Chapter 4.

Entering my apartment after a long day of classes, resulting in me having a huge headache, I kick off my shoes and hop on my comfortable couch. I get cosy and switch on the television before switching through channels trying to find an interesting movie to watch. I'm a picky girl. I only watch romance movies, anything other that that just isn't good enough. I love the sappy, cliché, predictable dialogue and nice to look at characters. Most people find it tedious, but I love it.

Finally settling on a channel, I put the remote down and start watching. Slowly losing interest because of tiredness, I drift off into a peaceful slumber.

I wake up to my phone buzzing. I begrudgingly open my eyes, mentally cursing the person who decided to interrupt my sleep. I unlock my phone and squint my eyes at the screens brightness.

Lunch tomorrow @Ryan's? - Taylor.

Smiling, I immediately text back. I haven't seen her much lately. Last time we spent time together was when she came over to my place a week ago. She's been really busy with her studies. It's tough on her, since she's studying law and the breakup is still fresh too, so it's super hard.

Of course. I only have one class tomorrow and it ends at 1pm. You free? - Scarlett.

While waiting for her to reply, I get up and make my way to the kitchen. Not really feeling like cooking today, I throw some preheated lasagna in the microwave. I take out a glass and pour me some apple juice. Juice is something I've had to learn to adjust to, since I  was diagnosed with G.E.R.D last year. I'm not even suppose to drink coffee, but I make an exception because I can't live without it. Most of the time I end up terribly sick at night, but it's totally worth it.

Taking the lasagna out of the microwave, I pile some onto a plate, grab my beverage and walk back into the lounge. Silently eating, I check my phone to see if Taylor responded. Not seeing any new messages, I lock my phone and place it on the coffee table.

My apartment is super cozy, but also spacious, making it easy to move around. I have an open plan kitchen, so you can see the lounge while being in the kitchen. My kitchen cupboards are white, with black surface counter tops. All my crockery are white as well. I have a thing for the color white. My lounge has white couches, with a black coffee table right in the center of the room. A big plasma TV sits on the wall and I have photo frames hanging here and there. There's a white, fluffy rug on the black wooden floors under the coffee table. My apartment has huge windows, providing as much natural light as possible, which I simply love. I have a fireplace right under the tv and make use of it as much as I can. Next to the big window, I have a large bookshelf where I place all my good books. It fits perfectly with the theme of the apartment. Down the hall, I have two bedrooms, one is mine and the other is used as a guest bedroom. I also have a huge bathroom, which has a shower, bathtub, basin and toilet in it. Everything white, of course. And beautiful silver taps with a huge mirror above the basin. My place has a homey feeling to it and that makes me happy because it's my home away from home.

When I first moved in, the place was cold and lifeless, but as time went by I turned it into my own little shrine.

Checking my texts once again, I see a notification stating that I have 2 new messages. Clicking on it I see one from Taylor, telling me that she's free and one from an unknown number. Going into the unknown number, it reads;

Hey, cutie. This is a mandatory check up. So what's the update?🙃- Unknown.

I immediately know it's Jake, because of the nickname and quickly save his number before replying.

Hey, Jake. I am way better than I was earlier. I am completely fine. Thank you for checking up on me.😇-Scarlett.

He takes a few minutes to respond.

Please stop thanking me.☹️ It was honestly no problem at all. I'm just relieved you're okay. Don't forget to text or call me if you ever feel that way again.- Jake.

I smile, appreciating his concern.

I will. I promise. Who knew that the University's bad boy was such a softy?😊- Scarlett

I tease him. Locking my phone, waiting for him to respond I decide to take a quick shower before going to bed.

Climbing into bed, I say a quick prayer before laying down. My phone buzzes and I check it, knowing it's a text from Jake.

Oh come on, sweetheart. Don't insult me like that. I am NOT a softy. You can't call a guy soft, it's a huge blow to the ego. - Jake.

I can't help the laugh that escapes my lips.

Okay... Okay! My bad. I shall never say it again.🙄😂 - Scarlett

You better not. Sweet dreams, cutie. 😉 - Jake.

Goodnight, Jake.❣️ - Scarlett

❤️❤️❤️❤️ - Jake.

I set my alarm for the next morning, before finding a comfortable position in bed. Replaying today's events in my head, I fall asleep with a huge smile on my face.
