Chapter 3

Suni's breath hitched, hearing his words as she stared at him. A wave of happiness rushed through her, somehow finally feeling accepted in the world. He had just called her 'weirdly interesting', but her mind just focused on the word, 'interesting', taking it as a compliment. Perhaps, it was a compliment.

"Will you keep staring at me, dumbass?" Valente chuckled when she immediately looked elsewhere.

"Ahahaha! I am gonna keep you to myself." He laughed. "Even after you pay me!" He patted her head and pulled her ears slightly, making them twitch.

She looked at him with big eyes.

"What?" He asked. "You don't have anywhere to go anyways, right?"

Suni nodded her head right away. She didn't plan where to go, she just planned how to escape. Moreover, his presence felt comfortable. The safest option was to go with him.

"Then it's fixed! Let's find treasure together-" He stopped himself after he heard what he said. Although she looked innocent, he didn't know if he could trust her. After all, they had just met.

"What is Trusure?" She asked tilting her head.

Valente snapped out of his musings. "It's Treasure, not trusure, you dumbass." He corrected her. "It's several precious metals, gems, or other valuable objects. And it's hidden in the north. And fuck- why am I even telling you?" He blurted out.

"Why are you trying to find it?" Suni asked, sitting in a comfortable position.

"Because it's worth it. I can live a damn easy life if I have it y'know!" He exclaimed, already excited thinking about all the pleasures it bought. "Hell! I can create my own fucking pack and kingdom."

Her eyes shone like the stars above in the sky. "Is it that valuable?"

He nodded. "Now, you make me trust you somehow!" He said afterward crossing his hands against his chest.

"H-How?"

"Somehow."

She tried to think of something, puckering her lips.

"I-I don't k-know how I can make you trust me." She muttered, honestly.

He squinted his eyes at her and sighed in disappointment, "I also don't know. What to do?" He drowned in his thoughts, wanting to find a way to have faith in the beautiful stranger in front of him.

Suni unknowingly looked up from the ground as she sat holding her legs close to her chest, staring at the male in front of her with big eyes. She felt like a creep but she couldn't help it. He looked amazingly good as if the moonlight worked magic on him. Something about him awakened her as if she were charmed by him.

Catching herself staring, she blushed, embarrassed, and turned her gaze to the ground again.

"AH! WHY DON'T YOU THINK OF SOMETHING!?" He whined, yelling at her causing her to flinch and glance up at him.

"Eh- B-because I don't know?" She replied, uncertain.

"Tch, tch, tch. How dumb of you!" He shook his head.

Suni pouted angrily, though, she just looked cute, "Y-You also d-don't know though." She meekly argued back.

Valente looked at her, shocked to death. "You can actually talk back!?" He dramatically gasped, hitting his chest with his hand, and rolled over the ground.

She couldn't hold her giggle in, so she let it out.

Valente stared at her as if she held the universe together. His mouth agape when she chuckled sweetly, feeling proud that he made her laugh.

She suddenly stopped and looked at him.

"Why did you stop smiling?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows and tilting his head.

"A-Are you not angry that I laughed?" She asked.

Valente frowned at her words. "No, why would I be?"

"B-Because ev-everyone always is whenever I smiled." She said, looking down sadly.

"You seem that you've been through some depressing shit."

"Uh..." She didn't know how to reply to that.

"Anyways, just letting your dumb ass know. I am not "everyone"." He said, yawning.

"So- So I can smile?"

"OF COURSE YOU DUMBO! Smile all you want! Why the hell you are even asking me?! Do whatever the hell you want! You are just not allowed to leave my lonely ass!" He yelled leaning against the tree and closing his eyes.

Suni's eyes lit up and she smiled, closing her eyes. He is very nice to me, "She thought."

A question troubled her, "Can an ass be lonely?" She asked, genuinely confused.

He sighed. "Yeah! Totally! It is confirmed," He said. "That you're a dumbass." He tittered.

Suni pouted.

"By the way, Why do you have wolf ears? It's not even confirmed if you're a wolf. Even it was, I am one and I don't have any tails or ears neither does anyone else."

Suni shrugged her shoulders.

He snickered, "You're oblivious, even about yourself." He sighed closing his eyes again. "Man, I'm sleepy. Night!" He chirped and drifted off to sleep almost immediately.

She pursed her lips, staring and admiring his handsome features. He shivered in his sleep, after a while, making her worry. Unzipping her bag, she took out of the only blanket out and crawled towards him, dragging the bag and blanket with her. She sat down right beside him, leaning against his shoulder as she pulled the blanket on both of them and smiled at the warmth, closing her eyes when her nostrils filled with his caramel scent.

"Who the fuck said you could sleep on me!?" Valente's loud and deep voice woke Suni up. She pouted and rubbed her eyes with little fists of her.

"I am sorry." She mumbled and collapsed on her bag, wanting to get some more sleep.

Valente scoffed, looking at her. He had found the girl, who just now had slept again, on his laps and all the blanket was snatched away from him.

That didn't matter though! The fact that she was snuggling closer and closer to his bare abs, made him so absolutely flustered that he almost screamed like a teenage rat.

His ear caught some noise. It was getting closer and closer. It was bad.

Judging by the footsteps and scent of the wolf, he was a rogue. He sighed. He couldn't believe he followed him till here. His laziness didn't wanna fight this man who he knew, he just woke up.

"Okay, dumbass. That's it! I don't care about payment anymore!" He pulled Suni's droopy ears, making her whine and pushing his hand off her. He gritted his teeth, getting angry. "I swear to god, if you don't wake up right now I will leave you behind, you dunce!" He whisper-yelled at her.

Hearing his word, she jolted up. She puckered her lips, looking at Valente.

"Sweetheart," He smiled, saying sarcastically. "Do you wanna see a fight in the morning?"

Suni looked at him, confused. "No...Is there gonna be a fight?" Her eyes widened.

"Yeah! if you don't move your lazy ass right now!" He growled lowly.

She quickly nodded and hurried the blanket into her bag, getting up.

"You are a fucking sloth!" He grunted, knowing the man was here, now and he would have to fight again.

Suni got puzzled by what he said but soon caught his words smelling a scent of burning wood as a man came in front of them, smirking and turning into his human form.

"Casper," Valente growled.
