Crow's Lost Memories

Corvin is a boy who grew up with dreams of changing the world. Humanity is in the brink of civilization changing revolutions. As the waves of turmoil create change, he gets the chance and connections to lead the change of his homeland along with his friends. Will he be able to change the world in the way he wants during the industrial revolution of his planet, or will he fail as he uncovers the truth about reality and his real identity? A/N: This is my first work, and just a simple hobby of mine but I do take it seriously. I want to keep some parts of it different from the rest like how the magic works, and I know it may turn out more complicated than classic game-esque magic, I still like that kind of worldbuilding. I appreciate constructive criticism. Currently 1 chapter per week because I am busy with uni exams. Will be back to 2 per 3 days after everything is over, which will take about three months.

C02- Lost Control

SAM was currently flying in the body of a giant monster he was controlling.

"Hmmm.... Where didn't I look yet?"

He was currently searching for someone around the world using the body of a terrifying monster he created to look around. The monster was a giant eyeball with a diameter of 5 meters. The monster had a dark grey iris and muscle like tissue that covered the back half of the monster, with some parts forming 3-4 meters long tentacle like structures. Around 50 other eyeballs as big as a 3 year old baby head were following him from behind. They looked exactly like the big one.

The monster had amazing eyesight, as SAM created it to look for something. But he also had to give it a giant mouth that opened from the bottom half of where the white sclera and the muscles met and a very destructive laser that can be shot from the pupil. The minions did also have mouths but at least they don't have lasers.

"Sigh, these restrictions are so annoying, why do I have to create a disastrous monster to do all this stu- Hm? Oh!"

Sensing the person he has been looking for he speeds up towards him.

"Oh, is he living in a big village? Lets see who his family here are!"

Just as there were about a kilometers between him and his target, the monster he controlled started to act weirdly.

"Wha- Hey- What's happe- Oh shit, I lost control.... Uh oh, that's not good."

SAM stared down from the sky as he watched the monster go out of control and attack the village underneath him, causing a massive chaos. Soon after, a fire started because of the disarray.

"That's....terrible, ugh. I hope he can fix it but, is he not in the village?"

*****

"W-What is this?!"

He couldn't put words together. The horrific scene Corvin saw when he came to the village was unbelievable. Houses were burning, there was a giant flying eyeball watching the chaos unfold from the sky while smaller eyeballs were attacking people with their sharp teeth that looked like a bunch of spearheads.

He quickly ran towards his home, trying not to look at the people dying and the half eaten corpses lying on the ground. The sounds of crying and the shouts of the people desperately defending themselves were almost too loud. Breathing was getting hard because of the smoke but he had to run.

'Please, please, please, please, mom and dad be okay...'

As he wished for a miracle, he found his home, or what is left of it, as it had already turned into a bunch of burning black debris. His dad was sitting on his knees in front of the burnt down house, looking ahead with hollow eyes.

"D-dad?"

"Cor...vy?"

"D-dad, where is mom? Sh-she is alive right?"

"Sorry.....Corvy...but...it...looks like....this...is it....for me....and Sally..."

"Wh-why are you saying that dad, you are sti---!!!"

Before he could finish his sentence he saw the rest of his dad's body. His stomach was almost eaten completely and some of his organs were spilling out. His clothes were burnt and covered in blood.

"Uuueeegghhhhh"

Seeing this, Corvin couldn't hold it in anymore and puked yesterday's dinner as he fell to the ground. After his body made sure nothing was left in his stomach, his dad spoke.

"Cor....vy....please...run..away..."

"D-dad I can't do tha-"

"We are... already dead...please....save yourself..." said his dad, before falling to the ground.

....

"Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!"

Hearing his dad's last words, he stands up, picks up a random axe he found around and starts running away while screaming.

Some of the small eyeballs, attracted to the sounds he made, start flying towards him.

Seeing the eyeballs chasing him getting closer, he turns around to defend himself before they reach him.

