The Silent Brothers

They all went to City of Bones where the Silent Brothers are.They used Simon's van to get there. The two siblings Izzy and Alex didn't have a choice but to go with Monroe and Jade.

As they went out of the van they saw the place as creepy as they thought it is. You could only hear the crickets and a crow. Dark surroundings, big full moon in the sky, two barrels from both sides that has fire in it and a skeleton of a person at both sides of the door as if guarding it.

Jade ordered Monroe and Simon to stay in the van 'cause they have to check the area first. When it's clear, he called Monroe to come over.

They are walking on a dark place with tall grass in it. They left the three behind as they are walking extra faster and the three are walking slower.Jade talk to Monroe and said "You have to understand, the Silent Brothers are not like us."

"They lack your charms and superior people skills ?" Monroe asked jokingly and smirked.

"Yeah, most people do. Brothers communicate without using words,they communicate by using their thoughts." Jade replied and took a short glanced at Monroe.

"That doesn't sound so bad." She said confidently.

"But don't let their silence fool you. They'll hold the soul sword into your head, and with its blade it carves the truth from your mind. If you are not strong enough, you will die." He warned Monroe to what are they going to face when they get there.

"I take it back. That sounds level ten bad." She said feeling scared.

Jade faced her and hold her arms and said " Monroe, you should know that the pain will be excruciating. You don't have to---" he was not able to finish his sentence and Monroe interrupted.

"I'll do anything." She said without hesitation. "Walk through fire,battle demons, whatever it takes. I have to get my mother back.I can't… I won't lose her."she added with a tone of determination in her voice.

"You won't, we won't." He said that make her feel relieved.

"I can do this." Monroe said to encourage herself upon seeing the skeleton of a person.

"Yes you can. You can do anything." Simon said to her as encouragement who sounded nervous himself. And hesitantly step forward to go inside first. Jade stopped him.

"All right,hold on." he said blocking Simon's way.

"Surprise! No mundanes allowed,just like in the training room, right ? Wrong!" He said to Jade sarcastically."I've seen every horror movie ever made and the funny best friend who gets left behind… dead man" he added. Monroe smiled at him and Izzy on the other hand, was laughing upon hearing what he just said.

"You are not that funny. But by all means, go head then." Jade replied and glance at the door of the tunnel. Simon took a step again and before he could enter, Jade talks, again.

"Of course, the minute you enter, you will die." Simon stop eventually and turned around to face Jade.

"The problem is, now I don't trust you anymore." Simon said and smirked.

"He's not lying." Alex finally talks.

"Now.He was before." Izzy said with her angelic voice and smiled a little.

"The rune energy in the City of Bones will kill any mundane who dares to enter,so, please…" Alex explained.

Izzy sighs and said "The brothers creep me out.So...I'll mind the mundane." She said seductively while smiling and tap Jade's shoulder. Simon walked back slowly.

"Your sacrifice is noted, Izzy." Jade said and walked inside followed by Monroe.

"Talk about sacrifice. I'm missing a financial analysis class." Simon said to Alex and Izzy.

"I can't be here anymore, Jade. I'll mind the perimeter." Alex said annoyed to Simon.

Izzy and Simon just stared at Monroe and Jade's back as they are walking slowly until they can't be seen because of darkness.

"They are getting quite a team." Izzy said mocking Simon to make him jealous. Simon just sighs at the thought and they went inside the van.

Jade and Monroe walk into a dark tunnel that only torch fire on the wall who serves as the light that would lead them the way to the Silent brothers. Until they reach the point where there are stairs going down and skeletons were mounted on the wall and you could hear bats chittering.

Jade breathes heavily as afraid as Monroe's but he tried to be strong as a man. Next to the stairs were like they are inside a cave, there's water trickling, no fire torch that suppose to serve as their light. It is completely dark inside that they could even hear their own heartbeats.

Jade suddenly stopped and took something from his pocket. And a white light comes out of it.

"What's that?" She asked in curiosity.

"A witchlight. We carry it to remind us that light can be found in even in the darkest place like this." He said whispering. "And it's cooler than flashlight." He said smiling to lighten the mood. She just chuckles as a reply.

He gave the witchlight to Monroe and led her the way to a statue of a warrior that has wings and carrying a mortal cup and a sword that jas something written on it in different language.

"What's that say?"She asked him.

"Its the Demonhunter creed "looking better in black than the widow of our enemies." He said proudly.

*Chuckles* "My Latin's pretty rusty,but I'm almost positive that's not what that says." She replied and turned her gaze at him.

He let the light be near the sword and read it "For demon hunters, the descent into hell is easy"

"That should be a post card." She scoffs. They walk following the direction where the blade pointed.

They finally reach the dead end where the Silent Brothers are waiting. The area has only one white light at the center that looks like a spotlight. Jade took the witchlight from Monroe and keeps it. He then walks forward along with Monroe.

Monroe suddenly speaks and looked at him. "I'm sorry...about what I said before about your mom. I didn't know." She said thinking that if ever something will happen to her, she have said sorry to Jade.

"It's cute. You assume I have feelings. I don't." He said smirking and turned his gaze in front." Save the apologies for the mundanes.My mother died when I was a baby.My father died when I was ten." He said casually.

"I'm so sorry." She said upon hearing it all. Jade sighs and look at her.

"Wait, is he… is he buried here?" She asked stuttering and look around.

"No. Circle members are considered traitors. They forfeit their right to be buried here." He answered and look over the place. Sad tone can be noticed in his voice.

"Your dad was a circle member,too?" She asked surprised.

"My father tried to do the right thing and leave the Circle and it cost him his life." Jade said with gritted teeth.

Monroe concluded that the reason why Jade doing all this and why his helping her is because of his father to get revenge.

They walk silently inside holding hands and stepped into the light. She noticed the engraving on the floor where the light was spotted. A circle with bones surrounding it and an eye at the center of the circle. She remembered drawing it before but she doesn't know what it means.

"It means 'clairvoyance'" Jade answered. The moment Jade utters the word the fire torch on the place started to lit up one by one. Every torch was carried by unpleasant looking person wearing a cape, their both eyes were sewed and also their mouth.

They both breathes heavily upon seeing the Silent Brothers. Until someone speaks out of nowhere.

"Demonhunters…" man in deep voice. They both look in front of them thinking that the voice came from there. A person step out from the dark until he gets into the spotlight and remove the hood of his cape.Monroe looked terrified upon seeing the face.

"Come to the circle" the Silent brother ordered Monroe with his deep scary voice.

She walked slowly into the circle and turned his gaze into the silent brother.

"Step away, Jade Wayland." The Silent brother ordered Jade and he moved without a choice. Monroe stared at his back while walking away from them.

"The search of your unconscious...is a perilous one." Said the Silent Brother.

"Please...my memories were blocked. I have to get them back." She pleaded with a terrified face. The other Silent Brothers slowly went closer to them as she was talking.

"If you are not strong enough...the soul sword will kill you." The Silent Brother reminded her. Monroe started to cry and remembered everyone who encourage her that she can do it

"I'm ready." She said strongly and looked into the Silent Brother.
