Inei contemplated the night when he ruthlessly sacrificed an innocent teenager, his gaze loomed over his bloodied hands.
'What I felt, huh?'
He raised his head, making eye contact with the leader of the Demon Slayer Corpse, Inei opened his lips to reply to his brief, yet crucial question.
"I felt guilty... I felt regret... I felt like killing myself with my own hands"
As the words left his lips, Inei felt his heart twist from the cringe, it was like he was drowning underwater, suffocating from lack of oxygen.
But he could not even show the slightest of emotion, it would prove fatal, very fatal to his entire life. Kagaya's brows relaxed, a sigh of relief slowly escaped his lips.
"That... Is good"
Inei felt the urge to scoff, but held in using all his willpower, he simply did not buy the man's kindness, his paranoia at its peak.
"Huh?"
Inei gave an expression of confusion, trying his best to keep up the act. The Master, however, had already seen through his lies even before he began to tell his feelings.
"Inei Tatsumi of Raiken... You have been forgiven, for the first, and last time"
Now Inei was actually confused. Was that... It?
'You can't be serious'
Ubuyashiki lifted his hands to point his finger at Inei, the latter somehow managed to stay put, even though he felt like moving away from the man's line of vision.
"However... Your treacherous act is known by everyone, every single member of this organisation..."
His turned his back to Inei and walked inside the wooden house, before he entered, Kagaya gave one last glance to Inei.
"Consider this a chance to redeem yourself... and if by any chance, a human succumbs to death by the likes of you, I promise you the next time you wake up, satan will be waving at your meaningless existence"
Inei nodded, the Master shut the door on him. Breaking the ropes binding him, Inei stretched his wrists and then his whole body.
'Hah~ that feels nice'
As if nothing of the unordinary happened, he dusted his shoulders and walked back to pick up his belongings.
On his way, the sharp gazes of the members pierced him from every direction, if looks could kill someone, he might've already died a thousand times.
Shrugging off such nonsensical stunts such as a mere stare, Inei arrived at the entrance gate, his Katana was the only thing laying there.
Pacing towards his blade, he picked it up and tied the sword to his waist. As he was about to exit from the village, Inei was stopped in his tracks by a young woman.
She was a girl of average height, with deep blue eyes that fade to a lighter blue at the bottom, along with white rectangular pupils, straight black hair with a parted fringe, and twin-tails, she also wore two blue butterfly clips to keep her twin-tails in place.
She wore the standard Demon Slayer uniform with the addition of a white nurse dress on top of it, with a blue sash around her waist. Her uniform was tinted slightly blue.
Inei raised his brow at the sudden arrival of this... Maid? Nurse? Whoever it was, he was perplexed about someone having the courage to confront him after being famed as a literal killer.
'This girl is mad, who in their right mind would--!!'
A slap, so fast that he could barely see its blur, struck him on the cheeks. Staggered by the sudden blow, Inei held his jaw.
'She's not some ordinary maid for sure'
Inei lifted his head, staring at the girl in front of him.
"What do you want?"
Of course, there was no point in asking why he received the slap, it was quite obvious why he was treated like that. So instead, Inei decided to calmly ask the woman her reason to 'meet' him.
She dusted her hands, frowning, she took out a letter and gave it to Inei and left on the spot, not even giving him a second glance.
Inei moved his jaw to make sure nothing was wrong with it, fortunately, she was not strong as she was fast, or it would've been much, much worse.
Shaking his head, Inei grabbed both ends of the scroll and opened it. Reading the contents, he was not in the least bit happy.
'Damn this Master... Sigh. I guess therapy was unavoidable'
Inei tiredly threw the scroll away, he was instructed to head toward the Insect Hashira's manor to get the treatment.
'Urgh... My time is being wasted here, I could have slayed twenty demons by now... Umm, maybe that's a bit too much, ten! yes, ten Demons... Sigh'
With another bitter sigh, Inei caressed the sheath of his Katana as he took slow steps toward the manor.
'Hang in there buddy, we'll survive this therapy session... Somehow'