Swish swish swish

He swings the axe randomly towards the eyeballs. He cuts one straight in the middle. He doesn't know what, but something makes his attacks go faster than they should and hit his targets at the same time.

The more he swings, the more tired he gets. The thing helping his attacks is making him get tired faster. After splitting the last of the 8 eyeballs chasing him into two, he is too tired to swing anymore.

Then he feels something giant getting closer.

It is the giant eyeball directly looking at him. Much bigger than any animal he has ever seen, and bigger than most monsters he heard. Behind the monster were more minions. All of them directly looking at him.

'Is this how I die, huh? Funny, even though I am about to lose everything, I dont feel scared.'

Then he stared at the giant eye as the smaller ones started to cover his body with bite marks. His body didn't move. He silently lost his consciousness.

'I hope Matt can reach the city.'

Was his last thought as he died.

*****

"It killed him..... Well it's not like I can't revert it back, but he definitely used his magic while fighting so, should I keep this monster the next time? He needs some experience in combat anyways."

Mr. SAM was now thinking about what to do after watching Corvin die. He felt weird causing the death of the person he was looking for this easily.

"Well, it's probably okay if i just warn him somehow beforehand right? I just need to remember to stay away from him if I don't want to lose control. Yeah, that's it. Then let's restart!"

*****

'Huh? I am not dead?'

Corvin was surprised when he could open his eyes, and felt no pain. Then his vision cleared. He was looking at a beautiful face next to him while walking, his body moving on it's own once again.

'Heh, this dream again? The last thing I see will be her huh? Well, I don't hate it.'

Next to him was Lily, the woman from the weird dream he had, but this time wearing a beige coat and a white beanie. He was surprised by how good the fabric of clothes in this place is.

She was around half a head shorter than him and her expression was much softer from when he last saw her. But she also looked a little bit older as well. There was a cute 5 year old girl that looked just like Lily -except her light blue eyes- between them, holding their hands.

He was at a street, but one that is very different from what he is used to. It was night but the street was bright with light. And the street was very crowded. They were waiting in front of a giant metal wheel, more than a hundred meters tall, which was turning slowly. There were spherical things people got inside of, did a full tour around the wheel and left once they came back down to the ground.

As Corvin was wondering what the purpose of this thing was, the small girl suddenly spoke.

"Daddy! I am tired, pick me up!"

He smiled and picked up the girl.

"Yayy!!"

"Alice, don't tire your dad too much. Look it's almost our turn anyways."

"Hmph! You are just jealous mum!"

As Lily and Alice bickered, the line in front of them ended and they got inside the spherical thing and sat down. Corvin was looking at the stunning wiev of the massive city. It wasn't anything he could even imagine. He couldn't even guess just how many people were living in this giant city. Most of the buildings looked like a noble's mansion and some even bigger, but there were too many of them for them to be noble's property. Obviously they were for commoners to live in them.

"The wiev from the Eye is really amazing, isn't it darling?", said Lily, who sat next to him with Alice on her lap. She leaned her head on his shoulder.

'The Eye? This thing is called the Eye? Well, these people have better luck with eyes than I have, I guess'

"Yeah, it looks amazing."

After getting out of the 'Eye', while some small talk was happening in the dream, Corvin wondered what this place is. It looked so advanced, so rich and so peaceful. He wondered what the people here do to make money. Were clothes and houses like these expensive here as well? Or were people just that rich here? Maybe things were just that cheap? If commoners are like this then what about nobles. No, in the first place, were there even nobles here?

'I wish I could change my world to be like this.'

While thinking about all these things, and looking at Lily, he didn't realize that he felt completely calm and at peace. Even though he just saw a massacre, lost his family and then life. The woman next to him took away all his worries just by being next to him.

Then the dream started to quiet down and get dark.

'I guess that's it. Goodbye world.', thought Corvin, as the world around him disappeared.
