31: Choices

"Snap!!"

Wade snapped his fingers several times, and a layer of red light lit upon his fingers.

What followed next was a small flame, which made Wade's fingers feel warm.

"This is similar to a candle's flame!" Wade smiled, and then he placed the flames on the burner.

"After becoming an apprentice, I am able to use these energy particles for simple daily activities, this is really convenient!"

Wade exclaimed again, and asked, "Abby, have you recorded the processes earlier?"

[Beep! Logging is done, please provide a name!]

"Simple usage of Fire elemental energy particles!]

[Beep! The renaming is done, storing in data bank]

With the help of Abby, Wade had one of the best comprehension abilities for the usage of energy particles amongst the Rank 1 Apprentice.

Wade smiled, but as he was about to stand, he suddenly felt giddy.

"I overspent my Mental Force earlier!" Wade realised the reason and smiled bitterly, "The Mana of a Rank 1 Apprentice is still too minuscule. To properly use the energy particles on a daily basis, I must only do it when I am a Rank 3 Apprentice at least.

Wade rubbed his temples, "I already meditated earlier, so now I can only sleep to replenish my Mana by sleeping!"

He blew off the flame on the burner and entered into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Wade was filled with vigour as he got off the bed, and headed to Mentor Fred's lab.

"Oh? This energy movement?" The half-dead Fred was amazed, and immediately looked at Wade who had walked in, "Wade, you have broken through!"

"Yes!" Wade humbly lowered his head.

"It has only been twenty-odd days since you started meditating, it seems like your aptitude amongst the fourth-grade apprentice is outstanding!" Fred smiled with satisfaction.

"Oh!! You should first update your information on your crystal ball so that the Academy can know of your achievement's. This will be helpful in the future when you want to take on missions." Fred told him the procedure.

"Yes, Mentor!" Wade replied and following his instructions he took out his Crystal ball and injected the mana stored in his rune into the ball.

Slowly, his data in the crystal ball changed:

[ Aptitude - Grade 4.

Element - Shadow, Darkness, Fire, Earth.

Talent - Clone: can create a clone according to host making, consists of strength based on creation, helpful during escape or curse situation.

Status- Rank 1 Apprentice

Strength - 1.2 Agility - 1.2

Vitality - 1.6 Spirit - 2.0.

Magic Power - 2.0 ]

Seeing the data he instructed Abby to update his data according to the crystal ball.

After he had updated his data his mentor could see it on his own personal Crystal so he nodded at him indicating that the procedure was done.

"Professor! I have already become a Rank 1 Apprentice and have understood the basics from the public lessons..." Wade said.

"I know, you wish to choose the subjects for the knowledge I am providing!" Fred interrupted Wade's speech.

Wade knew that most of the knowledge given in the public lessons we're from their past understanding.

As for the new insights they had gained from their own experience and research would only be sold for a high price of 20 to 30 magic crystals and these insights we're only given in notes not taught directly meaning there were chances of missing on some important areas.

Only your own mentor could be trusted in such matters. So, the only thing he could hope for was the free subjects that Fred had promised at the start.

Fred nodded his head and moved the bloody apparatus on his table aside. He then retrieved some strange items from the back cabinets and placed them on the table.

There were a total of 4 crystal balls on the table each giving out 4 different colours

"These four balls represent my 4 areas of specialisation: The one on the left represents the condensation of Energy, the crystal ball adjacent to it represents Herbalism, the one with red colour represents Potioneering and the last one is for the knowledge on souls. Now, make your choice!" Fred said.

"Mentor, I choose Potioneering and Knowledge on Souls!" The reason Wade chose alchemy as his major was to advance in Potioneering and then rely on selling potions to earn money for his studies, so naturally he chose this.

Elementary Potioneering is an advanced course developing from the public Potioneering Basics course. In theory, it is possible to start brewing potions after fully understanding these two lessons.

"I knew you would choose potions but for soul even I am quite surprised!" The half-dead Fred revealed a stunned look.

"Even though I am in the field of soul research my knowledge is not that as deep as you might think but it should still be fruitful for you in your apprentice stage," Fred said passing the white crystal ball with soul knowledge to Wade.

" As for the art of potion brewing, it is extremely complex and complicated, the slightest mistake will result in a failure. All of the Potion Masters have spent a vast amount of resources to accumulate their experience. Are you ready for this?" Fred asked one final time.

"Yes, Sir! I believe in this saying: You may see any dream you want but to fulfil the dream requires hard work and if you do not give up and work hard towards the dream it will definitely be rewarded!" Wade replied, this is his life's philosophy.

"Indeed! A very good mindset. One needs to have this philosophy on the road to truth!" Fred nodded and handed the red crystal ball to Wade.

"This is yours now! Place them one by one on your forehead to have the information flow through into your mind." Fred instructed.

Following his mentor's instructions, he first placed the red ball near his forehead. As soon as the ball touched his head a huge amount of information was sent into his mind giving him a huge headache.

Slowly he felt like he was in a dream in this dream he was attending lessons on potion knowledge again and again and again. It was more like a video recorder which was stuck.

"How do you feel?" Fred asked after some time. Fred's voice rang, and Wade was bewildered, he slowly moved the crystal ball away from his head, this brought back the sensation of warmth and a little moisture.
