Floating Feather Knighthood

The City Of Squire was a large city that was bigger than most kingdoms and it was situated at the border, close to the ocean and also a great forest that harbour one of the most dangerous creatures of the continent.

The City Of Squire was not one whole but rather an amalgamation of many towns and settlements that make a singular network and then have three large cities that served as the overseer of the rest.

The reason for this arrangement was that the city was just one massive school that harboured all known Knighthood in the Continent.

That was to say, every town has knighthood schools of different kinds that you will not find in another town. 

Currently, Noah Ark was moving to reach a town, Oak, that was recommended by Portable Tower, his guide who popped when he merged his necklace and his mother's.

The town has seven well-known Knighthood schools, even though he wasn't going there for any of them but the portable Tower said that he sensed one of the items in that direction. So the kid was moving there to see if he could obtain it.

Along the way, the kid met with Hamlets and he stole some kid's clothes while at the same time he smeared his face with mud. That made him disguised as someone from Hamlet and also a beggar.

`Good. This kid is smarter than I thought. He knew his appearance will attract people's attention

Portable Tower thought. 

The Tower was still frustrated though, it assumed the kid will be an obedient child that will do whatever was planned but no, it found the boy was egoistic, arrogant, and full of anger and he believed he can do anything and achieve everything on his own.

Noah reached the town, it was surrounded by 10m walls and a wooden gate made from Oak. There were seasoned brigades outside and they eyes anyone that was coming inside.

"Your name. From where!" A guard in rusted armour that was barely standing with his two legs due to being exhausted all day long in the sun, asked.

[Western Plains]

Noah stared at the man in armour, and he said, "Noah!" His innocent face which was smeared with mud showed as if he was wary of the large man.

"From?" The guard growled. His job was simple, whenever he saw a new face, he just asked his name and from where. 

Noah saw some caravan come and pass but the guards didn't even glance at the people and the rest of the guards just checked the goods inside.

"Western Plains!"

"Are you alone?" The guard asked again with annoyance.

"Yes!"

"What brought you here!"

Now Noah was upset but the explanation the tower gave him made him realize something. These guards that protected the gate knew all the people that ever came to the town and when they saw a new face or individual they must know where and who.

[Say, Knighthood. Anything else these Hounds will make you go through some registration]

Seth wanted to ask how the tower knew that but if it was telling the truth, going through registration is bad. As what he was about to do might be bad in the town.

"Knighthood!"

"Which one!"

"I don't know. most I know everything?" Noah snapped and yelled out, attracting the attention of the people around.

The guard just stared at him while Seth glared back at him.

"You have a week to select the Knighthood you want. Here is the list of the available and their possible requirements. If you don't find what you are looking for, you will be kicked out or forced to register!"

The man threw a wood template and then moved out of his way. Noah sighed and walked in. But then he hid and watched the guards search for more coming caravans. 

[What are you waiting for]

"To see if you are lying!" 

[What?"]

The tower was surprised by that but he became silent. Noah was so damn patient in his investigation that it was during sunset did he see a couple that never came to the town and they were forced to register and took a badge with them.

Confirming the tower wasn't lying, he went through the town when the sun was down, and the night prompted people to put lanterns in the street.

Noah might be from a luxurious household but leaving a street homeless was everything Knight from Shifting Steel has gone through. As such, he already knew how to fill his stomach.

However, as a Rank 10 Knight, the option of stealing was not available for him. That wasn't the only option though, there was begging, and there was also trying to be couriers or someone that washed things.

So, Noah just moved around where there were a lot of food stalls, and found a place where a lot of dishes were unwashed due to customers overwhelming the owner and he doesn't have an extra hand to clean them.

With water placed there, Noah began to wash the dishes and by the time the owner came behind the stall he had almost finished.

"You think I will pay you for this, you brat!"

"I just want to eat! I'm hungry!" Noah said innocently but the woman slapped him, he dodge her hand, moved behind and he stared at her.

"Get out of here. I don't need that!"

He nodded and then moved ahead and repeated that until he met with a grumpy old man.

"You good for nothing brat, where didn't you finish fast? Cleanse them fast!"

The old man was growling at Noah because he wasn't fast, instead of complaining about why he was cleaning. Noah worked and had food for the day and earned himself permanent labour until he left Oak Town.

All knights without exception learnt survival tactics and even mastered them. So, living for days in the foreign town was so damn easy for Noah but his only problem was the Portable Tower.

He had been in the city for 3 days now and his duration was running off but the damn tower refused to tell him where the item it sensed was.

[You are not easy to deal with. Squire City is very dangerous even for you and moving around will be dangerous because of your anger tendency. The moment you caused another massacre, Tremor Earth Knighthood, Bowling Wing Knighthood and Rosy Blade will all come down your throat and trust me they will hunt you till they all die.]

"I will be the one to make that decision, not you. As I said, it's beneath me to join any half-ass Knighthood as a True Knight!"

[It's not forbidden. Circumstances lead to that. Besides I have already found a suitable knighthood good for you.]

Noah didn't ask which knighthood but then he looked up at a cathedral before him. It's a church, a special knighthood that oversees all knighthood in the city. The thing was, it might be situated in the town but it wasn't counted among the seven knighthoods.

"If it's not Skyheaven Knighthood, I'm not interested!"

The portable tower trembled and was silent for some moment, Noah was about to move when it said.

[Do you want the world to end]

That garnered Noah's attention.

"What do you mean!"

[Skyhaven is one of the three most powerful Knighthoods in the world. I believe in 10 years you may become the Pope. Sadly that bad news as that will break one of the rules of the world and everything may collapse.]

Noah was more confused than ever as he asked the reason.

[The three Great Knighthoods have reached the pinnacle of their power, an increase of one of them will tilt the power scale and the world will doom. Became a grandmaster and I will tell you more. Please don't ask me more!]

"Grand Master!" Noah muttered. 

That was a taboo word for his grandfather because the old bastard lived his entire life and reached the pinnacle of what a Rank 1 Knight can be but he had failed to become a Grandmaster.

That frustrated him till he became a cantankerous and unreasonable person that only sees people with their talent and disposes of all talentless people.

Noah was his only pupil and squire because of his insane talent, but even so, he claimed Noah wasn't working hard enough.

[Where are you going?]

"I'm going to ransack Chief district and see if they have what I want!"

[If I'm not here, that will still be a bad idea. The best way is to join the town and try to integrate into society and then search around. One was bound to slip their tongue.]

"I'm usually lucky. I will find something!"

[No you are not! To tell you the truth, the item is not yet in town]

Noah frowned and said, "You never lie to me. Why now?"

[I didn't. I said I sensed it around here. But listen, we need to be a team. I know everything about this continent and all their knighthoods. I already planned how to get the whole items. And currently, the first step was for us to have a nationality, that will allow us to go everywhere we want without question, to have that we must join a knighthood. Please Noah!]

Noah became silent.
