By this time, everyone had already arrived. They gathered in the kingdom's garden and which was specifically reserved for this big, unexpected family gathering.
Even the queen of Kingdom Elysion asked for her adviser to watch over the kingdom as she excitedly wanted to meet her family--especially her grandchildren!
With the adults together as they asked for the maids to babysit for them, they all chilled and relaxed--finally off of the hairs of their children.
"Hmm..."
The King of Gehenna thought for a while, looking at their grandchildren playing in one part of the garden.
"Until now, I'm still confused about who is who--their names and all."
"Really?" Queen Heraleen was surprised, arching a brow at her. "How could you not be familiar with your own grandchildren?"
King Blanc scoffed. "Oh, really? Are you telling me that you know them by heart already considering how many they are and how they were almost born in the same year?"
"Well..."
"Ha!" King Blanc exclaimed proudly, making Queen Heraleen narrow her eyes at him. "I knew it. You act as you know, but you are confused, too, yourself!"
"Whatever, dear."
They then continued drinking their tea as they ate their food, the children actually having fun as they were now playing as cousins and friends.
Devin and Angeal had Damon and Annalise. . For Arvid and Frey, they had a son, Blaine. For Ivar and Gwen, they had Cydrill and Cam. Levin and Ava had twins, boys named Levrynn and Avarynn. Nevin and Dharvey had twins as well—Aidan and Nadia.
The cousins, Damon, Annalise, Levrynn, Avarynn, Aidan, and Nadia were inseparable. Even though Damon is the eldest among the siblings, they still see Cydrill as their leader even though they are not relatives because she is the eldest in their group.
It was a noisy but fun environment in the garden, which made everyone look forward to the next occasions that they're going to have in the next months now that they are doing it for the first time this year.
"We really should have this often," Martha commented, looking at the children. "I love seeing them together."
"Indeed," Eucraick replied, his smile also doting towards the children. "It's nice to unwind every now and then and do occasions like this."
At the same time, Devin put his teacup down and cleared his throat, getting everyone's attention.
"And where's Amon?"
Nevin arched a brow at him, wondering why his older brother is asking for him.
"Why are you looking for him?"
"I'm curious," Devin immediately answered, leaning on the rest of his chair. "You see, I heard about his story--about saving a little girl and she was taken here under the kingdom's wing."
"Oh, so you heard about that," King Blanc commented, his next remark making the others laugh. "Do you remember how you saved your wife and married her?"
Every adult who heard the king's comment laughed, especially Angeal, Devin's wife. With Devin knitting his brows together as he felt slightly embarrassed by his father's comment, he spoke in his defense.
"How is this about me when I'm talking about Amon? Come on... this isn't about me."
"I'm sorry, son. I'm sorry." King Blanc apologized to him, the laughter of the adults now ceasing. "Well, he is now doing his responsibility as the newly appointed Grim Reaper of the kingdom."
Levin cocked his head to the side, curious.
"Is he that devoted to his work?"
"Well, yes... and no," Eucraick answered, further explaining Amon's side. "He is dedicated to his job because he sees it as thanks for me taking care of him. Other than that, the reason why he is focusing on his job is for him to avoid Lilith."
"Lilith..." Angeal spoke, everyone's eyes on her. "Is the name of the child, right?"
"Yes, given by Amon himself," Dharvey, Nevin's wife, answered.
"I see... so the reason why we also held this gathering was for the little girl to mingle with people of her same age, is it not?"
With Queen Heraleen asking that question, King Blanc and his adviser, Eucraick, nodded once to answer. As they remember Lilith right here and then as well, they wonder why she still isn't around.
"I guess little Lilith is worried and nervous about today's meeting," Eucraick mumbled, enough for everyone to hear.
"She will be alright," Ava, Levin's wife, said, sipping a little tea from her cup. "The children will definitely make her feel most welcome. We are sure of it."
The adults then continued talking amongst each other. As they waited for little Lilith to arrive, they also talked about her possibility of becoming an immortal because of her unique physical traits.
But what kind of immortal being, however?
She doesn't have healing powers. It was proven when she scraped some parts of her body from running around. Also, she doesn't seem to show hints of having magical prowess.
But even then, they find it impossible for one to have natural light blue hair, having unique colors for her eyes even though she has heterochromia.
They thought that with Lilith interacting with other people, especially kids of her age, they might find something out. Of course, since Lilith mostly interacts with adults of this kingdom, how could she act as her young self?
As a child, of course, she has to mingle with people of her same age group. Because of this idea, they hope to at least find clues as to what Lilith is--even just a little.
"Ah... Amon."
At the same time, Amon, the Grim Reaper, already arrived at the gathering. With him greeting the people in the garden, everyone's eyes are on him as he spoke.
"Good day, everyone," Amon greeted. "Sorry for arriving last. I apologize in advance as well as I won't be too long in this event."
"There you go again," Nevin commented, scratching the back of his head. "You don't have to avoid everyone."
"I know," Amon said, letting out a sigh. "But I could not commit a single mistake. I may have my mask on, but we may never know what's to happen."
King Blanc, Eucraick, and Nevin sighed in unison. They know Amon all too well that no matter how much they convince him...
The Grim Reaper will always be cautious of how he is around people because of his uncontrollable power of death.
To avoid confusion, you may just read this as a normal chapter~ there is no need for you to read The Soul Eater's Possession in whole as this is a stand-alone book~
