Lilith blushed. She got her shawl from the ground and wrapped it around her shoulder. She was to put it on and be conscious of what she is wearing for how many times... why is she always such an airhead?
Lilith then took a few steps back. As Amon now was no longer distracted with how Lilith looked as of the moment, the young lady thought that she had to change the topic somehow.
"Thank you for telling me more about my mother and why I am being protected," Lilith said, thanking him in the process. "Finally, I could understand why everyone was overprotective."
As long as you understand," Amon said, pouring him another glass of wine.
"But still... there is no need to worry because you know, nothing has happened yet."
Lilith was adamant of her point. With it being repeated how many times already, Amon let out a sigh as he shook his head.
"Alright, alright... I have no choice--you are going to the human world with us."
Lilith smiled. Her smile this time was rather sweet, as if finally, she was given something that she had always wanted in the first place. Well, it is indeed what she had always wanted in the first place. Lilith can now finally explore the human world without hesitations!
"However, you have to follow my instructions."
Lilith blinked her eyes a few times when she heard the Grim Reaper say that.
"I beg your pardon?"
Amon looked at her through his cow-head mask, further elaborating his orders.
"You have to stay in Ivar's mansion at most times. You will only be with Nevin's family and you are not to come with us."
"Whaaaaat?" Lilith sounded like the character of Despicable Me, one of the minions, who exclaimed their disappointment. "Are you locking me in that place, too?"
Amon shrugged. "Well, better than not allowing you to come to the human world and letting you stay here, right?"
Lilith narrowed her eyes at him and mumbled to herself that still allowed the Grim Reaper to hear her words.
"You are so cunny... you know that, right? It's as if you allowed me to go, but still not giving me the liberty that I so wish."
"You'd rather go or not?" Amon asked, arching a brow at her even though Lilith couldn't see.
Lilith puffed her cheeks. As she blew some loose tendrils of her hair that was on the side of her face, she crossed her arms in front of her chest, emphasizing her bosom.
"Whatever... fine... as long as I get to explore the human world and I would get to enjoy with Nadia and the others."
"Good."
There was silence once more. The Grim Reaper continued drinking his wine, the young lady watching him from the corner of her eye.
'Has he always been this stoic?'
Lilith further watched him--how he moved, and how he exhibited himself.
Amon is so formal, making Lilith wonder if he had always been raised like this. She knew that they were both raised by the king and Eucraick, but why is it that he often held himself back?
And the mask... damn the mask is really something.
For what purpose is that?
"I know that I always ask this for how many times--" Lilith began, getting the attention of the Grim Reaper. "But for what purpose is that mask?"
And yet, as expected, Amon didn't answer her question and just looked at her, making the young lady sigh as she further spoke.
"I really can't get the answer to that, huh..." Lilith furrowed her brows together in wonder. "Are you wearing that just for you to live up to your job as a Grim Reaper? Don't tell me you have a scythe, too?"
Amon could tell that even though Lilith was frustrated of not getting the answers that she needed, she still threw a joke at it since she already expected that the silence would make it awkward.
However, right now that they are alone, Amon thought that maybe it is alright for her to know.
"No."
When Amon suddenly spoke, Lilith looked at him, the Grim Reaper now putting his wine glass down. He continued talking and listened to him speak.
"I'm doing this for a reason. I know I'm protecting you, too, but it's for everyone's protection."
Lilith blinked her eyes a few times, cocking her head to the side as she was curious as to what this protection meant.
"What kind of protection?"
Amon stood up from the bar stool. As he paced to the paintings that were present in the room, he let out a sigh and answered her question, yet rather vaguely.
"It's because of my powers."
"You... powers?" Lilith walked to his side, also looking at the paintings as they talk. There was neough distance between them that made Amon feel grateful that it's not that awkward. "What powers? Your soul taking?"
"En."
Lilith looked up at him, looking at his left side profile.
"Is your power that... powerful? Different?"
"Different," Amon answered immediately, now elaborating his power as he touched the painting before him, feeling the sensation of the dried oil paint. "Put it simply, this mask makes me control my uncontrollable power."
"You always speak in riddles," Lilith commented, letting out a chuckle at the same time. "Kinda like an old man, too, since you beat around the bush and not go directly to what you mean to say."
Amon felt a little stung by her comment. However, it is indeed true... he is stiff like that and he couldn't help it.
With little interaction with people, how could he be so good at communicating?
Amon shook his head. With a sigh coming out from him as well, Lilith felt like she is slowly getting to know him more with how little by little the Grim Reaper is willing to open up to her.
"I can't directly look at people, even immortal beings, directly in the eyes."
Lilith still looked at him. However, even though the mask hid his face, she could tell by the tone of his voice how heavy it is to tell her these information.
"Because if I do look at them, Lilith... they'd die."
