Chapter 41: False Hope

H'el found himself weightless.

In an instant, H'el felt like an ordinary person, standing on level ground, falling uncontrollably backward, about to crash into the ground.

But what he crashed into was not the ground; it was like shattering glass, and among the shards reflected everything that ever was – things and objects, flowers and grass, sounds and ocean waves. H'el fell into the first layer of the dream dimension.

Time here was ten times faster than in reality.

There was a sensation of plummeting backward in time, like a dream, making everything feel unreal.

His mind fell back into the second layer: reality.

The first layer was ten times the speed of external time flow.

The second layer was a hundred times the speed of external time flow.

The fractured time and thoughts seemed to split, as if there were three different rates of thinking. Everything was his thoughts, yet they felt divided, not his own.

The third layer.

The fourth layer.

The fifth layer.

The sixth layer.

The seventh layer.

The eighth layer.

The ninth layer.

The tenth layer.

With each descent into a deeper layer, the craving for a deeper stream of time intensified, like cosmic time, ready to penetrate into the deepest corners of the mind, unveiling all the mysteries of the universe.

The dream dimension.

It had an unparalleled and irresistibly deadly allure, greater than any drug – an insatiable temptation.

H'el's psychic projection floated above the palace, beneath a black cloak whose hem rustled in the wind. His black eyes appeared vacant, devoid of any emotion.

On the International Space Station, H'el opened his eyes. He had been controlling his psychic projection to act as his presence on Earth.

"Amazing, truly amazing."

The surprise Edward had given him was truly overwhelming.

H'el had thought that Edward, possessing psychic abilities, would develop various applications from different angles. However, he had never imagined that Edward would be so clever, seeing an angle H'el had overlooked, using the dream dimension to trap him.

If he were three or four levels lower than him, it might have been possible for him to trap H'el using the dream dimension.

That was what H'el found so astonishing.

Edward was truly remarkable.

Edward's level of brilliance was so remarkable that H'el couldn't bring himself to use psychic violence to shatter the dream dimension.

It was like a seed of a dimension, with the potential to become a supreme deity, ruling over the dream dimension. There should be even greater and more vast possibilities.

Destroying it with psychic violence at this point would be a great loss.

As H'el's psychic projection descended into the tenth layer of the dream dimension, he deeply sensed the formation and function of the dream dimension. He unraveled its mysteries, experiencing this astonishing dimension.

He was determined to nurture this dream dimension.

Lying on the International Space Station, a smile played on H'el's lips. He extended his fingers, forming a scissor shape, and severed the psychic link to his own psychic projection, leaving that psychic energy permanently within Edward's dream dimension.

Above the palace, H'el severed the psychic connection to his psychic projection, causing his black-cloaked form to tumble in mid-air.

The many members of the Human Association who witnessed this scene were left stunned.

"He... is falling?"

"He is falling!"

"We did it."

"Edward... Well done!"

"Oh... YES!! We've saved humanity."

"Haha, from now on, let us lead humanity into a new future."

"I'll gladly accept all of this... Hahahahaha!!!!"

At first, these humans were bewildered. They stared wide-eyed, glasses of red wine frozen in their hands, gazing intently at the screen.

The... alien... was dead?

They had once believed that this extraterrestrial being was immensely powerful, surviving nuclear blasts, and would be a lifelong adversary for these Earth humans.

They had thought that, at the very least, their future would involve a colossal war with Gaia awakening, where the Earth's magnetic field and continental plates would become the battleground.

It would also involve Lazarus relentlessly accumulating kinetic energy through death-defying runs, ultimately leading to His demise.

It might even involve their various superpowered methods maturing, sparking a fierce war for human freedom in the future.

But they never expected that, on their very first attempt, Edward's probing attack would kill him.

It was merely Edward's intervention.

He truly was a terrifying master of psychology, possessing the means to manipulate hearts invisibly.

Moreover, he was the first to obtain the superhuman gene serum, becoming a being with superpowers.

They had thought this was merely a test, an attempt to uncover how many weaknesses this deity had.

They could never have imagined what they would witness!

Edward harnessed the psychic power of five hundred million people, confronted H'el face-to-face, and then the deity fell from the sky.

The battle of psychic powers, they may not fully comprehend its danger and complexity. But in the sky, the body that once loomed over Earth's inhabitants lost its composure and plummeted towards the ground. They witnessed it vividly, every eye widened, unable to believe their own eyes.

"Is this real?"

Jupiter was filled with uncertainty as she watched H'el falling from the sky. Her emotions were tightly wound, her slender fingers clenched into fists. She harbored a deep desire to kill this alien who had scorned humanity, these humans with the highest intellect.

But reason told her that now was not the time.

She struggled with her conflicting emotions, gazing intently at the screen, eyes wide open, saliva swallowed back.

Many members of the Human Association who watched the satellite feed were caught in a whirlwind of emotions—happiness, excitement, and regret, all deeply intertwined.

They were regretful because they didn't bring down the deity themselves.

They were excited because they believed that they would now dominate this world, leading its people into an unprecedented future of superhuman abilities.

"This world will be ruled by us!"

Even before H'el's psychic projection hit the ground, they had already begun planning their respective ambitions. They were elegantly sipping from their glasses, smiles on their faces, shimmering with anticipation. They were busy with their thoughts and plans, preparing for their own ideals and aspirations to become reality.

Without the looming presence of a deity overhead, without that dark cloud, the air felt so fresh, the sky so blue, and even the scent of wine bursting on their tongues was vivid and sweet.

In the next moment, their soaring ambitions and joy had not yet reached their peak when they plummeted into the abyss.

H'el, still in mid-air with his psychic projection, infused himself with another surge of psychic power from the International Space Station.

The falling H'el suddenly opened his eyes wide, his black cloak billowing as he soared upwards, suspending himself above the palace. He faced Edward, whose psychic power had dwindled almost to nothing.

"Sigh..."

Edward sighed deeply, almost mournfully, with a lingering sense of regret in his gaze.

This was the best method he could think of to kill a deity—striking from an angle H'el hadn't noticed. Creating a dream dimension to let him self-destruct within it.

But clearly, with H'el sensing his presence in this body, he had failed.

And there would be no second chance.

With H'el's learning ability, if he mastered the dream dimension and continued to innovate, he would become even more unbeatable.

Edward, in his sigh, had lost all hope.

The faint psychic power dissipated with the wind and sand, and once again, the people knelt beneath the sandy winds.
