Michael expected his apparent kidnapping would dominate the school's hallways being the hot topic of at the very least a week yet as he stepped out of the black sedan Mercedes Avion drove him there with no one batted an eye towards some spared him a fleeting glance but that he supposed was because of the car he emanated from, "I will be by to pick you up from school at exactly three" Avion spoke through the window down Michael just waved his backhand acknowledging that he'd heard it and continued walking, being a loner having little to no social life at school he was in the midst a sea of voices. In contrast, he walked alone he preferred it that way his acute hearing was excellent in fact it was inhuman he knew exactly how people spoke about their so-called 'friends when not within earshot of course Michael was not impervious to them being alone made him a bigger target than those trying to blend in that and his familial background he doubted anyone did not know him.
Yet they kept away occasionally a buzzing fly would come his way, a well-placed glare and complete disinterest usually did the trick fanning them away, he detested their presence and they probably hated his non-endearing nature at some point a kind of stalemate of coldness and indifference a silent agreement Michael appreciated.
"Michael!" Rainer Shadowick stood at the top of the stairs entrance into Seasons High, in full uniform black pants, white shirt under a black sweater vest, and black blazer with white lines at its edges, his gray cloudy eyes strained on Michael his usual light attitude disappeared his expression now befitted his dreary demeanor complimented by an almost eerie deep black hair yet something felt off 'I wonder what's got his panties in a nicker' suddenly surprised by his own thoughts Michael went up the expansive concentric semi-circle stairs to the large double doors other students continued entering bypassing Rainer who stood unmoving near the edge of the doors 'Well he will probably tell me'
Michael almost fell off the stair's arms around him in what he assumed was a bear hug. Rainer came at him instantly throwing him off balance for a second, his face mushed scraping the rough surface of Rainer's rucksack. Instantly he wanted to throw the clueless kid away deciding not to only because it would cause too much of a commotion, several others had glanced in their direction barely before continuing to class it was more attention than he needed which was none he waited for Rainer to detach slowly and carefully he did "Are you alright?" what is that in his eyes concern? did the school leak what happened last week Michael seriously doubted they would "I am..."
"I didn't see you on the bus which was unusual, then the rest of last week when you didn't show up for school I got worried" he rambled "Then I heard rumors going around that an incident with the school bus had occurred, no one else missed class I checked! only you so maybe I thought something might have happened so I went by your house at Euclid avenue.."
"When did you.."
"...no one was home so I asked the teachers they said 'He is sick but will be back soon' That's when I knew that something was seriously wrong YOU never get sick even that time in class 8 when the flu swept through the school... wait where are you going" Michael sped past him into the marble tile hallway "Wait up" Rainer ran up to him
Rainer was the only guy in the entire school who seemed clueless to Michael's anti-social attitude ever since they met back in elementary school, somehow they always ended up in the same classes it irked Michael but he had long since given up on trying to avoid him, he lived with his parents some several blocks away from their house almost a street over the bus always dropped him first Michael couldn't definitively say where his home was neither did he care.
Escaping homeroom wasn't particularly hard no one particularly cared whether he attended or not or at least the students didn't, Rainer the social butterfly that he was got lost in a conversation with some of the others conveniently failing to notice as Michael stepped away from him through a back door mostly used by the maintenance staff then he became invisible, he smiled as the rowdy school janitor passed by
"I can hold this for a few more minutes," he thought to himself after practicing for the last couple of nights he got the hang of it keeping it constant by circulating the Celestial Power' throughout his body instead of calling onto his celestial power when needing it yet even that came at a cost he got easily tired if he expended too much energy still the benefits were worth it he smiled as he ran across the tracks on the side of the large football field most people were inside the school by now except a few staff here and there he almost bumped into coach Henry a short used-to-be-buff-now-a-couch-potato man, bald halfway slightly grazing the man's shoulder he didn't stop it would only increase the chances of getting caught. He let himself become visible the school far in sight behind him, it was located in a less populated part of the city on its edges almost secluded from the Hubble-bubble liveliness of it all.
He took a mostly secluded route over a sealed road very few houses flanking it on either side were many trees he suspected led to Bailon manor on the southwestern side, "I can feel it out there" he sighed slowing down the invisibility crystallizing away "it had been an instant but whatever it was shone so brightly it was impossible to not notice" that morning Avion used a different route than usual a bright light had taken form somewhere in the woods they passed if he noticed it the driver barely turned but Michael immediately knew what it was 'Celestial Energy' since the giant snake Michael hadn't found any other trace of celestial power the more he thought about that night the less it made sense like how come a monster with celestial powers came to a place where he was or how can something so big just appear out of nowhere, it would have been discovered long ago needing a lot of food that is large animals or even humans yet it just appeared that one night?
Michael did not know much about celestial power but he knew normal humans and animals were not able to have it perhaps there was a third party involved and if so they must know about it meaning Michael had to find them. "From what I gathered assimilating the energy from that giant snake kick started my powers, I gained some of its abilities temporarily but as time went my body rewrote the snake's weak energy signature into mine completely dissipating whatever it ability granted, it was easy because the snake could not completely assimilate the celestial power like it had been forcefully fed and its body was rejecting it or something like that." he stepped of the road "Whatever that was this morning its in that general direction I need to find it."
the silence was disrupted by the sound of an engine, a car was passing Michael knew it specifically it was a Mercedes "Master Bailon" Avion's low bass voice spoke as he came out of the car "Shouldn't you be in school?"
"Perhaps you'd like to go somewhere else" he commented rather than asked Michael smiled knowing very well his grandfather had put a secret protective detail on him 'this might be more difficult than I'd thought' he thought whoever they were would be very competent 'seems becoming invisible isn't enough to fool him'
"No take me back to school"
Avion drove in silence the reason as to why he had ran from school apparently was not important or if it was not to him anyway Avion would inform his grandfather if he hadn't already he didn't care either way, 'What!?' something pulled at his conscious a feeling out of no where a numb mildly hard pull at his mind he could resist it yet he was too curious to let it pass from the corner of his eye something flashed brighter and closer 'It must have followed me from my original position, whatever it is knows about me and is calling me in fact this strange obsessiveness might not even be mine at all explains why Avion can't sense it.' 'Its targeting me specifically, I guess I need to prepare accordingly.'
By the time he got back, Mr. Emery was in the middle of a class he shot him a long glare before continuing as if acknowledging Michael's presence was much less important than his lecture the entire school it seemed had taken a stance of none aggressiveness towards his disregard for time or truant behavior even his classmates barely batted an eye towards him Michael believed had it been any other teacher they would not spare a second glance well all except Rainer
"Dude where did you go to; Mr. Emery's been speaking for twenty minutes Oh and dean Marsha is looking for you." he whispered as Michael took the seat next to him. "Nowhere just needed to confirm something" Michael smiled Mr. Emery's face contorted into a glower coming late to class was one thing but speaking thereafter really tested his patience of which he had little to begin with, Michael feared anymore and his head would explode.
