CHAPTER 67

Dae Hyun and Min Hye arrived at his house, they freshened up after the long day and prepared to go to bed. Dae Hyun was sleeping peacefully with Min Hye cuddled in his arms on the bed when the alarm sensor rang noisily, disrupting their sleep but only Dae Hyun woke up alerted as Min Hye was already in a deep slumber and put on his glasses.

The alarm sensor went off, alerting him that someone had sneaked into his apartment. He got off the bed slowly and opened the door with a slight creak. He switched on the light upstairs to see clearly since he had a bad eyesight.

He tiptoed downstairs in a hurry towards the living room as he switched on the lights, while searching around in alert for the burglar but he knew all too well that it was none other than the Chairman who was behind it all. He knew the burglar was somewhere in the living room, but he hid as soon as the light was switched on.

Dae Hyun strode towards the kitchen and swiftly took out a knife from the knife holder and coiled his fingers tightly around it as his jaws ticked in anger that Min Hye was been targeted to be killed by whoever had the guts to burgle his house.

He walked slowly as he searched every nook and cranny in the living room in silence, making his presence discreet as possible till he saw a figure crouching underneath the table without realising Dae Hyun's presence moving closer to him. Dae Hyun suddenly grabbed the burglar's neck with a hard grip and viciously dragged him out of his hiding place.

The burglar was on all black and his face was covered with a black mask but Dae Hyun pulled it down to reveal a man in his mid thirties. The man tried to attack Dae Hyun and release a punch on him but Dae Hyun swiftly caught his fist reflexively with a strong hold and twisted his arm firmly, making the man groan in pain. He effortlessly flung the man with force and made him collide with the floor hard and the man groaned in immense pain.

Dae Hyun squatted down to the man's level and firmly pressed his head against the floor with one large palm, making the man groan with gritted teeth as he twisted his body in pain, trying yo escape from his strong hold.

The man managed to get a hold of the tasers in his pocket and immediately brought it in contact with Dae Hyun's abdomen.

Dae Hyun failed to realise the man had a taser in his hold as he was on the verge of crushing the man's skull into the ground with his palm until he felt a hot electric sensation being omitted into his abdomen and it quickly travelled throughout his whole body. Dae Hyun's body stiffened from being electrocuted and he soon fell to the ground with veins popped out of his head and reddened eyes.

The man had a critical head ache as his head had almost being crushed by the man with shocking strength. Dae Hyun was almost recovering from the taser shock and the man got alert as he immediately emitted electricity from the tasers into Dae Hyun's body again for a longer period of time, hoping he would pass out but he didn't. The man stopped electrocuting Dae Hyun as he didn't want to inflict too much harm on him since the Chairman had warned him against harming him.

Dae Hyun's body trembled vigorously as he felt the painful electric sensation go through his body all over again but it didn't stop anytime soon which made him groan in pain as his body was being electrocuted. The man finally stopped with the torture and pain inflicted on Dae Hyun when he was sure it'd be impossible for him to recover from it anytime soon before he was done with his job.

Dae Hyun's body stretched from the electrocution as he convulsed with reddened eyes and popped veins, he couldn't move a finger as he felt his limbs weakened and stiff from the painful electrocution, he saw the man get up slowly, taking out a knife from his pocket. It was clear he was sent by the Chairman to get rid of Min Hye and now he was weak, he was going to get the job done.

He was in a state of turmoil with himself, he had to save her but he was already weakened and in brutal pain that even moving just a finger hurt like hell, so how could he possibly save her when he was useless and she was undoubtedly still asleep. He didn't wake her up because he hadn't thought it wouldn't be such a hassle to get rid of the hitman, but he let his guard down and had been taken unaware by the professional hitman.

Dae Hyun knew it would take a while for him to fully recover from the electrocution but he just had to recover even if it was only a bit, to enable him protect Min Hye, he had to. He knew Min Hye had the heart to kill, but she wasn't as physically strong or skilled as the man which would obviously lead to her death.

Dae Hyun struggled with everything he had in him to move but it was futile, he was temporarily paralysed and his jaws clenched in anger and frustration as he saw the man prepared to move towards the staircase where Min Hye was sleeping in the room.

Min Hye rolled softly in the bed, she had gotten used to rolling into the firm chest of Dae Hyun but she opened her eyes in surprise when she rolled into an empty space. She opened her eyes and it narrowed to the empty space beside her. Her brows creased as she wondered where Dae Hyun went off to.

She got off the bed and stared at the dark skies for a minute before checking the bathroom for Dae Hyun but it was empty also. She pressed her lips in a thin line as she put on a robe since it was cold, her eyes narrowed to the table and noticed his glasses weren't on the table anymore, 'it only meant he had gone out, but where?' She thought inwardly.

She exited the room with light steps and walked through the corridors to the entrance of the stairs and she stopped abruptly as her eyes caught a strange man in black clothes with his hands coiled around a knife. Her eyes narrowed down to Dae Hyun who was lying on the floor stiffly in a paralysed state.

She stared in silence, frozen in position, at the strange picture in front of her, she exchanged confused stares between Dae Hyun and the strange man as she could see clearly that the man had paralysed Dae Hyun but it didn't seem like he wanted to kill Dae Hyun but she observed the way the strange man stared at her and it seemed like she was his target.

Dae Hyun sighted Min Hye at the entrance of the staircase and his blood rushed in adrenaline as the hitman brought his focus to her and he stared at her in silence as she stared at both of them, frozen in her steps. Her facial expression was a stoic one but Dae Hyun knew she was confused at the moment.

Dae Hyun groaned in pain as he struggled to move to save her but it was futile and every painful movement he made weakened him even more, there was nothing he could do to save her now, all he had to do was rest his body and try to recuperate from the electrocution, but in the meantime, she had to save herself.

Dae Hyun's veins burned as he gathered all his strength to speak.

"Min Hye, run!!" Dae Hyun yelled in alert and it suddenly occurred to Min Hye what was going on, Dae Hyun had warned her that one of those few days, the Chairman might try to get rid of her as it was only a few days before the wedding, so it was obvious then, that the man was actually there to kill her and not Dae Hyun.

Immediately Dae Hyun yelled, the man charged at her but she was quick on her feet and she soon disappeared out of sight as she ran as fast as she could into one of the rooms. Her Asperger's syndrome was a lifesaver because she didn't freeze in fear that she was been targeted to be killed and she could still think rationally even in a death and life situation like the one she was in right then but even though she wasn't scared, she didn't want to die now, she finally had a reason to leave and she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Dae Hyun unless the hitman succeeded and killed her, then that wouldn't happen.
