Valente's heart broke, listening to her words. He didn't want it to happen, he was just frustrated when the shelter owner told him about the dragon wings. He held it in for then but when he got out of there, he just lost control. He just wanted to know every damn thing about her.
He sighed and readjusted her in his arms as she cried silently. He walked to the room when he finally reached the place they were staying in. Setting on her the bed, seeing her crawling to the corner and hiding her face in between, sobbing, he felt so guilty.
"I am sorry, Suni." He let out, guilt clearly present in his voice. "That was very stupid of me. I was unnecessarily rude. I'm sorry." He took her in his arms again, sat down, and sat her on his laps. He wrapped his arms around her shoulder and waist, placing her head on his chest.
"I-I-Its fine." She stuttered, obviously lying.
"It's fucking not!" He said, furrowing her eyebrows as he hugged her tighter. "I just wanted to know everything about you and me- l thought you were, well, hiding something and I chose the wrong way of making you utter out the truth. I am sorry. I promise that I - I am sorry I won't use my wolf voice-" He rambled until Suni cut her off.
"Y-you s-said that the l-last time." She whispered.
"I won't break it this is a pinky promise. I promise with all my heart."
"P-Pinky promise?" She finally showed her face covered with wet flushed cheeks.
"Uh-huh." He nodded and brushed her hair out of her face. "It's a promise you make, if I break that you can break my pinky, for real."
"I d-don't wanna break your p-pinky if you break the promise." She said. His eyes slightly widened. This girl was too good for him.
"I-I will b-break your whole hand!" She exclaimed, tears streaming down her pretty face.
Or maybe she was just perfect. The redhead broke into a smile and nodded his head, "you can totally do that! No problem. Just please please forgive me and don't leave me."
Suni nodded her head, hesitantly as Valente wiped her wet cheeks.
"Oh my god! Thank you so much." Valente sighed in relief and hugged her tightly, kissing her head multiple times. He kept rocking her back and forth until she spoke again. "I was escaping, climbing out of my window. It was quite high when my father caught my hand and I pulled back forcefully making me stumble and fall from the height. My wings first appeared then. I forgot about it until now." She explained. "I don't know where it came from or how I have them. It doesn't feel like magic. It feels like… how I have my ears." She nodded to herself.
Valente furrowed her eyebrows and nodded, processing.
"Why did you run away though?"
"I hate it there." She said, tears welling up again but she calmed down in his arms. "E-everyone abuses me a-and t-they hate me."
Valente kept rubbing her back as she tried to blink the tears away.
"It's okay. Take your time, dumbass." He smiled sweetly.
"F-Father always ha-hated me and my b-brother never acknowledged me, he always ignored me as if I don't exist. My father always used his w-wolf voice when he w-wanted to make me- work and whenever h-he liked it. When I went out of the castle--"
"Your father's a king?!"
She nodded.
"What a bastard!" Valente growled.
Suni nodded, pouting and snuggling closer to his neck.
"Whenever I went out, E-everyone always gave me weird stares and laughed at me. S-some were scared and I don't know why. T-they used wolf voice to m-make me slap m-myself and they s-sometimes beat me." Suni looked up at Valente because he was silent. Her eyes enlarged as she saw his eyes glowing red.
He was so angry at himself, at everyone. How could they treat her like that! His neck veins were visible and his jaw was clenched as he glared in front of him, holding her tightly.
"V-Valente…" The black-haired slowly reached her hands to cup his cheeks.
That snapped him out of his trance. Calming himself, he turned his gaze to the girl on his laps looking at him with teary eyes. He leaned down and he kissed her forehead softly as she closed her eyes, enjoying the care.
Valente smiled. "I'll protect you." He said with such seriousness even through the smile. If anyone saw his face, they'd be sure that he was speaking honestly, that he genuinely cared about her even its been just four to five days since they know each other.
For Suni, she wasn't one to trust someone too easily, but she trusted him, oddly enough, cared for him the same way. And she felt happy hearing his honest and steady words. Closing her eyes, she gave him a sweet smile and nodded.
Valente chuckled and hugged her.
"Thank you." He said.
"For what?" Her voice came out muffled because she squeezed between his bare chest and strong hands.
"For not leaving me, dumbass. I hate to fucking accept it but I was scared to death. And I don't know why. So don't go anywhere."
She giggled on his chest.
"So about the dragon wings. Use it! I wanna see how you look…no before that let's go to eat. I am hungry as hell."
"Me too."
After finally eating, they both moved on to their next destination, talking about random stuff.
"Why don't you ever speak what's on your mind?" Valente asked, tilting his head as they walked.
"B-Because..." Suni thought for a moment. "I don't know." She pouted.
Valente scoffed. "Well then, try it, dumbass. Speak. What's on your mind now?"
"I-I l-like being w-with you." She blushed slightly.
Valente tittered, a little surprised. "Woah! Yeah! I bet you do!"
"W-What's on your mind?" The omega asked.
"You're shy. And that's why, I think, you don't tell people what's on your mind, or stand up for yourself."
"I'll try to."
"You don't need to if you aren't comfortable. You just need to have one person whom you can tell-" He was cut off by a strong familiar scent of burnt wood.
"Shit. Not now!"
