Death's Lover

"Why are you wearing cow head mask? Lilith asks you this question the third time." Amon groaned, tipping his head up. It made the snout of his mask point at the sky, making Lilith giggle as she found the view funny. "It's weird. Lilith thinks you're ugly that's why you're hiding your face." Hearing this, Amon couldn't help but look at her through his mask. If only he wasn't wearing it, Lilith would see how he arched a brow at her statement as he didn't like what she said. "You said it's rude for people to be ignored. Aren't you being rude for making such a remark?" "Oh!" Lilith gasped, making her cuter as she immediately touched her mouth with both of her hands in an attempt to shut herself up. The little girl spoke again, her voice heard even though she talked softly. "Lilith didn't mean to... Lilith is sorry. But Lilith was honest. Doesn't that make Lilith a good girl?" *** Amon, the Grim Reaper, appeared in the mortal realm to fulfill his job in collecting the souls of the dead. However, an unusual event occurred when he was about to collect one dying pregnant woman's soul. She was giving birth right before she died, making Amon panic and worry as her dying wish was for him to save her child! With the Grim Reaper actually a softie and is willing to take care of the infant despite the rule of their job to not interfere in mortal affairs, what lies ahead for Death and his now-growing human, Lilith? *** "Why do you wear that?" "19 years have passed—" Amon started, "—and this is still what you want to ask about?" "Well, yes." Lilith grinned. --- WARNING: Some chapters of this story contain mature R-18 content. Avilyn

"My apologies, King Aluxio," the woman apologized, further lowering her bow. "It's just that the fairies are anxious, and is waiting for the result of—"

"King Aluxio, King Aluxio!" The woman's statement was cut mid-sentence, when another fairy, a male, flew towards them in a panic. "That woman... finally. She's awake!"

Not bothering to reply to his fellow fairy, immediately, King Aluxio flew in the direction of where the male fairy came from. The moment he did, he shouted to order everyone around him.

"You are not to enter with me. Understand!?"

And so the fairies dared not speak a word. With their king now entering the room, King Aluxio sealed the room with leaves and thorns for others not to disturb them.

"Damn you, Avilyn," King Aluxio cursed within his breath. "If only you didn't change how you looked, I would have found you and killed you in my stead!"

The fairies outside the room stayed still. Some stayed afloat, while the others had their wings hidden in their backs.

They all looked at each other with forlorn and worried, anxious expressions on their faces as if they were unsure of what was to happen.

The vines with thorns that King Aluxio made clearly blocked the pathway and the door, clearly and obviously made to secure his and the woman's presence.

The woman who was announcing to the king bit her lip. With her fingers fidgeting, she let out a sigh as she mumbled to herself only she could hear.

"Avilyn... stay strong."

***

The room where they were in is completely empty, with only a big mushroom in the middle of the room seen.

They were surrounded by the waterfalls and the fluorescent mushrooms around them, some specks of dust and fireflies flying about in the demesne.

The room was a combination of blue and gold, making it a fitting place where fairies like them live.

King Aluxio flew slowly and elegantly towards the mushroom in the middle of the area. As his eyes locked on the tired figure that was on the cap of the mushroom, he glared at her.

If looks could kill, he would have stabbed her many times already.

The woman on the cap of the mushroom winced, curling up into a ball as she embraced both of her knees. She was completely naked, only having a thin white cloth covering her torso.

Her brown hair covered most of her face. Her eyes were completely shut as if she was still in pain. She was breathing heavily, the king the only one who could hear her drawing a breath in and then exhaling it out.

The moment King Aluxio then was at the foot of the mushroom, he slowly descended. He looked at the woman lying on the mushroom with a condescending look, his voice harsh in the ears of the woman.

It immediately sent shivers down her spine.

"Avilyn. Unfortunately for you, you're still alive."

The woman didn't reply. With her continuing to shiver as she embraced herself, Aluxio walked towards her, his bare feet feeling the moist grass beneath him.

"Avilyn." King Aluxio called her name once more, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he looked at her as if she were trash. "Where is the child?"

Avilyn slowly opened her eyes. The moment she stopped shaking on the cap of the mushroom, she then sat up, a white and gold glow engulfing her slowly from her feet, going up to her legs, to her torso, and then to her head.

It was as if Avilyn's body appearing this way is what Aluxio expected. The woman's brown hair then changed to a long one, up until her waist, her hair turning gold as well.

The moment her eyes completely opened, it showed her yellow eyes as bright as the sun, now locking with King Aluxio's green ones. Soon after, a white, thin, silk dress covered her body, making her feel warm.

After her transformation, they both stayed still. They kept staring straight into each other's eyes, Avilyn's facial expression now as cold as Aluxio's.

"Aluxio," Avilyn greeted, now sitting elegantly on the mushroom as she waited for his reply.

"You dare speak my name when I am your king," he said, his words piercing her straight in the heart as if he was talking to a stranger. "Where is the child?" he asked yet again, Avilyn, shaking her head to answer him honestly.

"I don't know."

"You--!!"

Aluxio raised his hand to hit Avilyn. However, as he was about to do so, the fairy before him stood and magically appeared in front of him, holding his face quick and elegantly.

It completely froze Aluxio, her action unexpected as they have never seen each other for such a long time.

"You will never see the child again, Aluxio. That is my dying wish."

"!!"

Aluxio flinched. He took a few steps back as if Avilyn was a virus, scared that he may get tainted with whatever she has.

"How dare you touch me!? How dare you--"

"Why shouldn't I?" Avilyn cocked her head to the side, feigning ignorance as she now smiled coldly at the king. "You told me I was the love of your life, right? You told me that I will be the mother of your child. Why should I not touch you?"

King Aluxio pointed at Avilyn as if he was accusing her of a grave crime.

"You have to tell me where that child is! You have to--"

"No."

Avilyn interrupted him, a gold glow engulfing her body as she showed her wings. She then flew, surprising the king with how powerful she is when he always thought that she is just an ordinary fairy.

How could she be this strong?

"You underestimate me, Aluxio. And obviously, you underestimate the future that the child will have."

Avilyn then was the one who pointed at him, now looking down at him as if he was scum.

"I regret giving you my heart and I swear all my life that you will get what you deserve!"

"Avilyn--"

All of the fairies outside the room gasped when they saw the little spaces of the vines emitting gold specks of light. Soon, it then was on fire, surprising them once more when they saw a powerful fairy emerge from the room for its escape.

The king's eyes followed its trail, his eyes wide as he watched Avilyn travel like a ball of fire aimed at the sky.
