“What do you mean an “adults only” night?” I asked, wanting to be perfectly clear.

“Exactly what it sounds like. I have stuff for the kids that Luke agreed to do with them, so Jenny can come out with us.”

“All of us?”

“All of us, I want it to be a family thing, other than Jenny, but she gets a pass this time.”

“Thanks,” I said, warmed by how much thought he’d put into celebrating me.

“You’re welcome.”

“Where are we going?”

“Are you sure you want to know? It might spoil the surprise.”

“Yes,” I said bluntly, not sure I was up for any more surprises.

“I’ve rented out one of the best restaurants in town. We’ll have the place to ourselves. Keep things intimate as well as safe.”

The kiss was quick as it was passionate, my burning love for my lovely husband very much taking the wheel in terms of my actions.

“What was that for?” he asked.

“Just for being you. Thank you.”
