striking the heart of the bandit.

"You are going to die for sure" Lucius exclaimed, his voice carrying killing intent.

The bandit just gritted his teeth and tried his best to block the attack by using his spears.

Just as Lucius' sword was about to strike the heart of the bandit in front of him, Lucius felt a piercing pin on his back. At the same time, a notification flashed in his retina.

(Your health has decreased by 50

Current HP:203)

(You will suffer from bleeding for the next 1 minute)

(Every 10 seconds, health will decrease by 5)

When Lucius saw the notification flashing in his retina, he cursed as he tried his best to ignore the pain and notification.

"Damn it" Lucius muttered under his breath.

This pain caused the trajectory of Lucius's attack to change. Regardless, Lucius' sword passed through the shoulder of the bandit.

The weak flames that had engulfed the sword from top to bottom began to burn the flesh of the target from the inside and out. The bandit let out a scream of pain.

A notification flashed in his retina.

(You have dealt 40 damage to the target)

(Weak flames are burning his body)

(He will suffer from burnt status for the next 50 seconds. Every 5 seconds, he will lose 2 HP)

(Due to the influence of the skill Lifesteal, 50% of the damage dealt has been converted to your HP.

Current HP: 223)

Lucius ignored the notification, he signaled the summon who was stabbed to take care of the bandit in front of him.

The summon obeyed his commands and launched a devastating strike to the already wounded bandits. The summon was also badly wounded but his wounds were healing.

In fact the summon had recovered 20 percent of his Heath within the span of a minute.

A few seconds later a notification flashed in his retina.

(Your bleeding has stopped since it's been a minute)

(Within the span of a minute, your health has decreased by 30 due to the suffering from bleeding.

Current HP: 193)

Lucius ignored the notification flashing in his retina.

"Let's see who threw this knife towards me" Lucius mumbled.

Then he quickly turned his attention to his back. He saw a knife was attached to his back, bleed was pouring down from the wounded area.

He looked for the person who had thrown the knife towards him. He saw a person covered in a black robe and his face was covered with a hoodie.

That person also had a magic wanrd on his right hand.

"That guy is a mage. He is probably the one who attacked me" Lucius identified the class of the enemy, the moment he saw the magic ward.

Another guy was standing beside the one who had a ward. This guy also had a ward on his hand.

"Two Mages huh? Let's take care of them" Lucius muttered under his breath.

He was about to charge towards them but he soon realized something very important.

"They are more than 25 meters away from me so if I charge towards them my summons will lose their buff which will surely make me lose the fight since I will run out of mana within a few minutes." Lucius thought to himself.

Lucius fell into deep thought as he pondered what action he should take next.

"Maybe, I can tell my summons to follow me. The Bandits will also likely follow them" Lucius thought to himself.

He took a look at each of his summons who were busy battling with each of the bandits. Currently, everyone's battle was in a stalemate, no one could defeat one another. Self-recovery was only the reason behind their survival up until now.

Lucius knew the moment the Summoner's enchantment ended, his summons would be destroyed within a minute or two.

Lucius quickly decided what to do.

Just as he was about to have our orders to his summons, the two mages began to chant a spell that caused Lucius to make his guard higher.

"I think that they are casting a spell," Lucius thought to himself.

A big magic circle had formed where he was standing just a few seconds later. The magic circle had a radius of 70 meters. Lucius' first reaction was to quickly leave the boundaries of the magic circle, he hurriedly gave commands to his summons.

"Follow me" Lucius shouted as he began to charge out of the barrier.

His summons abandoned everything and followed him without any hesitation.

However, it was far too late. Just a few seconds later, a barrier began to form around him. A powerful voice also resounded through the entire place.

"Sealing barrier!" The mage who was holding the blue ward shouted.

The barrier kept getting taller and taller until it became at least 50 meters tall, making it impossible for Lucius to escape.

"Oh shit" Lucius cursed

A second later, he halted his steps because he knew that it was too late to leave the magic circle now. A bright red barrier had formed around him, completely isolating him from the outside world.

Lucius looked behind him and saw the four bandits charging towards him.

"Fight with them" Lucius gave out orders to his summons.

The moment they heard his orders, the summons charged toward each of the bandits resuming their abandoned battle.

The bandit who was charging toward Lucius with killing intent visible in their eyes had no choice but to fight with the bandit while completely forgetting about him.

"These summons are very annoying. It blocks most of our attacks. Moreover, its healing ability is also very annoying" One of the bandits fighting them couldn't help but curse out loud.

The other bandits also nodded their heads when they heard that. Lucius completely ignored them, he was completely focused on the barrier that had trapped him inside.

His eyes were focused on the two mages that stood beyond the barrier and the barrier itself.

"I wonder what's their purpose in setting up this barrier," Lucius thought to himself.

A few seconds later, Lucius shook his head.

"I should try to destroy the barrier," Lucius muttered under his breath.

He began to check the condition of the barrier that stood in front of him, he touched the barrier. The moment he touched them with his bare hand, he felt a big shock throughout his body. He quickly moved his hand away from the barrier.

"So I can't even touch the barrier. I will try to slash the barrier in two" Lucius exclaimed, his voice carrying seriousness.

He began to channel mana into his sword, as he channeled mana into the sword. The aura surrounding his sword thickens very much.

Just as he was about to slash the barrier, he saw something that sent a shiver down his spine.
