Chapter 2 , A 'normal' day

Light was holding his little sister tightly , he couldn't believe what he had done to her .

He can't believe that she was moving on her own .

" Light are you okay ? "

He held onto his little sister, one of the reasons he became kira tostart with .

He wanted a safe world for her yo live in , yet he was the biggest danger to her .

Tears fell out of his eyes and onto her shoulder .

He didn't want to let go .

" Light what happened ?

And what do you mean ?!"

Light didn't answer the questions Sayu asked him , he just kept crying.

After a few minutes Light calmed down , he was still holding Sayu's hand, too scared to let go .

His mom looked at him with grief in her eyes .

He couldn't see if she was crying or not.

" Light..

We need to talk about what happened.. "

" ... "

" How long ?

How long have you been harming yourself like this ?"

Light didn't answer , he couldn't bare to look at them anymore .

" Light, I have to tell your father about this "

And another struck of guilt filled him .

You killed him , who knows how mad he would be at you .

He started to shake his head.

" No... no .."

" Light , we need to talk about this ... "

He didn't want to.

You killed them , ruined their lives .

Do you think they'll ever forgive you ?

Murderer.

Kira.

Then he felt Sayu holding him tightly .

" Light !!"

He turned his head towards her , she wasn't hurt or paralysed..

She was alive and well .

" You need to calm down. No one's going to hurt you , no kira exists .."

That's right ... Kira's gone.

He doesn't exist anymore .

Feeling utterly exhausted Light slowly went on his bed and back asleep.

What does Light mean by kira ?

Sayu was confused and worried for her big brother.

Seeing her big brother go back to sleep due to exhaustion didn't make her feel better .

Her mother was worried about Light too .

" We need to tell dad about this... How long has Light been doing this ??"

" He's a amazing liar , he could've been suffering for months or maybe years .."

That didn't make Sayu feel better.

" But what made him snap like that ??"

" I fear we will never know "

Said her mother as she grabbed a broom to clean all the glass shards from the floor.

" Was I a bad mother to him ?

I always put a whole ton of pressure on him.."

" No mom !

You're the best mother anyone could ask for !"

And she meant it.

" How about we go rest and talk about this in the morning ? "

Her mother suggested and Sayu agreed.

Light woke up with a tired yawn.

Getting up he noticed his bandaged hands .

So it wasn't a nightmare...

He got up and went to take a shower before wearing his school uniform .

On his way downstairs he saw his mother , Sayu and his father waiting for him .

He couldn't bring himself to look at them .

" Light. "

His father said and took a step forward .

" Look at me son. "

I don't deserve to be called your son , not after what I did.

" Oh son ...

What happened ??"

He was in shock when his father hugged him, he was near tears.

" It's alright now , dad's here "

And he cried.

....

Soichiro heard from his wife and daughter that they saw that their son was hurting himself .

Of course he was worried and wanted to go upstairs to confront and comfort his boy .

Sayu also told him that something named 'kira' was the main reason of his son's distress .

Who is kira ?

Waiting for his son to go downstairs he started to theorize on who this kira could be .

That was till he saw his son walk downstairs .

Light looked tired and a little scared and by his body language he was filled with some sort of shame and guilt .

Was he expecting me to get mad at him ?

He immediately went to comfort his son .

And Light cried .

He cried for the first time in years .

What could've brought my son to cry ?

He wondered but for now comforting his son was more important .

" It's alright son , you're safe now "

Sayu was clearly worried by her sibling's actions .

But after a few minutes of crying Light got back up.

" Do you want to stay here and rest son?"

Light being the perfect attendance kid he is shook his head .

" Okay son , but you can come home as soon as you feel uncomfortable or too tired okay ?"

Light nodded and we all started to eat breakfast .

At school a lot of students noticed his hands.

Why do they care so much ?

It isn't their business.

Light was heavily annoyed by how many students that he didn't know asking him about his bandaged hands .

Can't they just leave me alone ?

He thought as he avoided another student who he didn't know .

In class it was even worse .

It was as if no body knew what privacy was .

He was so mad and ready to leave class as soon as humanly possible.

He didn't even remember how much of suck ups the teachers were .

Always asking him if he's okay when he damn well remembers the teachers actively ignoring students who gets bullied .

Feeling exhausted he got up as soon as the bell ring and went outside .

Then another student who he doesn't know tried approaching him to confess !

He knows that he's attractive and all , but right now he's clearly not in the right mindset for a relationship.

In fact , he never was to begin with !!

Is she confessing her feelings right now cause she knows I'm not in the right mindset?

