Chapter 13, Hunting

After breakfast the little ones couldn't wait for the surprise  so they waited impatiently. Li Jain had the bowls cleaned and placed on top of a pile of wood shavings before he explained his idea. "Today we will start your first lesson with some basic training. You see, I have made several sets of obstacle courses.  Each has different levels and distances so that you can get familiar with those obstacles and avoid them. You need to practice getting over these obstacles.

Li Cheng and Li Zhang nodded their heads in understanding. They were ready to begin. Li Jain then gave them a few pointers on how to use the tools.

...

"You use anyone you like, but whichever one you choose, you're required to master it before changing. Although you'll have to master all of them eventually this is the easiest way to start. If you keep changing targets, you might end up mastering none. The wooden bridge is for balance and Accuracy. The requirement for mastering it is being able to run over it twenty five times in a row without falling. The wooden man is for speed, Accuracy, and eligibility. Same requirements goes for the others. the first person to master one obstacle course will have a reward of anything they want.

The children were originally happy about being able to train, now that they hear reward was behind it, they were more excited. You only need to be the first to master an obstacle course and you'll get a reward.

"Father, if one person masters three obstacles would they get three rewards?" Li Cheng asked

"That's right." Li Jain answer

When the others heard it they became more serious and put on their competitive caps.

"But... How does this wooden man work?" Jing Sheng asked. The wooden man was just standing with bags in his arms. Are they supposed to punch this bag of sand?

Li Jain walks to the wooden man and activates the command talismen. Immediately, the wooden man started to wave his arms around in circles. "You have to move between those bags without getting hit by them." He also activated the tryout. Immediately, the log started raising up and falling back at a constant rate with more force at every turn. once you step on one, you'll have to think quickly and jump to the other, otherwise, the force will throw up off. But the timing is wrong, you'll still get thrown by the other.

"Doesn't that mean only the bridge obstacles are the easiest?" Jing Xuan asked

"None of these are easy.  Considering how narrow the stick is, it can only accommodate one foot at a time and the height is ten meters long. balancing is almost impossible, walking will be very difficult not to talk about running. falling from there will get seriously hurt." Li Cheng explained

"It doesn't matter. I'll just have to try again and again till I get it. In the end, the result is what counts, not the process." Sad Li Zhang  said confidently

"What does that even MEAN!? Your attitude toward this training is very pessimistic."

"No.  It's because my expectations of this training were too high. It doesn't seem much like a challenge. "

Jing Xuan looked at Li Zhang with admiration  in his eyes, "Brother Zhang is so cool, you can think of a quicker way to finish this training before we even start."

"If you just try blindly without any plans or preparations, then you might as well train for a year with no positive result. " Jing Sheng murmur, clearly not agreeing with Li Zhang's decision.

After arguing without stopping for about 10 minutes they decided to do their own thing and see if your idea works. Unfortunately, all of them had underestimated how difficult the training was  going to be. The first few days were really challenging. After some more practice, it began much easier but no one has mastered any obstacle course.

...

Li Jain entered the mountain, ready to hunt down his prey. The sun shone high in the sky, making it almost blinding. Li walked through a small forest, with a.compass in his hands that pointed at the direction in which he was heading. The trees around him rustled, and birds sang. His steps didn't stop until the sound of crunching leaves came from behind.

He turned around to find a deer walking straight towards him, unaware of Li's presence. He raised the compass. Its needle slowly moved, pointing straight into the heart of the deer and pushing its body forward, causing the animal to fall on the ground. It lay there, dead. Li looked at its chest with a frown.  He took out the needle from inside of its chest and inspected it before putting it back in the compass.

The can't only detect the animal surrounding and level of beasts, it is also a magical weapon that can attack on its own. The needles inside were refined by him in his previous life. Li Jain wasn't an experienced fighter, therefore he found any way possible not to make himself do the physical work. But that is going to change in this life. He now has children to protect. He avoiding trouble doesn't mean trouble won't come to him.  He puts the compass inside of his bag and continues his journey.

As Li Jain approaches the top of the hill, he notices something on the ground. He kneels down to take a closer look, then picks up the plant.

There was a black flower with purple petals growing out of its stem.  A flower like that is usually found near the corpses of victims, but Li's face showed no emotion as he stared at the flower. He examines its roots,  which are still intact.  This plant is called the blood flower, it can attract six wing birds wherever it grows. People who want to catch the six-wings bird would always look for blood flowers.

Li Jain stood up and opened his compass, the compass needle pointing towards the north, but when he looked there, nothing was in sight. He chuckled, "As expected of the six-wings bird."

This bird has a high sense that detects danger, and hides quickly with its invisibility ability.

Li Jain looked at the distance between him and the bird and sighed, if he goes any further, he might startle the bird.

Li Jain stretched out his hand, a powerful spiritual energy flew out of his palm towards the bird.  With a snap of fingers, the air started rippling and a large black shadow suddenly appeared behind the bird. Before the bird could react, the shadow had already hit it and knocked it off the mountaintop. As it falls, it releases a large amount of black blood onto the forest below.

Li Jain smiled in satisfaction, "Nice job."

Li Jain put the bird, blood flower and compass back inside the pouch and decided to go back home. His hunting was done for the day. After reaching home, He put his hunting equipment back inside its bag. He walks towards the living area to sleep for a bit, and prepare dinner for the kids. The house was so quiet. The children were still training in the backyard; from time to time, he would hear some painful moans, groans, and screams; it was pitiful to hear them.

Li Jain sigh helplessly, he decided to cook a good meal to make up for their hard work.
