Bleeding back
Bai Liyue was desperate to save her parents. She didn't want them to suffer, so she lowered her pride and let off her stubbornness. She begged him, her voice trembling with emotion. "Please, Qin Yufeng, I beg you. My parents are innocent. Don't do this. Please, tell your men to stop and take back your command. I beg you, please."
Qin Yufeng's eyes softened as he gazed at Bai Liyue's tearful face, his guilt increasing. He wanted to give in, to grant her wish, but he knew her stubbornness well.
He took a deep breath. "You know how to stop me, love."
Bai Liyue nodded slowly.
Her lips were tightly pressed together, her eyes downcast as she wordlessly took the plate from Qin Yufeng's hand and started to eat. As she ate, tears streamed down her face, each a testament to her deep pain. She was angry with herself for ever agreeing to this terrible marriage and for the bleak future she could now see stretching out before her.
