Year 2020
"Ava!!! Are you going to hurry or should I just go by myself?" yelled Julia, my bestie, being her overdramatic self. "I'm almost done." I replied while combing my natural wavy brown hair. I was never a person to apply any sort of make-up on my face but of course, like Julia said, I quote 'We need to look hot!! It's a party for God's sake, Ava!!' So here I am, dressing to go to another obnoxious party with Julia and Kevin, who will be coming soon to pick us up, just to see people grinding and groping each other with red paper cups in their hands.
I sighed heavily as soon as a car honk was heard. "That's Kevin." Julia said while running to the front door. I followed her after taking our purses, that were lying on the bed. I got in the backseat of the car, and sighed again. Like I said, I was never a party person.
After sighing for the millionth time, we finally reached the club. Julia got off the car and ran towards the entrance of the club while I and Kevin walked and showed our ID cards to the guard who was standing at the the entrance. We entered and I wasn't surprised when I saw the club packed with hundreds of people drunk and dancing, or should I say grinding and groping one another on the dance floor. A pop song was played on full blast by the dj. "I'll just go to the washroom." said Kevin and with that he disappeared. I made my way to the bar and sat on a stool. The bartender said, " Would you like to order something?". "Yes, a martini please." I replied. I turned my body towards the dance floor and saw Julia grinding on some guy. So, Julia. I was served my martini and while I was sipping on it, a guy, probably in his mid twenties sat beside me. "Hi, I'm Derek." and pulled his hand for me to shake it. I shook his hand and introduced myself. "Can I buy a drink?" said he.
"I'm fine. Thank you." I replied with a small smile. He had blonde hair with blue greyish eyes. Overall, Derek was a good looking guy. "Let me buy you only one drink, please." Derek insisted but I refused him politely. I don't want to come out rude but this guy was really starting to irritate me. He let out a huff, took his drink and went away. I saw him going to group of men and they all started laughing. 'Stupid dare' I thought to myself. I didn't really wanted to drink anything heavy for I know that I would be the one driving Julia and Kevin back home, as I can already tell Julia is wasted and about Kevin, he is just Kevin.
My martini was finished long ago. I ordered myself a club soda and lime. As I was drinking my soda. Another man happened to sit on the stool beside me and ordered his drink. I didn't bother looking because I swear if it's that Derek guy and happens to play his stupid drink trick again, I won't hesitate to pull out my heel and hit him on the face. I turned my head and saw a man with brown curls, sipping on his club soda. He turned in my direction and smiled crookedly, showing off his dimples . To say he wasn't the most handsome man I've ever seen, would be an understatement because he WAS the most handsome man in the world I've ever laid my eyes on.
"I'm Ava. Nice to meet you." I said and pulled my arm out for him to shake it. He took my hand and shook it."I'm Edward", he replied with a wide smile. Oh my God!! He has so many dimples. I returned the same gesture. "Are you alone?" I feel so stupid after asking such a question. He shook his head and said,"No, I was actually dragged by my friends and I don't know where they are now." I just nodded at this. He had a thick British accent which was quite a turn on. His hair was brown in colour, textured with soft curls. It was pushed up from his forehead, seemed like he always ran his hand through his hair. He was wearing black jeans and a white button up. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows.
"What about you? Are you alone?" He asked me. I said," My friends also dragged me to party, saying that I don't go out often and that I'll forget how to have fun." He laughed at this.
"So, what is your job? If you don't mind me asking" he said. "I am a psychologist, actually." He nodded. "I am an accountant. He kept on talking on talking about his job, I didn't stop him either. His eyes had a glimmer of joy and his face showed complete happiness. This man really loves his job.
"Can we go and talk outside? It's quite hot in here." He nodded and we both walked towards the exit of the club. The cold breeze of the night really felt wonderful on my skin. As we were walking, I could see a lot of tattoos peeking out of his shirt. "Wow! You have a lot of tattoos on your arm. Do they have a meaning?" I asked. "Yeah, I do have a lot actually and no, not all my tattoos have meaning. They're pretty stupid. You know, a stupid hormonal teenager trying to be punk." I burst out laughing. I turned to look to him and saw he was smiling. I got to see then that he had green eyes. The moonlight shining bright, making his face look even more beautiful, looking like an angel in disguise. I know it sounds clichè but it is what it is. My thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of a phone. I checked my phone and saw that Kevin was calling me. He asked me to come to the club. I and Edward hurried back to the club and saw tipsy Kevin holding a wasted Julia. I carefully put Julia inside the car and Edward helped Kevin. I got in the driver's seat and Edward leaned against the car. "It was really nice meeting you, Ava. I hope to catch up soon." he said. "Yeah, I would really want to meet you again." I said honestly. "Bye, Ava. Good night." I waved at him and started the car.
We reached home shortly. I put Julia on my bed and Kevin happened to take the couch. After changing my outfit to my comfortable pyjamas, I climbed on my bed. I drifted to sleep while thinking about a pair of green eyes and brown curls. Little did I know that it was just the beginning of a hurricane that would soon change my life into something I had never expected.
