Prologue 2

[Year 130 month 2 of the ethereal calendar]

With a circumference of 10 miles of which boasted a sparkly castle, 20 ft outer walls in medieval style, and a famous dungeon where many adventurers could be seen entering and exiting. The most populated city in the world candune named 'enudac' situated directly in the middle of the only continent the could be found.

Located deep in the core of 'enudac', lie a comfortable abode adorned with various welcoming pleasantries like orange colored shades and bed. These details made the second floor apartment look quite welcoming and exceptionally family friendly. On this day many lively noises could be heard coming from the apartment. A mother was giving birth.

The mother had brown hair that flowed down to her waist, a slim face, and a figure that looked as if it had been cared for her whole life, a perfect figure. Meanwhile the father also had brown hair, however his was short as was the median for a male of 'enudac', besides from that he was less in bragging form with a less formatted body in accordance to the norms, he was slightly below average at best.

"Congrats on your first born child!"

The midwife cheerfully exclaimed these words somehow not in a relieved tone after long hours of labor that seemed to never end. As a family friend of the 'heart' family, a couple of wholesome merchants, she always seemed to be happy no matter how the circumstance was playing out. She acted accordingly.

The mother greeted the frail light skinned newborn child "his name will be Rain, Rain Heart" said the mother in a tired but very comforting voice. The father was standing by, though he couldn't utter in even a single word, his visage said it all, a mixture of anticipation and freight.

Thoughts raced through his mind such as 'Am I going to be a good father? Will it like me? And how expensive is it..?'

The Heart merchant family consisted of a duo of educated commoners with dreams of striking it rich with merchantry, having children, then living out their lives peacefully while passing down the future hard-earned family charisma.

The father leaned into comfort the mother and Rain when suddenly he started crying. "Well, it was bound to happen eventually" the midwife helped teach the mother how to calm down children.

After calming down the father sighed and even laughed a bit before he warmly whispered "I love you" to remind his wife of his affection after he was basically absent when the child was born.

On the side of a street in 'enudac' a makeshift wooden booth with a cloth roof, selling various food-types was strategically placed where the flow of people would be at its highest as it was competing with many other similar shops. If you were a passerby you could spot three familiar faces Rain Heart, his mother, and his father.

"Buy food for the best prices!" Rains father in a seemingly professional way shouted all day while the mother boosted sales with her looks.

A man and woman approached the booth, "Dear, which fruit would you like?" "Aww how nice, can I get that one please ma'am."

With a nod the mother made a sale, it was simply the everyday life of the Heart family. Though they once had higher aspirations for their trade, now with a child of one month the mother and father made choice to settle down without even looking back.

The mother looked to her left and with her lips pointing up hugged Rain tightly "Your my everything."

News in the medieval setting of candune was very primitive and scarce, spreading news was more rigorous than scaling the tallest mountains of candune, with two suns the heat never lets up throughout the seasons. At the peak of summer the weather could become a blistering 120 degrees on average.

Even with connections the best method to spread news was to experience it yourself. The heart family was going about its business when the ground suddenly started shaking violently. Rain was quickly taken ahold of before he fell out of his wooden stool.

~BRRZZZ~

"Honey what is going on? I've never felt anything like this before." The mother questioned the situation but before the father could speak her question was answered in the form of a man shouting at the top of his lungs "EVERYONE RUN! IT'S THE CALAMITY THE CALAMITY IS HERE"

~BOOM~

Even though nobody knew what this 'calamity' was all hell broke loose when there was an explosion of fire only 4 miles away at the walls. In disarray civilians screamed and ran away from the horrifying sounds and soldiers ran down the streets bracing for action.

In a moment of panic multiple merchant stalls were knocked over including the heart families' stall. The streets soon became packed with everyone fleeing and an feeling of panic hit the Hearts.

All though surprised at the sudden uproar the father was smart and made good choices in time of need "I'll grab Rain and you stay close to me" The father grabbed Rain with all the grip strength he could muster and put his arm around the mother as to not lose her as they started to flee down the streets with the crowd.

In the "Primitive" world of candune war between the three existing kingdoms was less than a dime a dozen that occurred once ever few centuries at most. As such the soldiers lacked a very important quality -- experience, dungeons with otherworldly beasts did exist, yes but not to the worry of the army as adventurers kept them in check. Even if the adventures dared to stand in front of the army of 'calamity' the monsters that existed in the dungeons were weak enough to be taken care of a select few regular candunians.

Moreover monsters were weak and taken care of by a few candunians and never had chances to roam the world. This made it sure that the only job of the armies to protect the very stable cities.

At the same time as when the Heart family heard an explosion, near the blazing wooden gate that allowed entry to the east side of 'enudac' the prodians rode their monster like mounds in the sky and on the ground. Mounds with the appearances of devilish grey ash toned monsters were enough to decrease the soldiers' morale.

One soldier who just arrived to the horrifying scene witnessed magical balls of fire being thrown around and another soldier crying for help while being beaten by a prodian.

Prodians were born stronger than candunians, and without any previous connections to the ether realm the soldier just looked like a training dummy for the calamities, easily overpowered like a candunian to an ant. 'I'm done for. It's over, might as well make the best of my abilities' The soldier charged in with a battle cry.

~AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH~ ~SCHLING~

That was the end.

The formations of the candunian army fell as promptly as the soldiers lost their battles. The whole army was blown away mercilessly.

The father ran while cradling Rain and wrapping his arm around the mother. "If we can just make it to the south gate we can exit, I just know it" The father could only nod his head as he was in worse shape than the mother.

~BOOM~ ~BOOM~ ~BOOM~

Their gazed lost every last bit of hope, if there was ever any in the first place. All the gates burst into flame, surrounded and with no safe place to run in sight, the father and the mother both unconsciously knew that the only thing they could do was hide their child and hope for the best.

A loud voice rang from above "I am Proxidian, the ruler of prode and I have come to take this planet." That's all he said as he felt it was a waste of breath considering everyone was about to die anyways, it was just an intimidating tactic.

Disheartened, the hearts went back towards their apartment because they knew there was a good place to hide. After navigating through what could only be described as a nightmare the couple arrived just before their old home was scorched.

"I'll lift the bunker door and you put him in" the mother kissed Rain one last time while holding back tears.

The "bunker" was actually a special candunian type of safe made with a special blue material built directly under a desk, immune to fire, that was meant to fade into the background. Each tenant got their own safe on the bottom floor just big enough to fit baby Rain Heart.

From inside the safe the couple could be seen turning away while slamming the door shut.

After the abrupt end of all past civilization of candune, explorers, in numbers outnumbering the prodian army visited the newly connected world hoping to. Dark purple banners slim and tall with the well known logo the sharp and jagged fingers of the prodians hung around wherever one might look.

Banners with a finger on it didn't stop the outgoing Kane from going right into 'enudac'. Kane is a whitehaired, light skinned man in his early twenties with big brown eyes, clad in light amounts of silver armor, hoisting a sword sheathed on his waist.

"My party is going to leave me behind if i don't leave this desolate place soon" Kane walked around inspecting the ashes of fallen buildings trying to find anything that may be of value when he heard a noise coming from across the street.

"Is that... a crying baby?"

Sorry for being so wordy the real story starts from this point on
