Pitter Patter...
Big, heavy raindrops fell to the earth, battering the roof of the verdant carriage and making brittle sounds.
Dean gazed at the scene from the carriage window, enjoying the world around him.
He finally had time to relax and enjoy his new world; he didn't need to worry about being killed by the people who sent him to Moutain Rock City.
Nor did he need to worry about making a mess for a fire church or whatever their intention was.
Thanks to his requests, the divers spoke to Anithia to cancel the deal.
Even though she looked hesitant to do so, even to the point where she made the divers wait to contact her superior for absolutely no reason since the deal was only between them, she still agreed and abolished the contract.
Finally, Dean could say that he was free; the wind gem he asked for wouldn't be needed anymore since he discovered that divers took a different path from mages and warriors.
Their power system was vastly superior to those two categories, and the gems plus spells used by these two were merely cheap, weak copies of the cards used by divers.
He also found out quite a lot about the divers realms, cards, and other things after reading the book given to him by Blank.
A few days had passed since the incident where the old man killed hundreds of people, and he had time to read the book fully. And given the original Dean's insane talent of memorizing everything he read, he had no problem recalling whatever he needed of information from it.
Dean, at first, felt guilty for the people who died.
He refused to kill innocent people for no reason whatsoever.
These were people who had their families like him on earth. People loved them, a lot would miss them, and some were even dependent on them, yet he was the reason hundreds of such people were brutally killed in Mountain Rock City.
But he was also experienced in life, and he knew that he had no other option.
His life was on the line; if he didn't let the old man do his thing, he would probably refuse to lift a finger and let him perish, which doesn't go against the card since Dean clearly said he doesn't want him to kill people, so how was the old man supposed to save him.
On the other hand, Dean knew that the murderer wasn't him. It was the old man.
Dean wanted the white-robed man dead, not the people outside the guild watching the show.
Thus, after a day of thinking thoroughly about it, Dean felt there was no need to feel bad or guilty over it.
' They should blame their own luck for being on the range of the old man's attack when he made his move.' Dean thought as he recalled some of the contents of the book.
From what he read of information in the book, he understood all the basics about the new life awaiting him.
For starters... Divers were called divers not for their identity in itself or anything of that sort. No, they were called divers for the sole reason that they needed to dive deep into the ocean to enter the gates which take them to the chaos world.
The gates were said to have appeared 300 hundred years ago deep into the ocean; there weren't many of them, only three at first, but with each passing hundred years, a new gate will emerge in a part of the deep ocean.
There weren't any monsters or destruction following the appearance of the gates, which surprised Dean at first.
If no destruction or monsters followed their appearance, then how did people of this world find out about them?
That was his question, which is normal for any human being with a brain on top of his shoulders to have that thought.
Then, after he kept reading through the information, he understood the reason.
The gates summoned people, not a lot, just dozens of them.
These people were told by instinct to dive deep into the ocean, enter the gates, and adventure inside.
The people did as they were told since they felt some force tightening in their hearts when they thought about resisting their instincts. It was like they were going to blow up the moment they took a step back and refused to obey.
Luckily, no one made that stupid mistake, and everyone entered the gates.
Though the thing they saw on the other side shocked them to the core, in fact, their shock was so great that some of them instantly cut their throats by their own will.
Unfortunately for Dean, the information related to the Chaos World ends there.
When he asked diver Blank about the reason for hiding such crucial information if they were going to enter the gates anyway, she gave him a reply that he couldn't refute.
"It is not because we don't wanna tell newbies about the world on the other side; we just can't. There are restrictions that prevent us from leaking any information about it." She then sighed and kept doing her thing.
Dean wasn't the only one frustrated by this thing; everyone who once visited the chaos world was feeling the same emotions as Dean, if not stronger and worse.
They needed people to be prepared for what they were going to deal with on the other side, but at the same time, they couldn't leak any information.
At least the gates weren't so cruel as to cut all their hope away; they did provide them with something they could help newbies with when they first entered the gates.
And those things were none other than cards.
Cards were a sort of powerful attack, weapons, or even daily necessities that could be looted in the chaotic world.
Luckily, people found out they could trade these cards.
Thus, the higher-ups quickly began giving weak and useless cards to newcomers to slightly help them survive on the other side.
A lot of people still died after entering the gates, even with the aid of the cards, but the losses weren't as great as before, and a lot of improvement was shown.
But many would ask, what is the threat behind the gates that forced people to head back there to get stronger?
Well, no one knew; it was also confidential information.
Dean laughed bitterly every time he recalled the contents of the book.
The book was basically worthless...
It was literally a history book, no more than that.
Subsequently, he scrolled down the information and found some useful knoweldge, even though not that useful, still necessary.
It was the realms of the divers and the ranks of the cards.
Divers were divided into five realms from what was written in the book.
Adventurer.
Seeker.
Star Seeker.
Master.
Grand Master.
On the other hand, cards were also divided into five ranks, albeit slightly different from the divers.
Common.
Uncommon.
Rare.
Earth.
Heaven.
Dean then stopped recalling the information written in the divers book and focused on the outside.
What filled his vision were Huge farms filled with wheat and all kinds of useful plants.
There were also several strong animals pulling carts, some of which Dean had never seen before in his life.
There was even a two-meter-tall dog walking along the fields, and when Dean saw the dog, he felt a shudder.
That dog was powerful!
He could sense it just from the fluctuations of the mana around his body.
But he quickly lost interest in the dog or anything related to mana, mages, and warriors.
' Mana and everything used by it is but a mere cheap version of cards and everything behind the gates. I'm a diver, my goal is eternal life, I should focus on the greater world.' He narrowed his eyes as he darted his head, looking at the white-robed woman situated in front of him.
' I wonder, when are they gonna make their move."
Author Note Here: I hope you are enjoying the read so far.
As you can tell, the main plot started taking place on the appearance of the white-robed man, but keep in mind, even though the chaos world, divers and cards are the main points of the novel for now, mages and warriors still play a part in it albeit not that great, but it will be explained throughout Dean's journey so don't worry.
