As the weeks went by, it became evident to some members of the Loki Familia that our dynamics had undergone a significant shift. It was only natural, considering the number of nights I had spent sleeping in Ais' room.

Although our outings were limited, there came a day when I ventured out briefly, returning with a collection of toys and inexpensive trinkets. These simple additions breathed a new sense of warmth and comfort into the room that had previously lacked such homeliness.

Yet, I knew that confining ourselves to this room indefinitely was not the ultimate plan. There was a future beyond these walls, where we would create a home together. A grand mansion, perhaps.

We could build a life that reflected our love and aspirations. However, there was one obstacle standing in the way of this long-term plan.

It appeared that there might be a correlation between the intensity of my emotions and the rate of my growth, although we lacked concrete evidence to support this claim. While it was tempting to attribute this growth to love, I couldn't dismiss the possibility that it was merely an assumption on my part.

The original Harmonic Convergence technique, designed to stimulate both soul and body simultaneously, should theoretically have no connection to my emotions. Moreover, the presence of an unknown Trait within me was a cause for concern, especially considering that my remaining time in this world was dwindling rapidly.

On the surface, a little over a year may not seem significant, but in relation to the time I've spent here, it meant that I might not have enough time left before Lucy discovered a way to slow down this progression.

Lucy was currently operating under the assumption that love was the cause, but what if there was another underlying factor? In that case, the time required to find a solution would increase exponentially. The situation had become quite dire.

In light of all these concerns, there was only one course of action that seemed viable—I needed to upgrade Lucy.

Despite the possibility of upgrading Lucy through the infusion of Divinity, the sole fragment we possessed from Malachi was too impure, and using it for this purpose would equal suicide. Therefore, we needed to explore alternative methods.

After a thorough investigation, the desired information finally surfaced.

Analysis of the local resources is complete. To upgrade Lucy, it is imperative to construct a network of Magic Conduits that will serve as the new core.

As a Magic-powered engine, the new System will possess the capability to autonomously absorb energy from this world to sustain itself. Estimating its computational speed remains beyond the scope of my current capabilities.

The structure is as follows:

Lucy - Transmits the request to the Core

Core - Dispatches the request to the Magic Conduits, or "Threads"

Threads - Processes the request and divides it into multiple segments to expedite processing speed

Blocks - Transmits the information back to Lucy, which subsequently relays it to the Host

While I yearned to delve into the task of upgrading Lucy, I couldn't bear to leave Ais alone amidst the ongoing war.

The masked individual who had issued the declaration remained an enigma, fueling my growing uncertainties.

Frustratingly, the pieces of the puzzle were slipping through my fingers, eluding my grasp. It unsettled me greatly.

...When they will dare come to bother us, I shall make them taste the full extent of my power. I want to bring an end to this situation swiftly...

"What's on your mind, Ren?"

Lost in my thoughts, I hadn't realized that Ais had woken up. I turned my attention to her.

Her eyes held a hint of sleepiness, a testament to the rigorous training she had undergone the previous day.

Strands of her hair were playfully disheveled around her face, accentuating her natural beauty. Her lips bore the marks of our passionate moments before I had allowed her much-needed rest.

At that moment, she was a perfect blend of adorableness and sensuality.

The temptation to let her bask in this state of relaxation indefinitely tugged at my heart, but I couldn't bring myself to deceive her. Honesty was a virtue I held dear, one I would never compromise.

Some may argue that lies serve a purpose in certain situations.

But I have no need for falsehoods.

"Well, You see..."

Thus, I told her about everything I omitted regarding Lucy, and my own situation.
