Keiren looked around, trying to make sense of his surroundings. Everything was familiar yet surreal, like a twisted reflection of the life he once knew.
The memory of his death was vivid, and yet here he was, back in a place he thought he'd left forever.
'I remember it clearly. When a person completes school, to join any sect, they must take part in the selection ceremony.'
It was today in his past life that made him kill himself, he was unable to materialize his soul weapon and was deemed ineligible to be an awakened human.
This was because of the decreasing capacity of humans to naturally absorb mana and thus be unable to have the necessary resources to materialize their soul into a weapon.
He couldn't bear to tell his sister that he didn't have enough power to search for his parents, who had never returned after the first apocalypse war. Their death was not confirmed by the army due to their missing bodies, so there was still a chance they may be alive.
Even now, it was his parents' pension that provided them with monthly money for their daily needs. Without it, who were they? Just two lost souls, clinging to the hope of a family that might never be whole again.
Keiren felt a wave of guilt and shame wash over him. He had been so consumed by his despair that he hadn't considered his sister or thought about the impact his actions would have on her.
He had taken his life, leaving her alone in a world filled with uncertainty and danger.
"This time won't be the same," Keiren whispered to himself, determination hardening his resolve.
However, he dozed off right after-
1 hour later,
An 18-year-old girl walked into the room, she had deep black hair, and her eyes hazel in colour. The girl had a small face and her body was fit for her age. However, right now she was annoyed.
In front of her was a boy sleeping with a smug smile on his face
"HAHAHA! I CAN FINALLY BUY THE AUTOGRAPH OF MISS UNIVERSE WITH MY POCKET MONEY!... HAHAHAHA"
Shivers ran down the girl's spine.
While Keiren was sleeping, he felt a pinching pain in his left ear, waking him up.
"Aaaaa!... Sorry... sorry… Please forgive me, sis!..." The boy squeaked, his tone apologetic.
"Hey now, little brother, why are you saying sorry? I also want to hear about the Miss Universe you were dreaming about." Said Aanya, barely suppressing her anger.
"Isn't it time for us to leave? I'll just go and get ready, hahaha-" Keiren said, trying to dodge his sister's questions.
Aanya sighed as she looked at the 15-year-old boy running into the bathroom.
As he got ready, the girl went to change into a more casual outfit, another half an hour passed.
Out of the door came two people, Aanya was covered in a reddish-orange energy. She extended her hand to Keiren to hold it.
Flames burst out from below her feet as she carried the boy and flew to the venue for the selection ceremony.
"Uhhh… Sister Aanya, why can't we go the old-fashioned way? I don't like flying-"
"Hmph! As if I don't know that all you care about is your looks-" The girl flew faster, trying to annoy the kid who was holding onto his hair like his life depended on it.
They arrived 15 minutes later, exactly at 08:00 am.
"All students please enter the building, anyone other than students is not allowed. You can view the rankings live on the screen presented in front of the building." said a man standing guard in front of the gates.
"Kei, take care and don't stress out. Even if you are not strong enough, remember that I will always be there for you," Aanya stated, ruffling her fingers through his hair.
Keiren did not react and just nodded his head. It was because his mind was somewhere else,
"If I hadn't revived back in time, what would have happened to sis?"
The boy walked inside the building; it was not very decorated but looked clean. In front of him was a hall that led to many other rooms. He then walked towards a man taking some children to the testing place.
The man saw him and asked him to walk along them. They went to the 7th room where more than a dozen beds with headgears were placed.
"Just lie down and log into the headgear." The man said, leaving the room.
As the boy knew the procedure to the selection ceremony, he lay down and started the machine

[ Soul weapon: A crown ]
"A Crown? How is that possible- I did not awaken any soul weapon the last time I was here!
Meanwhile, the crowd outside and the people around the world were waiting for the results.
