A Distant Wish

A frail looking middle aged man sat down on the bench of a park and was gazing at the sky in a deep thought. Then another middle aged man came towards him. He had black hair and brown eyes. He sat down and asked the man,"So William what was the thing that you wanted to tell me so bad?"

William sighed and said,"Aghh! How should I say it Jason. It started about 2 month ago. I was doing my work as usual and then a phone call. At first it was just as a advertisement call would be like, but at last it said a disturbing thing. It said,

[We will stay in contact with you so you don't have to worry about the products you are going buy, thank you]

"But what's wrong with that, I don't think there's any problem with the advertisement call." Jason said calmly.

"Yes that's right, it was also something that I thought at first and that was my biggest mistake till now. You see there is no company that says it will stay in contact with a particular customer without any valid reason. And soon I started getting those messages."

"What type of messages?"

"It was nothing at first. It only said to call on a number to buy the latest products. I also thought it wasn't that much big of a deal, but that was my arrogance that made me think like that. 1 week later my daughter got kidnapped."

"So was it linked with the message that you got?" Jason asked William.

"I know you, Jason Evans, one of the top detectives in the world. I guess I understand your curiosity since I was also a former detective."

William looked towards Jason and said,"Then listen to the story and find the culprit."

William continued,"The cops were all around the country trying to find my daughter. But they couldn't find her even after 2 weeks. Everyone said that she might have been already dead, but I was sure that she was safe and sound. She's a strong girl you know. I was very puzzled and sacred at that moment, but then I remembered about the call and the message and I decided to call on the number. It didn't receive at first but my gut feeling was telling me that I should try to call one more time and then at the second time. He received it."

"Who do you mean by he. Can you tell me more about him."

"A man whose morals doesn't match with the world. He said in a deep voice that my daughter was with him safe and sound. I was relieved, but also angry. I shouted at him and that was the time he said,"buy the latest products if you call now". I was shocked to hear it as I was the only one who knew about that message. He began to speak, he told me that he will return my daughter back to me if I come to this place. I did everything as he told me to do. Then the day came when he would return my daughter. I called the cops about the place. But then I got a call from him, he knew that I called the cops. It was as if he knew everything about me, every about step that I was taking, like he was watching me. So I went to the place alone and there was no one besides my daughter. She was tied on a chair. I looked around the place but couldn't find any clues about him."

Jason asked him,"Can you tell me which place he called you to come to."

"It was at Edinburgh castle."

"Don't worry William I'll be sure to catch the culprit behind this."

After that Jason Evans continued his search for him and went to Edinburgh castle to find clues about the incident.

"Looks like this case is going to be very interesting. The culprit made sure to remove all the evidence leading to him that even a former detective couldn't find any clues nearby the castle. But I'll not believe that until I see for it myself."

Soon...during the golden hour Jason reached Edinburgh Castle and looked upon the castle and murmured,"I'm soon going to find you."

He went inside the castle and started to look for any clues. Suddenly he stumbled upon a small but very intriguing clue on the walls of the inner hall.

"This wall somehow looks suspicious. These letters, what are these? I'm sure there wasn't anything written on these walls. This language, it's english but it's written in a weird style. What does it say?" He was troubled. Suddenly he looked up and saw what was actually written in the dark.

"A DISTANT WISH"

Jason went to William's home.

Cling...[bell rings]

Clack...[door opens]

"Oh! Jason, come inside. We also have another guest having dinner with us today."

"A guest?" Jason said in confusion.

"His daughter was kidnapped and just returned about 2 weeks ago. Why is a guest here." Jason thought.

He went inside along with William. There he saw a tall person about 6 feet, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black suit and was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed.

Jason went towards him. The man stood up and both of them shaked hands.

"Nice to meet you sir, I'm Jason, Jason Evans."

"Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you, the name's Thomas Frederickson."

They sat down and started to talk about. Soon dinner arrived and they went to the dinner table to eat. While all of them were eating, Jason asked Thomas,

"So Mr. Thomas what do you do now?"

"Oh! Me, well I'm YouTuber. I do vlogs and teach people about new business ideas and stuff."

Hmm...I see.

"Mr. Jason, you are a detective right?"

Ah! Yes I'm.

"I know I shouldn't be saying this while we all are having dinner but, please find the culprit behind this whole mess. Eva is a sincere and strong girl but there are sometimes things which can't be taken lightly. It can only be solved with the help of elders. So Mr. Jason, through my influence I'd like to work with you and help you find the culprit. Will you agree with me?"

Jason put his fork and knife down and said, "Amm...Mr. Thomas I'm sorry but I can't do that."

"Ah! No worries. It's my fault for asking something that you couldn't do while doing this investigation." He said with a little beautiful smile.

"Thomas Frederickson, an unknown person who came to William's life just a while ago. The way he talks is a little interesting. Showing such a beautiful smile on such a grave topic. I wonder who he really is." Jason thought to himself."

After the dinner Thomas went back.

"Jason, how is the investigation going on?"

"Well, first I'd like to ask that did you really didn't find anything suspicious out there."

"No, I didn't find anything suspicious. It looks like you found something that leads to him."

"I don't know whether it will lead us to him or not but I definitely found something interesting. In the wall of the main hall he wrote with red and black paint. I don't know what he means by that, but...

"What was written" William shouted.

Jason looked towards William and said,"A DISTANT WISH"...
