CHAPTER 1 - A SIMPLE GIRL

As the dry wind of harmattan blew the streets of Imo state on mid - January, leaving the state with dusty particles at day time and fog in the morning.

Owerri being the Capital of imo state is mainly a center for commerce with many businesses.  Buying and selling, transportation services, public and private limited companies, and most importantly the very famous Imo state university. Everyone was up daily at their businesses, children at their schools and adults at their institutions and buisnesses.

In the streets of Owerri, lived a little family. The Nwoye Family. They lived at 54 Igwe road, owerri, Imo state. The Nwoyes where very devout Traditional Roman catholic family but where one of the very poor families living on this street. The Nwoyes where natives of Anambra state but dwell in Imo state. To this family was a daughter, Ogechi nwoye.

Ogechi nwoye was the only child of her parents. Oge, as she is fondly called by her friends, is a beautiful 22years young lady. She was so greatly admired by men because of her Modest Godly down-to earth behavior. Every man wanted Oge as a wife but she turned them all down not because she was proud but because she wanted something more. She wanted to feel and experience true love. She also wanted to care for her mother who was suffering from partial paralysis resulting from sufferings of everyday life.

Due to the family Oge came from, being a pauper girl, she was able to finish up her secondary school education but couldn't continue by furthering to university. Oge's desire has always been to be a Gynecologist but she didn't see that dream come to pass due to their poverty stricken situation. Her father having died 3 months after she was conceived made things more difficult for her and her sick mother.

To be able to provide for her family, her mother, Nkoli, sold all the clothes which was part of her dowry and she established a food vendor business. Due to paralysis which she suffers, Oge took fully over in the food vendor business.

In front of their house was a medium sized kiosk where they did their food vendor business. Oge would cook the food inside in house and then bring them to the kiosk for sales. She also did delivery services to people in the working sector. She cooks two set of food which where varieties of local dishes such as Jollof and fried rice, stew, fried meat and fish, plantain e.t.c. First set is for the kiosk costumers and the second set of food is those she carries to offices to sell. At least by 11am she is done selling at the kiosk then she will lock up the kiosk and hurry off to sell the second set of food at the offices.

"Oge, what's up, see as you are just shining today" a girl in her twenties dressed in a formal dress at the reception desk, said teasing her

"Shine kwa, Nneka pls am not shining ooo am just hustling" Oge said in amusement.

"Madam Hustler, may God bless your hustle. Pls sell, food for me the usual way" Nneka said laughing.

Nneka Okoro is the trusted friend of Oge, unlike Oge, Nneka came from an average family background therefore she was able to complete her degree to the university level. She and oge went to the same secondary school and bonded over school. Nneka studies business administration at Imo state university and was able to get a high paying job at a renowned business sector.

To help her poor friend out, Nneka asked Oge to come sell food at her office that way it will aid the staffs from walking out of the bank in search of food. They will just have to call up Oge and place their order and their food will be packed nicely for them and delivered to them in their office.

Nneka being a true friend supported oge through her hard times financially, emotionally and even spiritually by going to mass with her on Sundays and other days and by praying with her.
