A New Skill: Accelerate

After tearing through the creature's neck, the radiant beam persisted for a brief moment, casting a brilliant glow across the sky before fading away.

Thud!

The large body of the beast remained standing for some seconds, with its large eyes wide open, before finally crashing unto the ground with a loud thud.

The second the beast's body collapsed to the ground, two transparent yellow balls slowly flowed out of the body.

Within a split second, the strange transparent balls shot into the chests of Aria and Blake respectively. It rapidly sunk into them, filling their bodies with a warm sense of refreshment.

Unlike the last time, the size of the yellow balls were quite similar, but the one that went into Aria was still a little larger than Blake's.

This was because she was the one that killed the wolf at the end of the day, and even though, Blake's attacks contributed a great deal to its death, she would still recieve most of the records.

'The beast's records…' Aria thought, as she stared at the notifications flashing across her eyes.

Blake's brows furrowed slightly, as he read the system notifications in front of him.

[You have absorbed the records of Level 20 Three-horned wolf! Strength +13, Agility +9, Heath +5, Endurance +3]

[Level up! You have reached level 14!]

[Level up rewards: +5 status points]

[Level up! You have reached level 15!]

[Level up rewards: +5 status points]

'Two level ups… and look at the number of stats I got from one beast alone, that wolf was actually very strong.' Blake thought, with a slight smile on his face.

However, when he remembered how Aria was able to pierce through the thick neck of such a beast with a single attack, he felt a slight chill run down his spine.

The beautiful, yet terrifying image of that radiant beam piercing through the skies was something he would never forget.

'Thank God she's not my enemy.' He mumbled inwardly, subconsciously heaving a sigh of relief.

'I wonder what kind of stats she got from her own records.' He briefly wondered, before swiping the thought off his mind.

"Blake… come look at this." Aria suddenly said, breaking him out of his thoughts. She slowly walked towards the still body of the wolf, her finger pointing at the thin scroll that laid beside it.

"Huh?" Blake mumbled in confusion, immediately turning his head towards Aria.

His eyes followed where she was pointing to, and seeing the scroll lying on the ground, images of how he acquired his  [Lightning Ball] skill flashed in his mind.

'Could that be… a skill scroll?!' He thought, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

"It's what you think, a skill scroll." Aria muttered, as she gently crouched and grabbed the scroll. Since Blake already had a skill, she was sure he was familiar with the concept of skill scrolls.

However, the moment she saw the system tab that appeared in front of her, her face squeezed in dissatisfaction.

"Never mind, it's a useless skill." She muttered, with a slight frown on her face.

"Here!" She suddenly said, tossing the scroll to Blake, before continuing: "You might find it useful though."

"H-huh…" Blake stuttered, as he awkwardly caught the scroll mid-air. He was a little surprised at how the simply tossed it, like it was nothing but trash.

It was a freaking skill scroll… doesn't that alone make it valuable?

'This…' Blake mumbled, as he read through the skill information tab in front of him.

[Accelerate (D-Tier skill) level 1: +10 stat points temporarily allocated to agility for ten seconds. Ten mana points needed to activate.]

Seeing the skill information, a slight smirk appeared on Blake's face.

'A temporary speed boost skill…' He mumbled inwardly. Seeing as the skill only provided a temporary ten stat boost in agility, he could somewhat understand why Aria felt it was useless.

Not only was the boost only for a few seconds, but it only boosted one's agility by ten points, which couldn't be considered a huge boost.

Besides, it was a D-tier skill. He might not know much about the system's skill grading, but he was sure D-tier skills weren't much powerful compared to C-tier and above.

But for him, this skill was anything but useless. He currently has only one skill, and that was [Lightning Ball].

While [Lightning Ball] was quite powerful, at the end of the day, it could only be used to attack. It didn't give him any extra boost in either speed or defence.

This skill was definitely useful for him, as it helped balance his skill set. It might only be for a few seconds, but he was sure he could achieve something with those few seconds.

'Learn skill.' He mumbled inwardly, and in the next second, the scroll in his hands rapidly dissipated into tiny grey particles before going into his body.

Just like when he learned [Lightning Ball], another strange rune appeared deep within his consciousness, and his brain was suddenly flooded with information on how to use the skill.

Blake exhaled, and his lips curled into a slight smile. 'With this, I've once again gotten a little bit stronger.' He thought.

[You have learned an active skill. Three more active skill slot left.]

His brows furrowed slightly when he saw the notification in front of him. 'So I can only learn three more active skills…' He mumbled inwardly.

"Are you done now? Let's go, we don't want more zombies catching up to us." Aria said, with the usual blank expression on her face.

"Yeah, that's true." Blake replied. He felt like testing out his new skill, but he knew that wouldn't be a wise decision, as it would only be a waste of mana.

'We're so close now.' He mumbled inwardly, remembering where they were meant to go to.

They both nodded to each other, and then crossed unto the next street, all the while making sure their steps were as silent as possible.

Just when they thought they wouldn't run into any trouble, a loud growl suddenly drifted into their ears, and their bodies jolted in fear.

They swiftly hid in an alley at the side of the street, before gently peeping out from the wall to observe their surroundings.

Growl!!

A short zombie, with its eyeball dangling out of its socket appeared in their sight. It slowly walked out of the building they fought the bony zombie, stumbling on the pile of rubbles, before crashing down head first on the ground.

Growl!

It growled loudly, before staggering back up on his feet, slowly approaching the still body of the wolf on the ground.

Growl!!!

As if that wasn't enough, a horde of ten zombie slowly trouped out from the corner of the street, each one slowly walking towards the wolf's body.

It was as if there was something pulling all the zombies to that spot, and their numbers kept increasing with every passing second.
