Act: 1 Part: 2

*BREEEP BREEEP BREEEP*

David is startled by the sudden interruption of his sleep. A red light rotates in the corner of his room, with it, an alarm blares, causing David to cover his ears. "What in the piss..." David gets out of the bed, as he starts to get dressed, he hears running in the halls, his door suddenly swings open, Ryan in the doorway.

"David, c'mon, we need your help, there's been a breach." Ryan motions him to follow. As they walk Ryan hands David a few clips for his pistol, "We're gonna need everyone for this."

David looks back to him,"I don't know what exactly is going on, but I'm here to fuck shit up, so let's go!" Ryan smirks and they continue to walk.

Once they reach the end of the corridor, David notices it's the same door he first walked through when he first arrived, but this time, it's full of zombies covering the glass, tracing blood and some other unsavory substances across the pane. "Ohhhh, that kind of breach..." Ron rubs his temples, "From what we've gathered so far, we're counting about a dozen, maybe more." Ryan looks back through glass trying to give count to how many, "There's definelty alot, but unless my eyes deceive me, even more are falling through the hatch."

"So what's the problem? Let's just clear the room and close the hatch, there's plenty of us." Ryan shakes his head, "There's just to many, not to mention that's our only way in and out of the bunker." David rubs his chin, feeling the stubble, "That's a little dumb, don't ya think?" Jay leans against the wall,"There was another hatch, but we had to seal it off when we got here." David raises an eyebrow, "And why is that?" Ryan turns to him, "Same as this one, it became overrun and we couldn't handle how many came through." David tilts his head, "But isn't that a little bit dangerous?" Ryan slams the side of his fist against the metal wall, causing everyone to jump, "It doesn't matter! We need to deal with this situation now before we're trapped-"

Suddenly, a loud explosion rocks the room next to them, shrapnel digs itself into the thick window in the other room. David's ears begin to ring as he looks around at everyone else, they're in the same situation as him. "Holy fuck..." He barely hears himself over the ringing. He moves up to the window, noticing the multiple zombies that were there, were now torn to shreds by the explosion. Jay moves next to him, looking through the window and notices the damage to the corpses, "That had to have been a fragmentation grenade, just look at all of the shrapnel damage..." Just as David is about too reply, he notices boots moving down the metal steps. It's a man, he moves toward the window, he writes something down on the peice of paper and holds it to the window.

Mind if I join you?

David hesitates, but puts his hands on the valve on the door and begins to turns it. "What are you doing?" David turns and sees Ryan staring him down. "Letting him in?" Ryan does not look pleased with his answer, "You have no idea who he is! That grenade could have killed us! He has no right to come in here! For all we know he'll kill us or rob us..." David wasn't expecting such resistance from his new found friend. "You took that same risk for us yesterday, not to mention he saved is alot of trouble by using that grenade of his, I think he has earned the right, I mean does anyone else object?" David looks around, no one disagrees.

He continues to turn the handle, opening the door for the stranger. He steps in dropping his gear by the door. David locks it back tight, "Yo, dude, you could have atleast warned us somehow." The stranger turns to him,"Sorry! I just wanted to make sure I got them all at once." Ryan walks up to the man, looking him up and down,"Well, thank you for the heroics and stuff." The stranger smiles and extends his hand, "I'm Benjamin, Ben for short, it's a pleasure to meet you all." Ryan takes his hand and quickly introduces everyone. Jay moves toward Ben, "Where did you get the frag grenade?" Ben smirks at the thought, "Found is on a couple of dead army guys awhile back, always waited for the perfect time to use it, and today was the day." Everyone chats for a bit longer before Ryan decides to show Ben where he can sleep, everyone else decides to find something to do now that the excitement is over.

Everyone is finding a way to pass the time; Jay is playing cards with Ginny as her dog naps beside her, Ron talks with Ben about parts of the bunker, Lily and AJ are talking about life before the apocalypse, and lastly David and Ryan sit at a table, Ryan takes a sip of his coffee,"So how are you enjoying bunker life so far?" David stirs at his drink,"Uhm, to be honest, I thought you would kill me in my sleep but I surprisingly woke up and discovered that you're not a bunch of savages, so that's pretty good." Ryan puts his coffee down, "And how do you feel about everyone?" David raise an eyebrow and thinks, "Hmm, well I think your kind of a dick..." Ryan's eyes widen a little. David hold up both hands and chuckles, "I'm just joking man, you're cool in my book, your girlfriend is a badass with that flamethrower, Ron seems like a nice guy, but I gotta know..." Ryan raises an eyebrow, "...Is Jay like an actual doctor? Or does he just give people aspirin and stuff?" Ryan smirks and shakes his head, "Nah, he's the real deal, he even did surgery on me once." Jay's voice suddenly bursts through the mess hall, "Damn right I did!" David and Ryan look at him and he smiles and returns to his card game, making Ginny laugh. Ryan lowers his head towards David and whispers,"Not gonna lie, I thought he was gonna cut my heart open, but he pulled though." Both David and Ryan begin to laugh.

"And what about the rest?" Ryan says as he sweeps his hand across the room. "Ginny and her dog are nice, it hasn't bit me yet so I got nothing to complain about-", "And Ben?" Ryan interruptes. "I've got no problem with him right now, he's already helped once with that whole grenade stunt." David looks over to Ben, wondering what would have happened if he wouldn't of shown up. Ryan rubs his chin,"I guess you're right, well anyway, do you mind if you and Jay go on a supply run tomorrow? It would really help." David finished up his coffee,"Sure, anything to help out around here." Ryan smirks, "Sounds fantastic." With that Ryan walk out of the room, and David walks over to AJ and Lily, to find something else to keep him busy.

*Time Skip*

David puts the pack onto his back, checking to make sure he has his supplies, yet enough room to carry things back. Jay pats him on the shoulder, "You ready to move out?" David finished up and salutes, "Aye aye captain." Jay nods and opens the door, both carefully step over the undead carcasses, and move up and out of the hatch. It's weird for David to feel the grass again, to smell that rancid air, and to hear birds in the trees once again.

Both begin walking for some time when David begins to get tired of the quiet. "So you were a combat medic before this?"

"Oh yeah, I was called back in when shit started to hit the fan, our camp would take in the sick, we would try and treat them, and of course we were oblivious to what this really was, and it was too late, we were overrun before we knew it. I lost alot of friends that day..."

David lowers his head, "Sorry to bring it up..."

Jay puts both of his hands up, "It's alright man, you didn't know, once everything went wrong I ran for it and decided to find my family. I searched and searched, but they were gone, I was lost and starving, then I met Ron when searching for food, and that's when Ryan found us both."

"Sounds rough, and there was nothing to lead you to your family?"

Jay shakes his head,"Not yet, but if I get a chance to go back I will."

David nods, "Well that is-"

A torrent of pain rushes at the back of David's head as he falls to the ground. He sees Jay reach for his gun, but a stranger with club swings and whacks Jay as well, knocking him unconsious. David vision blurs as he tries to stand back up, planting his hands in the ground, but his arms feel to weak. One of the strangers stand in front of him, one hand holding a baton, the other holding a walkie-talkie. "We got two, both male with minimal supplies and weapons, boss." The man squats down infront of David. A deep voice on the radio speaks up, "Good, bring them in and we'll look into them further." The voice cuts out, "You got it, Sam." The man raised his baton once more and whacks David on the head, knocking him unconscious, all that David can see is darkness...
