Chapter 16: Private time

From the time Sofia stepped foot into the Reading Club, everything has changed. The club which was known to be the most underrated and not worthy of time had gained popularity worth a lot.

In the past, people would never think about joining the reading club since they regard it as a boring place and not so eye-catching. And there were only three members on that ground.

But things have changed now. The club was no longer a club of Three members and has become a group of more than a hundred members. But there was a problem with that...

" I will talk to my seniors and will inform you soon ", Said Sofia.

She was done with her lunch and was waiting for Mary and Enzo to finish eating...

At that exact moment, Mary's phone started ringing, and someone was calling her. Sofia shook her head and she didn't know what to do with this girl...

Her phone ringtone...it was too childish and funny and that everyone was looking at their table. It would be a lie if Sofia says that she isn't embarrassed by this....because she seriously is embarrassed right now.

" Pick up the phone, hurry up. Everyone is staring at us. There have been countless times that I have told you to change that ringtone...", Sofia was legit scolding her for not changing the ringtone.

" Shush! Let me answer this call ", Mary placed her index finger on Sofia's left as she told her to stay quiet and picked up the call.

She picked up the call but there was no answer from the side, only some strange sounds were there...as if someone was getting beat by a gang full of people.

" Hello! Hey? What's that noise? Where are you?... Answer me! This Idiot...", Mary didn't hang up the call and got up immediately as she picked up the jacket from the seat.

Sofia was a little taken back as Mary was acting odd right now.

For Mary...it was an urgent situation. " Sofi! I won't be attending lectures with you. There's an emergency, I have to go. Please take care of my attendance at the next lecture...".

Mary made her way out in rush, she run away from there...Sofia didn't even get the time to answer her. Looking at the speed she ran away, things don't look that simple.

Right now it was only Enzo and Sofia at that table and that long-lasting silence followed them. Sofia saw the food plate still half full with food. " She left the plate here...didn't even finish her food ".

" I am done! Let's go ".

Enzo was done as well. Even though he can eat human food but he was still hungry...this hunger could only go away once he drinks real blood. But for now...he was set and not that thirsty for the blood, he had full control over his body.

The both of them get up. As she was about to pick up the plate left by Mary, Enzo reached out his hand and picked up the plate instead. " It's okay! Let me ".

She smiled and nodded to him simply. If it was to be someone else in his place, she would have rejected them and told them to get away as she alone is sufficient. But Enzo...he was quite different in her view.

She can't seem to reject him and his goodwill. No matter how others see him, she can't find anything fishy with him.

After putting back the food plates, they came out, and once again...there was no topic between them that they might discuss or talk about with each other.

As they were walking toward the lecture building, Sofia's mind was wandering around, she couldn't help but think about Mary and where she might be right now.

" Enzo! Earlier...you said that you wanna join the club because you like quiet places. If I see you...you are okay with having conversations with others. And you look pretty comfortable too, so...why do you want to stay away from people? They are your peers and having a strong connection with them will help you in the future when you will step into society. And...I hope you can think about your decision to join the Reading group ".

Sofia pointed out what she think about him joining the group. If she looks at him, he is indeed handsome and looks smart as well. But...she doesn't think he should be in Reading Club.

Enzo was dumbfounded for a moment. But even he acknowledged what she said was pretty accurate.

He is indeed handsome and an overachiever to be in a group like this. But...no matter what others say, he can't do as they say.

There were many reasons for him to join a secluded place than to be in a place that would have many people. He can charm people and it's not in his control...so it will be a big mess if people are to get charmed by him. Another reason is that he has the mission to make her fall for him.

And that can only happen when he would be around her and always show his face to her, only then his natural charm will be effective. And another reason...he doesn't like to be in the sunlight, it's dangerous for him.

Even though vampires have evolved to be more fearless in human society, it is still not to the point where they can just go around in the daylight and do whatever they want. Things have not completely changed yet...

Even though the sunlight can't harm him heavily, it's still dangerous and can bring more harm to his weak body than he can think. And since he was in the weakest phase right now, every dangerous little thing can bring more harm to him compared to other vampires in this society.

So... it's good to stay away from anything which has even the small possibility of harming him. Of course, he didn't say anything out loud.

Sofia was still waiting for his answer. It was windy outside, her hair was flowing in the direction the wind was flowing, it was a beautiful scene in one's mind.

He looked at her and just kept looking without any break. His mission was to make her fall for him. But it seems to be the opposite...more like it was the mission for him to fall for her instead of making her fall for him.

As she turned her face around, saw him staring at her intensely. It wasn't like she was creeped out by him or was feeling strange and weird by his gaze...she felt no sign of disgust while seeing him stare at her.

She wondered. " Why is he looking at me? is there something on my face? Maybe a grain of rice or some leftovers ".

Sofia touched her soft skin and started checking if there was something left on her face. But there was nothing...Enzo snapped out of his imagination when he saw her touching her face like some person who's lost in the jungle and is looking for a way out.

It was at this point that she realized that he wasn't staring at her. But maybe it was a loss in my imagination...

" Hey! You didn't answer me. Not until I get to know your reason I will plead for you. So...you better coke clean before me ", She asked him direct this time.

Enzo started scratching his cheek with one of his fingers as he didn't know how to answer her but started telling her anyway...

" Umm! Indeed...I have no trouble in conversing with others. I know...there might be many clubs out there that might be good for me. But I think, I want to be the part of the Reading club. You see! I don't like meeting people, I prefer to stay in a secluded place. Plus...I like to read. So I think, I want to join this club, I really do ".

His words were really convincing. And Sofia acknowledged him for that. Actually, It hurts to see him join some secluded club when he can actually do better in some other clubs.

" Alright! I get it. Since you are genuine about joining, I will talk to my senior and let you know soon ".

" I will wait for the good news ".

" Ahh! It's almost time for the class, I should get going ", Sofia looked at the time and realized that she should head back soon.

" Senior! Please wait. Umm...I don't know when and where I will see you and even you might have no idea how to contact me. How about we exchange our contacts? If you don't mind ".

He was asking her gently and trying to be as careful as he could to not give her that weirded-out feeling that she almost get when approached by the men.

" Take out your phone, let's exchange our contacts ".