Is she taking advantage of my tired self to get in a relationship with me?

Sure he is attractive but not at the point people ignored his mental health to cop a feel .

Disgust filled him .

It reminded him too much of himself and

Misa's 'relationship' if you can call it that.

" Ew "

The student was in shock and tears came on her eyes .

" You really thought it was a good idea to confess when I'm clearly not in the right headspace ?

That you oh so gladly pointed out infront of the whole class this morning ?

Are you trying to take advantage of my vulnerability to get a date ?"

Light asked as he grabbed his backpack from his chair.

" That's disgusting ."

And he walked outside the classroom , leaving a quiet classroom behind.

Walking to his next class he was utterly pissed off but he managed to calm down .

They are children Light , they don't know wrong from right.

The class soon followed and sat down as the lesson began .

Sitting on his chair he noticed a similar notebook fall from the sky .

He froze a little in horror.

The Death note .

He was called to translate a sentence by the teacher and he translated it .

This sentence seems a little ironic.

As soon as the bell ring he went outside to check and indeed .

It was the Death note right in front of him.

He remembered how the Death note influenced him to kill and how it made others slowly insane .

So he grabbed the notebook and threw it in the nearest fire he could find .

" Good riddance. "

....

He was walking home from school only to be confronted by the girl who confessed to him.

Noticing the glint of a knife in her bag Light did what anyone could do .

He ran like his life depended on it.

I am not going to die again !

Not this fucking early !!

The girl ran after him and started to yell some bullshit about true love.

Light only ran faster , not wanting to deal with another girl like Misa in this life.

That was till he heard stabbing sound and a loud thud .

Turning around he saw that the girl tripped and stabbed herself in the stomach .

He immediately called the police and hospital .

What the hell ?

This never happened before.

He was questioned on what happened and the girl was brought to the hospital .

Feeling utterly exhausted he grabbed his backpack and walked home.

As he made it home he saw the news of the children hostages .

He felt pity for the children but he knew better than to think that the Death note would save them .

What suprised him was the fact the children ran out of the shop unarmed , the teacher and criminal seemed to have had a heart attack .

What the ?!

That wasn't supposed to happen .

Heck none of the death's should've happened !

Light immediately looked at his mother who was looking at the T.V in shock .

He needed to be sure if it was kira .

Or if it was just an accident .

So he remembered the second time he used the Death note and went to cram school.

The second death should be when I walked home from school and saw this woman getting harassed..

All I have to do is wait.

As he was walking home he saw the women getting pinned down by the bikers .

He grabbed a rock and threw it at one of the bikes.

The bikers were distracted and the woman got a chance to free herself .

The leader realizing it was a distraction hopped on his bike and went after her .

Only for a truck to appear out of nowhere , running both the biker leader and the woman over.

What the hell ?!

That never happened before !!

Light immediately panicked and called the police, not noticing how the bikers looked at him in pure horror.

As he returned home with tons of theories in his mind .

Who is the new kira ?

What is this new kira planning ?

He barely noticed that someone familiar was sitting on the couch .

His father was looking at the familiar person... or death god with suspicion and his mother was in the kitchen making a meal.

" There you are Light-o, your dad was getting suspicion if I was your friend or not .

Where were you ? "

" Ryuk ?!"

" You bet I am "

What is he doing here ?!

And how is he even human ?!

Light grabbed Ryuk's arm and dragged him to his room, leaving his father with suspicion .

" Ryuk what are you doing here ?! And aren't you supposed to be a-"

" I know "

Ryuk interrupted as he shut Light up and pointed at the door .

Right.

His family might eavesdrop , heck I never realized that my family could do that !

" Honestly I don't know Light-o .

I just woke up like this . "

" Do you still have your Death note ?

Or any of your death god powers ??"

Light asked in a hushed tone and Ryuk shrugged.

" No , my death notes are as good as someone else's and my powers are gone "

He hushed back and Light wanted to cry

So someone else must have it !

I failed to stop kira .

" Hey , but if there's someone who could stop kira , it would be you .

Remember you have information no one else has "

Ryuk said in a hushed tone and plopped on his bed.

True .

I can arrest kira before any one else will have to suffer !

With a new determination he went outside his room.

" So Light ...

Who is he? "

" Oh Ryuk ?

He's my friend from middle school . "

" If that's what you say Light . "

Sayu said and Light rolled his eyes.

Sayu is always this playful ...

Before you took her life from her

He covered his ears for a bit and shook his head.

You've always tried to protect me a little Sayu , but I'll protect you from now on okay ??
